Chapter 2369 - 2369: Pantheon Guild from a Spy’s Perspective
(Spy POV)
The Pandemonium game has received a massive shakedown when it comes to the shift in power dynamic. The title for the strongest guilds is often only given to guilds that have at least ten thousand members as this was enough to make themselves a powerhouse. Players are the most valuable resource in the game as we were led to believe. Even the Followers of the Dark Gods that are not registered as a guild could be said to be a powerful force as a lot of players are also part of their group.
All of this should be the ultimate truth but there is one guild that is incredibly odd compared to the rest of the top guilds. This guild is not even part of the top guilds in the guild ranking list as their major contribution is only in the realm of medium size guilds, but they are a guild that has less than one hundred members. The fact that they could achieve such contributions in the ranking with only a hundred member is insane as a medium sized guild would need a thousand or so players playing daily to do that.
This is why I as well as other spies have infiltrated Avalon to check on what is special about the Pantheon guild. A guild so secretive that they even kicked out some members of the initial selection. The ones they kicked out were spies from another guild though while those that remained are also not normal.
“Those Pantheon guild members are not normal. I had to follow one to a poisoned swamp because my guild leader told me to recruit her.” One of my spy friends from another guild stated.
“At least you just need to ingest a Detoxication pill. I had to follow one in each restaurant that he went to. You cannot enter restaurants without eating which is why I already lost the allowance given to me by the guild master. I did learn the locations of the best restaurants though so if you guys want that information then pay me for it.” Another spy friend stated while he sent the encoded information about the restaurants for one gold coin.
“What happened to him?” Another spy asked as he pointed at one of us that looked like he was hangover.
“All of you had it easy compared to dealing with him. I thought my cover was blown but I ended up becoming a test subject because I was noticed. I did get paid one gold coin per potion that I ingested but it was basically torture. I did get some cool skill called Minor Poison Immunity though.” The spy with a hangover stated as he made a motion that look like was about to puke.
“Why would you even agree to that?” I asked.
“Well, my guild master is an alchemist that wants to recruit him, but Brew is like a potion maniac. I do not even know how Guild Master Equinox keeps them in check. Maybe he is a bit crazy just like them.” The spy with a hangover stated.
“Do not slander Guild Master Equinox like that!” I suddenly stated which made the others nod their heads.
It seems that I am not the only one that is a big fan of him. I maybe a spy but I have standards when it came to idolizing a great player. Also, he is such a refreshing breath of fresh air when it comes to guild leaders. He actually made being in a guild bearable as other guild masters as they do not wish to be lower than him when it came to standards.
I guess the spy network did their best in order to report the great image of Guild Master Equinox. Due to his great territory management, our territories also learned how to keep their citizens happy which actually solved minor problems. I guess my reports of how the standard of life here in Avalon has been very useful to my guild master.
“Sorry, I am late guys. I had to meet up with my merchant friend as I had to get that bottle of honey.” Another spy came in and he is actually the most laid back amongst all of us, but we like him for his friendly nature.
“Did you not meet up with the one you are observing?” I asked as the one he was observing is the most difficult to see amongst the Pantheon Guild members.
“No luck again. I guess he is as elusive as his name as it is, Silent Ghost. I did meet up with a very cool big brother that uses a gun though. He even taught me about how to use guns and that he is heading to the Gnome Kingdom to get upgrades. I hope he gets what he needs as his gun looked super cool.” The aloof spy stated as he offered us toast with honey.
“This is incredibly tasty!” The food stuffed spy stated. If he said that then it must be really tasty since he is following Gourmet.
Gourmet is quite peculiar as well since he is a Chef player, but he actually can fight and do well in combat. He is said to also pursue the ultimate test but that is what the food stuffed spy told us. Also, it seems that he is not liked by the Guild Master Equinox’ dragons and the monsters at the farm for some reason. The Capricorns would even kick him as soon as they see him as if they were offended by him.
One odd thing about Gourmet is that he does not have a stall in Avalon despite being a chef player. Chef players often need something like Appreciation Points that is automatically given to them when they satisfy the hunger of another NPC or a player. He does not have a restaurant, but he likes to do restaurant takeovers which a player will be lucky if they buy food from him.
Gourmet would elevate that restaurant’s signature dish could give the players a small stat increase if they were lucky enough to eat it once. This is why a lot of guild masters want to recruit him because his food basically gives stats per signature dish that he elevates or creates. He is rumored to have a very harsh tongue when a food does not taste good though. A tongue so harsh that he was even branded as a criminal in one kingdom as he basically cursed the royal chef’s cooking for being bland and mediocre.
“Speaking of Brew, did you at least get his friend invite?” I asked the spy with a hangover.
“If it was that easy then I would have. I was about to ask him, but I had to go to the restroom to relieve myself as well as throw up. When I returned, Lady Jianna told me that he already left to hunt down a really peculiar herb in a place called the Forest of Lament.” The spy with a hangover stated as he excused himself to the restroom again.
“At least he got that cool skill that lets him be immune to lesser poisons. That skill is what a spy should have always. Maybe we should apply to be potion testers as well.” The spy that was silent earlier finally stated.
“I thought you were just sitting here with us and observing.”
“I suddenly became a bit disoriented as I was really listening to her songs for quite a while. I think I was only hearing muffled voices earlier as a result of being blasted by her choice of music.” The spy with hard hearing stated.
“It must be rough since you are the one looking after Exodus.” I told him as I placed a hand on his slumped shoulder.
“I did not even know that heavy metal was a genre of music here in Pandemonium, but I now know that you could create that music as a bard.” The spy with hard hearing stated as he looked like he was crying but I know that you also became an avid fan of that genre. You were even raving about it to me the other day as you got tickets to a heavy metal concert.
All of us here could barely be considered normal because we are observing abnormal people in the game. I guess it is too harsh to call them abnormal since they are not bad people, so we call them peculiar. At least they are people that play the game for themselves like us spies here. We are spies because we like to play as spies since we cannot do so in real life.
“Anyways, I heard a rumor going around that Guild Master Equinox is a battle junkie. I immediately sent bad reviews on that thread for spreading slander.” The spy with a hangover stated as he just returned from his visit to the restroom.
“This cannot be! What is that thread! We must stop the slander!” All of us agreed and sent harsh remarks of slander in that thread.
