Faced with the Five Elders’ furious questioning, Sengoku chose silence.
Was this really his fault? Shin Uzumaki had his own legs—where he chose to go was hardly something Sengoku could control.
But facing the Five Elders’ blame and criticism, Sengoku had no intention of arguing back. What was the point? Would defending himself actually stop them from tearing into him? Not a chance.
“No matter what, Enies Lobby cannot fall. DO YOU UNDERSTAND, SENGOKU?” The Five Elders’ icy voice came through.
“I understand.”
Sengoku nodded.
He could only say he would do his best. Protecting Enies Lobby from Shin Uzumaki was easier said than done.
After hanging up the Den Den Mushi, Sengoku shot a glare at Garp, who was clearly enjoying himself. How could he find this amusing??
“What did the Five Elders say?” Garp asked Sengoku.
“Don’t tell me you didn’t hear what the Five Elders said,” Sengoku said with a straight face.
“I heard. But this isn’t going to be an easy mission. It’s a huge pain for us.”
Garp said.
A huge pain was an understatement. It was a complete disaster. How were they supposed to deal with Shin Uzumaki? Hopefully, his target wasn’t Enies Lobby itself.
“Even if it’s a false alarm, it’s for the best. I hope his target isn’t Enies Lobby. And what is his purpose, anyway?”
Sengoku stared at Garp and asked.
Garp looked back, completely baffled. Why was Sengoku asking him? How the hell was he supposed to know what Shin Uzumaki was planning? He wasn’t a mind reader.
“I have no idea what his purpose is. Let’s just prepare for the worst.”
Garp sat on the coast without a word, waiting for Shin’s arrival.
Sengoku also didn’t speak. At this moment, he was prepared. Even Roger had been hunted by them until he was running for his life. Why should they be afraid of Shin Uzumaki?
Of course, that was just Sengoku trying to pump himself up. Deep down, he had no clue what he was getting into.
“Spandam is on Enies Lobby, isn’t he? I remember Shin Uzumaki killed his father, Spandine…”
After a long while, Sengoku said to Garp.
“I know, but what does that have to do with us? He’s a CP agent,” Garp said, picking his nose, unconcerned.
“HE’S HERE.”
Just then, Garp’s expression turned serious, his eyes locked on the distant sea. A ship was approaching. It was the Kuja Pirates’ vessel—and Shin stood at the bow, gazing at Enies Lobby from afar.
————
“Well, well, looks like we’ve attracted some big shots.” Shin spotted Sengoku and Garp.
This was Shin’s first time meeting them since arriving in this world, but that didn’t stop him from recognizing them.
“Fleet Admiral Sengoku and Marine Hero Vice Admiral Garp. This could be trouble,” Olvia murmured.
Fortunately, the three Admirals weren’t here. Even with Olvia’s complete faith in Shin, she didn’t like the odds of facing five Admiral-level opponents at once.
The pirate ship drew closer to Enies Lobby. Neither Sengoku nor Garp made the first move—they wanted to see if there was any chance for negotiation.
If they could get Shin Uzumaki to back down through words alone, that would be ideal. Of course, Sengoku knew the odds were slim, so he wasn’t holding his breath.
————
“Shin Uzumaki—coming to Enies Lobby like this… is this your way of challenging the World Government??” Sengoku’s icy gaze was fixed on Shin.
“Looking at you two, I’d say you’re not exactly eager for a fight.” Shin leaped off the ship and strode toward Sengoku and Garp.
Olvia and Hancock followed him down. Robin and the others remained on the ship.
After all, Robin’s current strength was still a bit weak in comparison.
Hancock and Robin were roughly the same age—Hancock only slightly older—but their strength levels were worlds apart. The reason was simple: Hancock was obsessed with getting stronger, while Robin saw power as secondary to knowledge.
Hard work paid off, and it showed in their abilities.
“We’re not afraid to fight you, but we don’t want the people on Enies Lobby getting caught in the crossfire,” Sengoku said with conviction.
Shin waved dismissively at this and chuckled. “Alright, let’s skip the pleasantries. No need for the noble act.”
All this talk about not wanting to fight him was a lie. If they were truly confident, they would have attacked without hesitation.
It was only because they weren’t confident that they were saying this.
“You don’t want to fight? Fine by me—neither do I. Now hand over Tom, and I’ll leave. Refuse, and don’t expect any mercy.” Shin’s voice was calm as he addressed Garp and Sengoku.
“Tom??”
Sengoku and Garp’s brows furrowed. They didn’t know this person.
Of course they didn’t know. Tom’s case wasn’t under their jurisdiction—the Five Elders would never hand something like that over to them. Sure, the Marines were technically their subordinates, but the trust between them wasn’t as strong as it appeared.
“The World’s number one shipwright—the horned fish-man. You should know who I’m talking about now—”
Shin didn’t believe they wouldn’t know after that description.
If they claimed ignorance now, they were definitely putting on an act. After all, Tom had built a ship for Roger himself.
————
“Oh, that Tom.” Garp finally realized.
Sengoku and Garp looked at each other. Why was Shin Uzumaki looking for Tom?
But even if Shin Uzumaki was after Tom, Sengoku couldn’t make that call. Tom was being held by a CP organization—and as Fleet Admiral of the Marines, Sengoku had zero authority over them.
They answered directly to the Celestial Dragons and the Five Elders.
“IMPOSSIBLE.”
Sengoku flat-out refused to hand Tom over. It wasn’t just that Tom wasn’t in his custody—Sengoku didn’t have that kind of authority anyway. But even if he did, he wouldn’t give Tom up. The man possessed something that could change the world.
That had to be Shin Uzumaki’s real goal. Sengoku wasn’t naive—he knew about the Pluton blueprints, at least enough to understand their significance.
He absolutely could not let the blueprints for Pluton fall into Shin Uzumaki’s hands. The stakes were too high, the consequences too catastrophic.
Whatever it took, he had to keep Shin away from Pluton…
————
“Since that’s not happening, I’ll just have to find Tom myself.”
Shin said calmly.
This time, Shin’s target was the Pluton blueprints—and failure wasn’t an option. Even if Tom was locked away in the Holy Land of Mary Geoise itself, Shin would march right in there and drag him out.
“GARP, LET’S DO IT. YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THE THING IN TOM’S HANDS IS—IT ABSOLUTELY CANNOT FALL INTO THE HANDS OF ANY PIRATE. YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT DID.”
Sengoku said seriously to Garp.
