Chapter 3095 - 3095: The End of Time (5)
BANG!
The effect was instantaneous and catastrophic. Nian Shi’s body became a battleground. Violent, uncontrolled creation erupted within him.
Organs turned into nascent galaxies, bones crystallized into newborn stars, his veins became rivers of primordial light.
“ARGHHH!!”
He screamed, a continuous, agonized sound as his very essence was rewritten against its nature. He was a being of endings trying to force himself to become a beginning.
Yin, watching from a distance while trying to stabilize his wound, saw the madness unfold. His eyes widened slightly. This was a variable he hadn’t anticipated—a truly desperate move.
“Fool! He’ll tear himself apart!” Yin muttered, then raised his voice, shouting across the void to Yun Lintian. “Boy! Don’t just stand there! Kill him now, before he completes the absorption! If he succeeds, however unstable, he will be a problem!”
Yun Lintian, however, did not move. He simply watched Nian Shi’s agonizing transformation with the same calm, detached expression. He completely ignored Yin’s warning.
Yin scowled. “Arrogant fool! You will regret your mercy!”
But Yun Lintian’s inaction was not mercy. It was something far colder. As Yin’s mind raced, searching for a way to escape the predicament once the two titans were done, Yun Lintian observed the process with the analytical eye of the true master.
Nian Shi’s gamble, against all odds, seemed to be working. Through sheer, insane willpower and the stolen knowledge from Yun Lintian’s memories, he was forcibly integrating the Spark. His screams subsided, replaced by ragged, powerful breaths.
The chaotic eruptions within him began to stabilize. The terrible injuries on his body, including the wound from Yin, healed over, leaving flawless skin that glowed with intense power. His aura swelled once more, becoming even denser, more overwhelming than before.
Finally, the process completed. Nian Shi stood tall, his body radiating the terrifying power of the primordial source. He threw his head back and laughed, a mad, triumphant sound.
“SEE?! I DID IT! I HAVE ABSORBED THE SOURCE! I AM INVINCIBLE! I AM THE TRUE RUL—”
His triumphant declaration was cut off.
THWACK!
A sound, brutally mundane and physical, echoed in the cosmic silence.
Yun Lintian had not used his sword. He had simply appeared directly in front of Nian Shi, as if he had always been there, and delivered a solid, powerful punch directly to Nian Shi’s face.
The impact was not infused with cosmic energy. It was a plain, physical blow. But it landed with shocking force, snapping Nian Shi’s head back and stunning him completely. The mad laughter died in his throat, replaced by a grunt of pure, unadulterated shock.
He hadn’t seen it coming. He hadn’t felt any energy gathering, any spatial distortion. It was as if Yun Lintian had simply decided to punch him, and reality had obeyed.
Before Nian Shi could even process the insult of being struck in such a base manner, Yun Lintian moved again.
He became a blur. He didn’t use any grand techniques. He used his fists, his elbows, his knees. It was a brutal, close-quarters assault, a storm of physical blows that rained down on Nian Shi from every angle.
THWACK! THUD! CRACK!
Each blow landed with precise, jarring impact. Nian Shi, brimming with the power of the primordial source, found himself unable to muster his strength to defend. It was as if his connection to his own power had been severed. He staggered backward, his arms flailing uselessly, his face a mask of stunned confusion and growing pain.
“You… you…!” he tried to speak, but a punch to the solar plexus drove the air from his lungs.
Yun Lintian did not relent. As he pummeled Nian Shi, his voice, cold and laced with contempt, cut through the sound of impacts.
“Surprised?”
Punch.
“All that power,” elbow to the ribs, “and you can’t even block a simple fist?”
Knee to the gut.
“You thought stealing a spark would make you a sun?” Yun Lintian’s words were as damaging as his blows. “You are a thief who broke into a treasury and now stands bewildered, unable to use the keys he stole.”
He grabbed Nian Shi by the front of his robe, stopping his relentless assault for a moment to look him directly in his dazed, silver eyes.
“The power you just absorbed,” Yun Lintian said, his voice dropping to a deadly whisper. “The Spark of Chaos. The source of the Creator. Do you know who its true master is?”
A dawning, horrific understanding began to seep through Nian Shi’s pain and confusion.
Yun Lintian’s lips curled into a cold, merciless smile. “It’s me. I am the true heir. The true holder of the Creator’s power. That means every bit of energy you forced into your body… answers to me.”
He released Nian Shi’s robe and delivered one final, devastating punch to his jaw, sending him spinning away through the void.
“The moment you took out that spark,” Yun Lintian stated, standing tall amidst the cosmos, “you weren’t making a gamble. You were handing me the leash to your own power. You sealed your own fate.”
Nian Shi tumbled to a stop, clutching his bruised face. The invincible power he had felt moments ago was now a prison. He could feel it within him, vast and immense, but it was utterly unresponsive, like a limb that had fallen asleep.
He was a battery that Yun Lintian had just unplugged. The ultimate humiliation was complete.
Nian Shi tried to move, to raise a hand, to summon a wisp of temporal energy—anything. But his muscles refused to obey.
The power that should have made him a god was now his cage, its very weight pinning him down, held in check by the absolute authority of its true master.
Yun Lintian walked towards him, his steps silent on the non-existent ground. There was no hurry in his movement, only a chilling finality.
He stopped beside the stunned God of Time and looked down at him. There was no triumph in his eyes, only a deep, cold emptiness that had been carved out by loss.
“You’re trying to move, aren’t you?” Yun Lintian’s voice was flat. “Trying to access the power you stole.”
He leaned down slightly. “But you seem to have forgotten something fundamental. The power you’ve wielded for eons, the power of time itself… where do you think it came from?”
Nian Shi’s silver eyes, wide with dazed horror, flickered. The truth was a dagger twisting in his soul…
