Chapter 959 - 962: What Did You Take?
"Ma’am, Miss can recognize people now, that’s why she’s like this. Yesterday Young Master Timmy played with her for a while, she probably likes it when Young Master Timmy teases her, so when Young Master Timmy ignores her, she cries. Look, now that Young Master Timmy’s holding her, she’s perfectly fine." the maid said.
Timmy: "...I’m so little, how am I supposed to take care of her?"
"Here, here, let me." Melody Thorne took little Chien Mo into her arms and went straight upstairs. Her milk was starting to come in again!
Jared Quinn’s steps followed right behind.
Once Melody finished nursing little Chien Mo, the baby fell asleep immediately. A soft, warm little bundle nestled in her arms, so warm and so precious.
"She’s asleep, put her down." Jared Quinn walked over and took off his coat.
"I want to hold her a bit longer."
"If you get her used to being held like this, she’ll want you to hold her every day from now on." Jared Quinn picked little Chien Mo up, turned, and his mind flashed back to everything that had happened today in Veridia and what Leon Rivers had told him.
He didn’t let it show. He laid little Chien Mo in the small crib in the room, then went to the study to deal with paperwork, all the way till night.
Melody made him some coffee, pouting a little. "How come there’s so much stuff to deal with every single day?"
Jared Quinn pointed at a stack of documents not far away for her to look at herself. The entertainment company Melody had started was about to go public, and in fact there was a lot that needed her attention every day, but these past few days she hadn’t even glanced at it.
Normally, he wouldn’t bother with such tiny little matters, but since it was Melody’s company, no matter if it was a big file or a small one, he would personally handle it.
Melody skimmed two pages, then let out a soft laugh and closed the file.
"From now on I’ll handle these documents."
Now she remembered everything. Even if she’d withdrawn from the entertainment industry, she still had to manage her company properly and train the newcomers there; they would bring her endless returns.
A glint of unfathomable meaning slid through the inky depths of Jared Quinn’s eyes. He stood up. "Wait for me here for a bit."
"Okay."
Melody casually flipped through the papers. Jared stepped out and then came back again. His strong arms circled her from behind, his chin resting against the warmth of her neck, his broad chest pressed tightly to her back, his breathing a little rough.
"What did you just go do?" Melody’s heart actually started pounding hard.
"I went to get something."
"What thing?"
There was no answer from behind her; instead, her wrist suddenly felt a chill, followed by a sharp click.
Melody started, looking down at her wrist. "Jared Quinn, what are you doing?"
Her other hand went up to touch it, but that one was smoothly locked as well.
"Jared Quinn, let me go." Melody was already getting anxious.
"Why should I let you go? Have you forgotten what I said when you gave me this on Valentine’s Day last year?" Jared pressed down on her.
"I said once you’d had the baby, I was definitely going to get good use out of this with you."
"Jared Quinn, you’re cheating. I still haven’t recovered my memory yet, you can’t use this."
"Haven’t recovered your memory?" Jared’s long arm swept all the documents off the desk, pressing her down onto it, his hand pinning her head, as he undid the buttons on her clothes one by one. "Say that again—haven’t recovered?"
Yesterday, after Leon Rivers murmured his suspicion in his ear, Jared had started paying attention to the changes in Melody these days—especially how naturally she called him Jared Quinn.
