Chapter 2680: A Gate Left Opened

“The very observant and dutiful Mediator of Death left a gate open for me to pass through. I guess he already knew that some of you might escape from the Shinigami which is why he cheekily opened a special gate just for me. In return, I helped him fused effortlessly with the divine essence of the Monkey King.” King Yama stated as he is one of the reasons why there is no negative effects on Adrian when he transformed into the monkey king.

“Why did you help that demon!? You also hate that darned monkey! He erased his name on the Book of the Dead that you guard!” The Fallen Goddess Nuba stated.

“I might find it irritating that I was once tricked by that monkey but I hate those that violate the rules more. The Seal of Four Directions is not completely functioning which means that all of you that die here will not automatically reincarnate into mortals. I can finally get some servants (slaves) to do some of the work that I am overloaded with.

The Mediator is really good with his work to the point that I want to be on his good side. I guess I should help him with something that he needs. I can at least do that much as this is such exemplary service.” King Yama stated as he happily threw the soul of the Fallen Goddess Nuba to the underworld.

Just as King Yama said, all of the fallen gods that die here would try to escape using their divine souls. Some would just straight out run away while others want to find a freshly killed mortal body to inhibit to escape. Unfortunately for them, King Yama has already descended into the area and is just patiently watching all of them to drop like flies.

Once a fallen god dies, King Yama would trap it with the Flames of Judgement and send it straight to the afterlife. He could have tasked any of the Shinigami to do the collecting but souls of gods take very delicate work. Even the most powerful Shinigami can miss the divine soul of a god if they were powerful enough to avoid detection.

Also, King Yama tasked all of the Shinigami to not get close to his general area. All of them are stationed outside the battlefield to check if there were some that were missed by their ruler. One would think that one or two souls will escape but King Yama has already enveloped the entire battlefield with his own domain. Any soul that is released in his domain will immediately be imprisoned by the Flames of Judgement that prevents escape.

King Yama is also making sure that his presence will never be detected by fellow gods. This is the ultimate version of the skill that Silent Ghost uses. Death God Walker is a skill that is exclusive to all the gods of death that makes them unable to be seen or sensed by even gods themselves. A powerful skill that is reserved only to those that rule over death but it is granted due to them being unable to move freely in the mortal realm.

“The fact that the three of them do not choose to flee but instead take revenge means that they have not detected me either. I shall watch the battle then as this is quite the entertainment while busy with work.” King Yama stated as he created a very comfy chair from nothing and iimmediately sat there to observe the movements of the three fallen gods that he is slightly wary of in fear of running away.

The three fallen gods that King Yama refer to are none other than the remaining three of the Four Demonic Generals. The Fallen God Izanagi, Fallen Goddess Izanami, and the Fallen God Chiyou were all powerful enough and sensitive enough to catch on that a death god was watching the battlefield. Even if those three fallen gods might not be able to see King Yama, the presence of a god of death is noticeable especially to the Fallen Goddess Izanami.

What King Yama thinks is true but the Fallen Goddess Izanami is filled with rage to find the mortals that killed her before. She was a bit wary earlier when she detected the presence of her son that she was sure she killed but returned back to her original plan when her son’s presence vanished. She was not sure how her son managed to survive but she will just need to find answers for herself.

The Fallen Goddess Izanami turned herself into black mist that surged towards the location of the beings that killed her. She was precise and cold as she targeted the first one that proved to be incredibly troublesome to her. The first target of the Fallen Goddess Izanami is none other than Hexy. She locked onto the Black Fairy that is cursing all of the surroundings and made sure to hide her killing intent.

Hexy did not even notice the presence of the Fallen Goddess Izanami as the latter is now vastly different from their previous encounter. The Fallen Goddess Izanami is now in a more powerful state of being and could hide her entire presence completely. She managed to get this skill because she did die once and is an inferior version of the Death God Walker. The skill that she is using right now is called Dead Goddess Walking that erases her presence completely even to those that have powerful sensing abilities.

As if she came from a horror movie, the Fallen Goddess Izanami suddenly manifested behind Hexy. Her target was too late in noticing her presence as her sickles already chopped off Hexy’s head from her neck. All of the curses that Hexy released in the area is suddenly destroyed as she was the one maintaining all of them.

“Strange. Why do I feel like I did not kill that mortal?! I cannot see her soul anywhere.” The Fallen Goddess Izanami stated unknown to her that an intrigued God of Death was watching all of what is happening with a smile.
