Chapter 2729: The Goddess Sif

Brunhild immediately rushed towards the location where Frey was fighting against the Goddess of Earth Sif. The two could be seen in a fierce battle but the only one heavily injured is Frey. She has yet to call upon the power of the Goddess Freyja but there is a reason why she cannot do so.

“Goddess Descent!” Frey shouted as a pillar of golden light came down from the sky to give her power.

What would have happened is that Frey should have gotten more power from the Goddess Freyja but the one she is fighting is the Goddess of Earth Sif. If there is one goddess that the Goddess Freyja is closed to on the Aesir side then it would be the Goddess of Earth Sif. It also means that both of them are aware of the divine energy that they have and it can lead to unexpected consequences.

The Goddess of Earth Sif suddenly launched or rather bombarded the golden pillar of light with her own divine power. The divine power that should have descended unto Frey suddenly scattered. The connection between her and the Goddess Freyja suddenly became destroyed with just the mere attack from the Goddess of Earth Sif. It was not even a special attack that could weaken the other party but it was just a blast of divine energy onto Frey’s body.

“How is she able to do that?!” Frey thought as she did not know that a skill could be cancelled just like that.

The Goddess Descent skill that would usually give her an edge in battle is suddenly cancelled out by another goddess. This is the first time that anyone or rather the first instance in where a skill related to the gods is canceled. The fact that there is now a way to do so is something that others will learn in the future but it is also something that is now giving Frey a difficult time.

“You are just like your goddess. It seems that you have started to resemble her because of having some part of her descend into your body. The way that you are flustered is almost the same that it is uncanny.” The Goddess of Earth Sif stated as she slammed her spear on the ground to create a crack where earth spikes sprouted out.

“If I cannot have my goddess descend then I shall need another way!” Frey stated as she started to gather the power that she has been bestowed upon by another divine being.

Frey is about to activate her skill when the charm hanging by her waist suddenly cracked. She immediately gained some distance from the Goddess of Earth Sif and looked at it carefully to make sure it was not her hallucination. The charm that was given to her by the guards of the Great Star Gazer has suddenly gotten damaged. It is a charm connected to the entrance to the sanctum of the Great Star Gazer.

The charm having cracks meant that the gate has been forcefully opened or destroyed. It also means that there is someone or something that could endanger the Great Star Gazer. Frey is tasked with protecting her at this time but the Great Star Gazer told her that she could join the battle in protecting the kingdom. If she had known that there would be a sneaky enemy then she would have stayed there even if the Great Star Gazer insisted that she go out.

“Frey!” Brunhild shouted as she immediately blocked the incoming spear thrust from the Goddess of Earth Sif that almost blown away Frey’s head.

“Ugh! Stay with me here! You are fighting a goddess!” Brunhild stated as she got pushed back a bit and her hands felt numb from blocking the attack with her own halberd.

“I am sorry, sister! The Great Star Gazer is in danger.” Frey stated as she showed the charm to Brunhild which the latter immediately understood.

“Go!” Brunhild stated with conviction.

“But… I cannot leave you here to handle her alone. She is stronger than both of us combined.” Frey stated as the power that the Goddess of Earth Sif is showing has yet to be shown.

Frey knew that the Goddess of Earth Sif is observing and carefully assessing everything. The Goddess of Earth Sif is not even using the feints that Frey showed earlier as if she already knows the battlefield. The Goddess of Earth Sif has yet to reveal her real abilities to them and that is what scares Frey. A goddess that is not arrogant and is level headed enough to notice even the small things.

“I can manage on my own. Go and protect the Great Star Gazer. She is a vital part of the survival of this kingdom. We need to make sure that she is safe and alive.” Brunhild stated but the Goddess of Earth Sif has finally stopped observing both of them.

The Goddess of Earth Sif does have the intention of having the barrier of the kingdom destroyed but she was also given a different task by the God of Mischief Loki. The God of Mischief Loki told her to gather as much attention as possible with the troops and to make sure that the powerful combatants from the enemy side is distracted from fighting her. This is also one of the reasons why she is conserving some of her strength despite Frey not being at her level.

“Did Tyr lose? I can no longer detect his presence from the battle. I also felt the energy of Odin as well. It seems that he intervened in the fight as I can now feel that disgusting energy of the Beast of Ogdoad.” The Goddess of Earth Sif thought as she then refocused back to the enemies in front of her.

The Goddess of Earth Sif knew that Brunhild was the one that originally fought against the God of War Tyr. If she is here then either the God of War Tyr has fallen from battle or an unexpected variable came up like an external force. Nevertheless, the Goddess of Earth Sif knew that if the leader of Valkyries left to help her other sisters means that the one that was left with the God of War Tyr is powerful enough to handle him.

The Goddess of Earth Sif then noticed that the Valkyrie that she was fighting earlier tried to run away. It seems that this Valkyrie is very perceptive or rather has a charm that made her notice something strange happening to another person. The Goddess of Earth Sif felt an instinct that the Valkyrie named Frey is about to head towards the location where one of their targets is hiding.

“Do you think that I will let you leave so easily?” The Goddess of Earth Sif stated as she was tasked to make sure that no one will check on the Great Star Gazer.

The Goddess of Earth Sif slammed her foot on the ground and it created a powerful tremor that actually made Frey fall down. The ground then started to open up in order to devour Frey whole. She is suddenly being swallowed by the ground. The Goddess of Earth Sif made sure to control the ground itself to trap this Valkyrie as she knows that even the God Loki would have a problem if the Goddess Freyja descends.

“Do you think I am here just for show?” Brunhild stated as her entire armor suddenly glowed in a faint starlight of seven colors.

Brunhild then charged towards the Goddess of Earth Sif and the light emitted by her body formed into wings. She became faster than before and charged straight towards the Goddess of Earth Sif. The Goddess of Earth Sif suddenly lost her concentration which weakened the spell she was using to keep Frey trapped. Brunhild and the Goddess of Earth Sif clashed with one another which resulted in a powerful shockwave.

Frey immediately used the chance that she was given to escape from the jaws of the ground. The force that pulled her down has also weakened enough that she could escape on her own. She is about to aid Brunhild in her fight with the Goddess of Earth Sif but her sister turned to her and spoke with conviction.

“I can handle this. Go!” Brunhild shouted.

“Thank you, sister!” Frey replied as she is not one to be stubborn when someone is doing you a favor.

“Did you think that I cannot deal with the two of you?! I am the goddess of earth! The ground beneath my feet is a weapon that wield!” The Goddess of Earth Sif shouted as she erupted in anger.

Numerous earth spikes suddenly exploded in the entire area and it even erupted from the Goddess of Earth Sif’s location. She made sure that she had all the bases covered because she cannot be harmed by the ground itself. She believed that she managed to kill the two Valkyries with her sudden outburst but some of the spikes shattered to dust when a glittering light erupted from it.
