One Night Mistake… Now I Carry the Mafia Heir

Chapter 83/sudden shock

Chapter 83: 83/sudden shock

Chapter 83

Stephanie’s Point of View

The moment Kyra heard my sincere confession, her eyes widened in such utter shock that I thought they would pop out of their sockets. She quickly reached out and placed her hand on my forehead as if checking my sanity. "Stephanie, honey... are you okay?" she asked in a worried tone. "Do you have a fever? Are you delirious?"

I gently moved her hand away from my face, a sad despondency washing over me. "No, Kyra, I’m not feverish," I said in a faint voice. "I’m just telling the truth that is eating my heart away."

She looked at me with a stunned expression, as if seeing me for the first time. "But this is absolutely insane!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling. "How can a woman love two men at the same time, especially when they are brothers? How can your heart hold them both?"

I let out a deep, lost sigh, leaning my head back and closing my eyes, trying to explain the contradiction living inside me. "I don’t know, Kyra... I swear I don’t know. I just feel a compulsive attraction to both. Alex dominates me with a quiet elegance; he gives me a sense of belonging but hides a terrifying authority beneath his coldness. And Cedric... Cedric dominates me like a raging hurricane. His sadism and ferocity ignite something inside me I never knew existed. They are like fire and water, Kyra, and both satisfy my contradictory psychological and physical needs."

Kyra shook her head in disbelief, rubbing her forehead. "I truly cannot process this... it’s a situation beyond imagination!"

"I can’t believe this is my life either," I said with bitter honesty. "But this is the reality I live every day in that palace."

Kyra went silent for a moment, then looked at me with extreme gravity. "Fine... let’s set feelings aside for a moment. But what did you mean by openly asking them to sleep with you? That’s not like you, Stephanie. You’ve always been shy and reserved. What changed?"

I felt the heat of embarrassment stain my cheeks crimson. I looked down at the floor, my voice thick. "I’m so ashamed of myself, believe me... but when I’m in their presence, I lose every ounce of control over my nerves and my body. My pussy starts throbbing with a mad desire I can’t suppress, as if I lose my mind before their overwhelming charisma."

Suddenly, Kyra’s expression shifted, her eyes gleaming with a strange spark as if she had found a treasure. "I have the perfect solution for this problem of yours," she said.

"A solution? What do you mean?" I asked, puzzled and anxious.

She stood up enthusiastically and gestured for me to follow her. "Come with me to the bedroom."

I followed, dying of curiosity. She opened her large wardrobe and pulled out a carefully wrapped bag, then drew out a cylindrical object... it was a "dildo" made of silicone, remarkably large and intimidating. I froze in my tracks, my eyes widening in shock. "Kyra! My God... what are you holding?"

"This is your safe haven," she said simply and coldly, waving it in front of my face. "The place you turn to when your body catches fire."

"I am truly shocked... I never expected this from you!" I said, unable to hide my dismay.

She snapped back sarcastically, placing her hands on her hips: "You don’t get to be shocked, dear Steph. What I’ve heard from you and your insane stories with the Moretti brothers doesn’t compare to what I’m offering you now. This is just a tool; your life is the one that’s a shocking novel."

I examined the piece cautiously, as if it were a ticking time bomb. "But... you never told me you owned something like this."

She smiled slyly. "I own two. One I’ve used before, and this one is brand new in its packaging. I’m giving it to you to use on those long nights, so you don’t have to beg them like a fool and wound your pride."

"You’re hurting my feelings with your harsh words, Kyra," I said, stung.

She raised an eyebrow in biting mockery. "Really? I hurt your feelings? What about last night when Cedric and Alex rejected you and left you burning alone? Didn’t that wound your feelings and your dignity more?"

I suppressed my annoyance, trying to hide my agitation. "Kyra... stop. You’re going to make me regret trusting you and telling you what happened."

"And I regret listening to your madness, which nearly made my brain explode, believe me," she laughed mockingly.

"Fine, I won’t tell you anything ever again!" I said in a childish tone, trying to lighten the mood.

"Stop acting like a child," she said with mock seriousness. "Listen to me carefully. Next time, I’ll buy you a sophisticated ’vibrator’ so you’ll have every means to dispense with Cedric and Alex’s services and save yourself the headache of their torment."

I laughed from the bottom of my heart at her way of talking. "My God, Kyra! You’re unbelievable!" I took the piece from her and placed it very carefully in my bag, glancing around as if I were committing a crime. "It’s a good thing I brought a large bag today."

"Yes, that’s your stroke of bad luck," she chuckled.

I tried to change the subject quickly. "Remember... I told you that the owner of the great ’Vincetti’ company is a close friend of Alex."

"Yes, you mentioned that," she said, interested.

I took the large leather portfolio that held my future. "Come, I want to show you my latest designs. I drew most of them during that difficult period when I was looking for Cedric. At the time, I didn’t even know his features because my eyes were blindfolded, and yet... these designs flowed out of me like an inspiration."

Kyra looked at me with clear mischief. "Mmm... it seems Cedric, despite his mystery, was very inspiring to your imagination."

"Stop teasing me, Kyra, and focus on the drawings!" I said, my face turning bright red.

Kyra leaned in to flip through the portfolio with high focus. She turned the pages slowly, scrutinizing every line and detail. When she finished, she looked at me with genuine admiration. "Stephanie... you are naturally talented! These designs aren’t just drawings; they are living pieces of art. I’m no expert, but I adore fashion, and I’m telling you with confidence that these are stunning and will be a massive success."

"Really, Kyra? Are you sure they’ll like them at a company that huge?" I asked eagerly, doubt still lingering.

"Yes, Steph. Have a little faith in yourself."

"Well, that gives me a boost of hope," I said with great relief. "I’ll definitely take them with me if they call me for an interview."

