My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!

Chapter 964 - 967: Probably Going to Die Laughing

Melody Thorne turned to glance back and left the hospital through a secret passage with Leo Chaucer.

"Thank you for coming today, Miss Thorne," Leo Chaucer said as he started the car to take her back. "The item Commander Hawthorne gave you is absolutely something that shouldn’t be discovered by anyone else, especially after the commander’s death. You must ensure it’s kept safe."

"Oh, by the way, didn’t I hear you call him ’General’ before? Why is he now ’Commander’?"

"This is a long story, but his current identity is indeed ’Commander,’" Leo Chaucer replied, unwilling to elaborate on the matter. "Miss Thorne, we’ve arrived."

Melody Thorne got out of the car. "Take care, Adjutant Chaucer."

Leo Chaucer saw someone behind her, a tall and muscular figure standing in the corner and completely out of place, yet somehow familiar. "Miss Thorne, who is he?"

"Oh," Melody Thorne said, turning back with a rather annoyed tone, "He’s The Gambling King from Veridia. Since he lost to me a couple of days ago, he insists on making me his mentor, like a persistent follower I can’t shake off!"

"Miss Thorne, you gamble?" Leo Chaucer asked.

"Nah, I don’t. Who knows what kind of dumb luck struck me that day," Melody Thorne replied.

Leo Chaucer’s eye twitched slightly. He remembered Orson as incredibly brave, someone who previously dared to challenge the military. Weston Hawthorne had tried several times to eliminate him but never found the opportunity, yet who would have thought this great Gambling King would be subdued by Melody Thorne.

Perhaps Commander Hawthorne had good judgment after all and might bring them unexpected surprises.

"Miss Thorne, your luck is truly remarkable," Leo Chaucer said sincerely.

Accidentally winning over The Gambling King, accidentally acquiring a powerful private team—others might just die laughing!

"Haha... It’s okay, it’s okay," Melody Thorne responded humbly.

"I’ll be off. Here’s my business card; if you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask," Leo Chaucer said, handing over his card.

"Alright, alright."

The car drove away, and Jenson Ona cast a couple of glances toward her, his eyes showing a bit of grievance.

Melody Thorne "..."

She pretended not to notice him and entered the villa.

A tall figure had just come down from upstairs, holding and flipping through some documents. Melody Thorne rushed in and, using the momentum, threw herself at Jared Quinn, her arms hanging around his neck. "Why did you come back so early today?"

She thought he’d be back in the evening.

Jared Quinn raised his hand and lightly tapped her on the head. "How else would I know you’re sneaking out behind my back?"

"Ouch, don’t you know that hitting people is wrong?"

"That’s not hitting; it’s affection," Jared Quinn corrected her, cradling her as he led her to the sofa to sit down. "Tell me, where did you go just now?"

"Jared Quinn, do you remember the person I rescued last time?" Melody Thorne looked up. "He wanted to see me, so I went to the hospital. He doesn’t have much time left. He said he used to be friends with my grandfather. After staying for a while, they sent me back."

"Hmm," Jared Quinn didn’t delve further but instructed the butler to turn on a large screen in front of them.

Melody Thorne hadn’t reacted yet when the large screen in the hall suddenly lit up, and Albert Seymour’s image popped up.

The person on the other side visibly hesitated for a few seconds after seeing the picture from this side.

Melody Thorne "..."

She immediately got off Jared Quinn’s lap and obediently sat on a nearby sofa, glaring at the man next to her. Could he not even give her a heads-up when having a video call with her dad?
