Chapter 62/Words Like Daggers

Chapter 62: 62/Words Like Daggers

Chapter 62

Stephanie’s Point of View

I froze in place as if struck by lightning. I felt my body stiffen completely under the weight of Cedric’s gaze, which pierced through me like sharpened blades. At that critical moment, Kira’s voice was still blaring from the phone on the bed, pulsing with cheer and fatal curiosity: "Steph! Where did you go? Come on, finish the story! I want to know exactly what happened when Alex tore the dress. Did he lose his mind?"

My hand trembled hysterically as I reached for the phone, my movements feeling heavy as if I were moving underwater. I tapped the end-call button quickly. Kira’s voice was cut off abruptly, replaced by a suffocating silence that gripped the room, allowing me to hear the frantic thudding of my heart, which felt as if it might burst from my chest.

Cedric began to walk toward me with slow, calculated, and terrifying strides. His features were contorted, his eyes burning with a savage glint. He stopped inches from me and spoke in a low voice dripping with lethal venom: "So this is what happened behind closed doors... do you like my brother that much, Stephanie? Was your night as enjoyable as you were describing to your friend just now?"

I tried to gather my scattered strength, swallowing hard as I attempted to maintain what remained of my dignity. "Nothing you heard actually happened," I said in a faint, trembling voice, struggling to keep it steady. "It was just a heavy joke with my friend."

He exploded in my face with a roar that shook the walls. "It didn’t happen? Really? Do you think I’m a small child you can laugh at with your hollow words? I heard your confession with my own ears! I heard how he tore your clothes because his patience had run out!"

Dark thoughts raced through my head. I felt like screaming and crying at the same time. Oh Stephanie, don’t explain anything to him, I told myself bitterly. Let him drown in his filthy suspicions; he doesn’t deserve the truth. I clenched my fists until my nails dug into my palms. "Listen to me well, Cedric," I said with stern defiance. "I am not obliged, and I will not stoop to explain anything regarding my private life to you. You have no authority over me."

He looked away coldly, a smile as icy as frost forming on his lips. "There’s no need for an explanation, really. I have the full picture, in all its disgusting detail."

I looked at him with a coldness I tried to use as my final weapon. "Fine. Believe what you want. It doesn’t matter to me at all."

His gaze shifted suddenly from rage to a flicker of heartbreak and disappointment. "Did you forget me that quickly and easily?" he whispered bitterly. "Could Alex erase my trace from your heart and body in a single night?"

I let out a bitter laugh mixed with pain. "Look who’s lecturing me on loyalty!" I mocked him. "A man shackled by an official engagement, who doesn’t even have the courage or the power to cancel it for the woman he claims to love! By what right do you speak of forgetting?"

His jaw tightened, the veins in his neck bulging as he gritted his teeth. "So that’s it," he replied in a lethal whisper. "You’re defending your new status now."

"Yes, exactly," I countered with equal cruelty, wanting to shred the last threads connecting us. "Reality doesn’t change just because you’re angry."

Cedric let out a sick, mocking laugh and took another step into my personal space. "I want to ask you just one thing," he said in a strange tone, "and I want an honest answer."

"What else do you want?" I asked impatiently, my temper burning out. "Hasn’t this theatrical performance ended yet?"

He locked his eyes onto mine, drawing so close that I felt his burning breath on my face. He spoke with the utmost insolence and baseness: "Tell me, Stephanie... did you beg my brother to fuck you? Did you humiliate yourself before him just like you did with me that night?"

In that moment, I felt an insult I had never experienced in my life. My blood boiled with the shock of it. Without thinking, my hand moved on its own. With all the oppression and strength I possessed, I slapped him a slap that echoed through the silent room. "How dare you?" I screamed, tears streaming down my face. "How dare you say such filthy things to me?"

Cedric didn’t flinch. He didn’t even blink. He slowly raised his hand and touched his cheek, which was beginning to redden from the blow. "Why are you angry?" he asked with biting sarcasm. "Did I tell a lie? Didn’t you beg me that day to touch you? Didn’t you ask me with your own tongue to put my dick inside you to put out your fire?"

I shoved his chest with all my might to get him away from me, a lump choking me as tears burned my face. "Get out of here! Get out now before I completely lose my mind!"

But he persisted in his transgression, continuing in that disgusting tone that wounded my womanhood and dignity: "Did my brother Alex take pity on you and decide to give you his dick to quench your thirst, Stephanie? Was he generous with you in bed?"

A massive wave of genuine disgust and nausea swept through my body, as if the air in the room had become contaminated by his words. I felt suffocated, unable to breathe normally. "Get out! Leave my life!" I screamed, completely broken.

He began to retreat toward the door with a provocative, cold, and evil smile. "Stephanie, dear," he said, hand on the doorknob, "remember one thing. I am always here in this house. And in case my brother gets busy or isn’t around, I am perfectly ready to fuck you again... only if you know how to beg me properly, like you did before."

I lunged at him like a madwoman, shoving him with both of my trembling hands. My voice came out broken, sharp, and shattered: "Get out... get out and never show me your face again!"

My heart was tearing into a thousand tiny pieces; I could no longer bear the weight of this existence. My vision began to blur and sway. A heavy weight settled in my head as if the walls were closing in.

A strange darkness crept into my sight from the corners, and I felt my feet lose their connection to the ground before total darkness consumed me.