Kyra suddenly headed toward the kitchen. "Since we’re done with work and feelings... how about we watch a fun movie?"

"A movie? Now, in broad daylight?" I asked, surprised.

"What else do we have to do? Wait, I’ll get popcorn and drinks. You pick a thrilling movie to make us forget the Moretti family’s troubles."

"Fine, as you wish," I surrendered with a smile.

We didn’t just watch one movie; we drowned in three consecutive films, forgetting the outside world. As we were discussing the ending of the last one, my phone suddenly rang, bringing me back to my bitter reality. It was Alex. I sighed and answered briefly: "Yes, Alex, what is it?"

"Where exactly are you?" he asked in a dry, unfriendly tone, as if performing a heavy duty.

"I’m still at Kyra’s. I haven’t left yet," I said, trying to remain calm.

"Should I come with my car to pick you up and take you to the palace?" he offered formally.

"No, thank you," I replied immediately, wanting more time away from the Moretti pressure. "I want to stay here longer."

His voice rose with a slight edge of disapproval. "Stephanie, it’s four in the afternoon. It’s not right for you to stay out any longer in your condition."

"I’m having dinner with Kyra. Don’t worry about me," I answered with clear defiance.

"Fine... as you wish," he replied coldly, as if closing a door, then hung up without saying goodbye.

We finished the last few minutes of the movie, then my phone rang again. Kyra winked at me mischievously and whispered, "What now? Is it Cedric this time? You seem very much in demand!"

"I really don’t know," I laughed nervously. I looked at the screen and saw a strange number I didn’t recognize. I answered hesitantly. "Hello... yes? Who is speaking?"

A sharp, formal female voice answered. "Am I speaking with Mrs. Stephanie Miller?"

"Yes, this is she... please, go ahead," I said, tension crawling through my limbs.

"I am calling from Vincetti Fashion. I’m calling regarding the job interview for the application you submitted."

My heart nearly leaped out of my chest with joy. "Yes! I’ve been waiting for this call! When can I come for the interview?"

"Now," she said with a strange sternness. "You must come immediately."

I was stunned by the request. I looked at the clock; it was nearly 5:00 PM. What respectable job interview happens this late? "Now? But... at this time? Isn’t it a bit late?" I asked hesitantly.

"Listen," she replied rudely, almost threateningly. "We are a major company, and opportunities here don’t repeat themselves. If you don’t want to come now, we’ll close your file and call someone else waiting behind the door."

"No, no! My apologies! Of course, I’ll come right away!" I said quickly, fearing the chance would slip away.

I hung up and stood up hurriedly. Kyra looked at me in total shock. "A job interview? At this late hour? Are they serious?"

"I don’t know, Kyra. I’m just as surprised, but it’s Vincetti! I can’t say no!" I said, gathering my things in a mess.

"People are leaving their offices at this time, Steph! This is very strange!" Kyra said seriously, standing up.

"I know, but it’s my only chance to escape. I have to go no matter the cost." I stood before the mirror and asked nervously, "Tell me, how do I look? Is my appearance suitable?"

"You look stunning as usual, but wait... your face is pale from stress. You need some makeup touches to look powerful."

"Hurry, Kyra, please... I’m afraid I’ll be late and lose everything."

"Don’t worry, I’ll finish in two minutes," she reassured me. Kyra applied her touches with professional skill, adjusting my hair so it fell softly over my shoulders and hiding the signs of fatigue under my eyes. "Now you’re ready to conquer New York," she said finally, stepping back.

I carried my large black handbag and gripped my leather portfolio. "Wish me luck, Kyra. I desperately need it," I said as I left the house.

"Good luck, honey. You’ll get it!" she called out with an encouraging smile.

I went out into the street, the wind brushing against my face, and waved down the first taxi that passed. I was in an indescribable state of nerves. Vincetti is a giant in the fashion world, not just a small workshop.

I pulled out my phone to check the time for the thousandth time; it was exactly 5:15 PM when the taxi stopped before that towering building whose peak brushed the clouds.

I entered through the massive glass doors and went straight to the reception desk. "Hello, I’m Stephanie Miller. I have an appointment for a job interview now."

The receptionist looked at me with cold formality, checked her system, and said, "Yes, Ms. Sophia is waiting for you on the fourth floor, right wing."

I thanked her and hurried toward the elevators, the sound of my high heels clicking against the polished marble floor in a rhythm like my racing heart. I stood waiting for the elevator. The metal door opened, and I stepped in.

Immediately after me, a tall man entered, possessing an overwhelming magnetism. He had piercing blue eyes like the sea, carefully styled blonde hair, and looked incredibly imposing in his elegant red suit that reflected boundless self-confidence. Usually, I don’t pay attention to who shares an elevator with me, but this man’s presence was so strong it made it hard to breathe.

We were alone in that cramped space. An awkward silence prevailed. I reached out to press the button for the fourth floor, but he reached out at the same moment to press his floor. My warm fingers brushed the back of his hand. From the sudden tension and the electricity that surged through my body, I pulled my hand away with exaggerated speed. Because I was carrying both the portfolio and the heavy bag in that same hand, I completely lost my balance.

My bag fell from my hand and burst open on the floor.

And then... the catastrophe I couldn’t have imagined in my worst nightmares occurred. The bag’s zippers flew open, and all its embarrassing contents scattered across the marble elevator floor. The "dildo" Kyra had given me rolled out with shameful, blatant clarity, coming to a dead stop exactly at the feet of that imposing man.

I froze as if struck by lightning. I felt the blood drain from my face, leaving me deathly pale. Time stopped, the air stopped, and the whole world around me stopped in that humiliating moment where I wished the earth would split open and swallow me before that stranger could lift his eyes to mine
