Chapter 2774: Ragnarok XII

With the other nuisances out of the way, Adrian looked at the fight between the divine soul of the Flame Giant Surtr and the Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki. Try as he might, the Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki cannot defeat or even overpower the Flame Giant Surtr. Seeing the divine body of the Flame Giant Surtr becoming explosively hotter, the Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki knew that his time is running out.

“I do not care if I have to burn my own soul! I shall defeat you here, flame giant!” The Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki shouted as cracks started to appear on his body.

Just as the Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki wanted, the entire area that was blazing in heat suddenly started to show a bizarre phenomenon. The flames that spread is no longer singular as a blizzard also swirled inside of Asgard. The Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki actually have lots of strength behind him but the cost of this strength is his soul being damage.

A piercing pain entered the depths of the Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki as if he was being pricked by numerous needles every second. The laughter of three women could be heard as the body of the Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki started to form cracks. The Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki burned away parts of his soul in order to stop the Flame Giant Surtr.

The Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki managed to create another domain that counteracted the one that the Flame Giant Surtr has created but there was a problem. The fire did not become stifled as the heat is just layered in the cold. This made all of the allies of Asgard inside of the divine realm be affected by intense heat and intense cold. The Asgardians started to die even faster and the other divine beings started to falter.

The Fomorians and the Asuras that were protecting themselves using divine energy started to weaken. They only needed to protect themselves from extreme heat earlier but even extreme cold is now in the mix. The barrier that protected them from the heat created by divine energy started to rupture as it is being weakened by the cold created by divine energy.

“You foolish, trickster!” The Fomorians and the Asuras can only shout as their barrier finally got destroyed and they were engulfed in flames and ice.

The death of the Fomorians and the Asuras did not come easy as they were first subjected to the intense heat with their bodies combusting up in flames. The Fomorians were more affected by the heat compared to the Asuras but the reverse happened when intense cold crept up to their bodies. When their bodies were burned that they almost wanted to die, the intense cold suddenly made their bodies adapt to the heat before vanishing.

The cold would have saved them from the flames but it was not the savior that they have been waiting for. The cold crept up in just mere seconds and their bodies that have become vulnerable due to heat started to become frozen. An intense pain that divine beings could not experience surged as the cold also affected their divine souls. The Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki created this blizzard with the mind of destroying the divine soul of the Flame Giant Surtr after all.

The flames and then being frozen over in a cycle then started which made those with weak divine bodies and divine souls perish. The deaths did not just occur with the Fomorians and the Asuras as even the Asgardians started to perish as well. The monster wolves that were summoned by the World Boss Fenrir Unchained dropped dead with just the initial cycle of fire and ice.

“In the end, all that is left are those that were meant to observe but all of them are destined to die.” Adrian stated as he remembered the conversation that he had with the Flame Giant Surtr in Muspelheim.

“Why do you think that fate has brought me here?” Adrian asked as the Flame Giant Surtr was sure that the former was sent by the Fates.

“I know because my time is already running out. I maybe a god but I only attained divinity temporarily. I am a Jotunn as you can see and we may live eternally like any of the Asmodian descendants but divinity is not something that can be contained forcefully.” The Flame Giant Surtr stated.

The Flame Giant Surtr then gave Adrian the story of how he obtained divinity. The world of the Jotunns is actually where they were standing right now. Muspelheim was a realm that had different elemental areas where other Jotunns resided. Everything was peaceful until the Father of the God King Odin tried to conquer them.

The Jotunns might be Asmodian descendants but they were generally peace loving as they were closer to nature than any other beings. They contained the elements themselves and could be said to be beings purer than elementals because of it. The God Borr, Father of Odin, wanted the power of the Jotunn and used any means to grasp it which included massacre.

Some of the Jotunns managed to escape to other worlds but they were wounded greatly. They became one with nature and would wake up once they recovered. Some Jotunns died in their sleep and became fused with nature entirely. Still, the fledgeling Surtr knew that they must rise but the Jotunns lost against the powerful army of divine beings.

Hence, the fledgling Surtr made a vow or a secret pact with the Fates. In exchange for the power to drive out and kill the Aesir gods before it, Surtr will sacrifice his fate to the Norns who have been disgraced by the God Borr. The Norns accepted the deal with Surtr which led to him having been granted the ability to devour divinity.

Surtr then devoured the divinity from the fallen Aesir gods and even the demigods from his own race. This made Surtr become bigger than any other Jotunn even in his true form. He became a giant even to his own race that is already considered as giants. Not only that, Surtr became forged in fire and lava which garnered him the title of Flame Giant. With his newfound power, the Flame Giant Surtr slayed most of the Aesir gods and even the God Borr.

This power did not last long though as divine power stolen from other gods that just died cannot stabilize the body. The Flame Giant Surtr clashed with the God King Odin, who was out for revenge, and the former died but only physically. The death of the Flame Giant Surtr made the divine energy in his body explode unto the planet which now became Muspelheim.

Due to the covenant with the Norns, the Flame Giant Surtr revived once again as his death has yet to happen. The Norns told the Flame Giant Surtr that his death will herald great change and he will know it when his own body will start to break down. So, the Flame Giant Surtr waited but numerous years made him believe that the time will never come until Adrian arrived before him.

When Adrian appeared before the Flame Giant Surtr, his body started to break down which meant that the time of his death and the prophesied destruction of Asgard has come. The Norns gave the Flame Giant Surtr the task of destroying Asgard as their revenge on the God Borr for defiling them. The Flame Giant Surtr then absorbed all of the energy in Muspelheim once more and contained it in his body.

Muspelheim that is a land of flames and exploding volcanoes is now a land that cooled down as the essence of the Flame Giant Surtr is no more. This essence is what the Flame Giant Surtr is inserting into the divine realm of Asgard. He is making the entire divine realm of Asgard explode with the overwhelming divine energy that he absorbed from eons ago.

“The time has come.” The divine soul of the Flame Giant Surtr stated.

The divine soul of the Flame Giant Surtr got absorbed back into his body which signaled Adrian to escape along with his soulbounds and the other demons. Adrian told Elder Ascalor immediately and all of them left the encirclement of fire that the Flame Giant Surtr created. This left the World Boss Fenrir Unchained, Skoll and Hati, the Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki and the Flame Giant Surtr inside of the divine realm of Asgard. The other beings have long died because of the intense fire and ice that assaulted their bodies.

“I BRING THE END!” The Flame Giant Surtr shouted as he grew bigger than before and plunged his flaming sword towards the very core of the divine realm of Asgard.

“STOP HIM!” The Titan of Ice and Mischief Loki desperately cried as he and the other divine beings under him charged with their bodies to stop the blade from reaching the ground.
