New Eden: Live to Play, Play to Live

Chapter 1130: Loved One’s Betrayal

Chapter 1130: Loved One’s Betrayal

Holding the t-shirt in his hands, Alexander could barely believe it.

"I can’t wear this..."

Sadly, Alex had already taken off and thrown away his tattered shirt when he came into the restroom. And he wasn’t about to rummage in the trash to grab it back.

But the other option was to wear this humiliation that Kary had given him with a wide smile.

"Betrayed by my own woman. Unbelievable..."

He reluctantly put the shirt on, refusing to believe she had done this on purpose. Unfortunately, deep down inside , he knew.

He knew she had a playful side to her that would result in these kinds of shenanigans. He was just hoping they would happen within the confines of their home, in private.

Walking out of the restroom, Alex looked at Kary with a gloomy expression.

"How could you?" he grumbled.

Kary beamed at him in response, containing her laughter with all her might.

"It looks lovely on you!"

Unfortunately, she was the only one to hold back the laughter.

*Pfft!*

"Hahahaha! What the heck?!" David clamoured, bursting into laughter.

Alex glared at him, but the shirt on him cancelled out the anger in his eyes.

As more and more of their group amassed in front of the restrooms, the laughter spread, regardless of how most of them tried to hold it in or not.

Alex’s shirt had a massive print on the front, depicting a chow-chow dog, his face drawn in a smile, with the words ’Mama’s goodest boy’ under the dog.

"The cashier told me the chow-chow was the local sacred animal. I never imagined the shirt would look this good on you, though," Kary said, giggling softly, tears forming at the corner of her eyes from containing a full-on laughter.

"I need a vest or a hoodie. Something to cover this," Alex growled.

"No!" everyone exclaimed at the same time, garnering unwanted attention.

They took the sudden gathering of eyes onto them as their sign that they needed to leave. But that didn’t stop them from laughing at Alexander’s look in silence.

He was utterly unamused by the situation, though. He also knew what would happen the moment he stepped back into the vehicle with Kujaku.

"I thought you loved me," he whined at Kary, who was still holding her lips pinched to keep herself from laughing.

Alex hadn’t seen it yet, but the print from the front was also plastered on the back of the shirt. There was no escaping it.

"Aww. Don’t take it that way, darling. This is purely out of love. You are, after all, my goodest boy," she said, chortling under her breath.

Alex’s shoulders slumped at the mockery. Even if she meant it with the purest of hearts, the laughter was hurting his ego a little.

But he endured.

’I’ll get her back,’ he swore to himself.

’I would never do that to you, master,’ Paimon’s voice came from inside his mind.

’Shut up.’

Paimon went back to radio silence, but he could tell she was still lurking at the edge of his consciousness.

As he imagined, the moment he walked closer to the SUV Kujaku was sitting inside, he saw her window lower.

"Aww. Who’s a good boy?!" she said, clapping her hands toward him as if she were calling a dog.

"Fuck you."

"Come here, boy!" she added, whistling a bit as well.

"I will tear your head off, Kujaku. Don’t test me," Alex threatened her.

She laughed in response.

"You wouldn’t be the goodest boy anymore after that now, would you?" David asked, pushing him playfully.

Kujaku chuckled, winking at David.

"Go to hell, both of you," Alex growled, getting into the vehicle.

"Eh, been there, done that. Not much to see, honestly," David joked with a shrug.

It took everyone no more than ten minutes to go into and come back out of the rest area, and be back in their respective vehicles. And with this quick pit stop, the convoy hit the road again.

Taking all the back roads they could meant their itinerary was significantly longer than it needed to be, but they garnered a lot less attention this way.

Of course, a convoy of black SUVs would always garner some attention from the locals in the villages they crossed through. But it was still less eye-catching than them driving on the highways and such.

As night started to creep up on them, Kujaku decided staying in a hotel that night might be a little too risky. They still had many groups tracking them, after all.

There was no telling how far their pursuers were willing to go in their hunt for them, so she would rather not register into a hotel as a sizeable group and flag them.

And since every hotel, motel, and lodging institute used computer logging nowadays, it was sure to show up somewhere.

Kujaku quickly ordered one of her men to scout for a suitable place to camp out for the night, and within minutes her earpiece buzzed back.

She entered the next stop into her phone’s GPS mentally, and the new itinerary popped up on her screen.

Alex saw the change and became curious, but he kept the questions for when they would be stopped.

It wouldn’t take long, anyway. He could see from the screen that their next destination was about fifteen minutes away from their current location.

It was only once they pulled off the asphalt road and onto a dirt road that the others noticed the change, and questions started to fly.

Every vehicle had to deal with the curious passengers in its own way, most of them deciding to outright ignore the questions. But Kujaku was a little more socially trained.

When she saw the question marks on the faces of those sitting completely at the back, she decided to speak up before the questions rose.

"We are at too much of a risk to take lodgings in any official building tonight. Too many eyes looking for us, and all. So we are camping out for the night.

"Worry not, however; my men are trained to set up camp promptly and make it comfortable enough for the more, fashionable, clients we might be moving. So you won’t be sleeping on cold dirt," she said, trying to sound reassuring.

No question came at her after that, and she almost frowned.

’Do they not care about sleeping outside? I was half expecting the girl to complain, seeing she’s from a wealthy background,’ she mused.

But then, it struck her.

’That’s right. Most of them have surely already camped out within New Eden already. Of course, they would be disillusioned already. I don’t know why I even worried,’ she chuckled mentally.

’I guess this makes things easier for everyone.’
