Chapter 949 - 952: Not Planning to Take Revenge on Him?
"This is fake?" Someone in the crowd protested, "The painting looks so lifelike, how could it be fake?"
"You can tell just by looking at the paper." Melody Thorne let out a soft laugh. "Maybe Miss Han doesn’t even know it’s fake, so she’s been treasuring it like some precious collectible!"
"Even if it’s fake, as long as the real one never appears, it’s still priceless. Just getting to see it today is an eye-opener!"
"Yeah, yeah, it’s not like we’d ever get to see the real one anyway!"
"You guys, help me put away this shabby thing. I’m going to hire an artist to paint an identical copy." Melody Thorne pointed at a few bodyguards not far away.
"Yes, ma’am."
Han Shan stepped back, trying to tear off a corner, but Melody Thorne grabbed her arm in one swift move. "Miss Han, sure, we had a bit of an unpleasant spat, but that doesn’t have to affect our relationship, does it? Come on, let’s go have a couple of drinks."
The crowd: "..."
"Melody Thorne, you don’t need to put on that fake act in front of me. I can’t stand you, and you can’t stand me either, right?" Han Shan picked up a glass of wine.
"You’re right, I can’t stand you." Melody Thorne gave a cold snort. "If it weren’t for the fact that you’re Elias Hale’s sister, I’d probably have already slapped you a few times. Trying to frame me in front of all these people!"
She was basically addicted to hitting people now—didn’t matter if it was a man or a woman, her hands just itched, especially when it came to scheming bitches.
"No wonder my brother will look at you twice. Turns out it’s because your temper is just like that little lover he used to have—straightforward and blunt." Han Shan let out a cold laugh.
If that accident hadn’t happened that day, she would’ve thoroughly taught Melody Thorne a lesson!
Elias Hale had gone so far for her he’d even risked his own sister’s life!
Elias Hale had a girlfriend before?
"Did you really think he just happened to end up by your side? I can tell you a secret. In fact, it was because of me. I had a serious illness; my heart was failing, and he’d been trying everything to save me. He set his sights on you, arranged to meet you because of that. His ultimate goal was all about saving me. You were just someone he planned to use in the end!"
Melody Thorne’s snow‑white fingers pinched the stem of the wine glass as she lifted the corner of her lips. "But the decision he’s made now is to leave this place."
She never cared about the process, only the outcome.
"You’re not mad?"
"I’m not. But if you dare lay a hand on me behind Elias Hale’s back, I think the little sibling bond between you two will come to an end."
Melody Thorne had never been able to figure out why, ever since she lost her memory, there was always someone trying to hurt her. Today, when she saw Han Shan, she finally understood from the jealousy in her eyes!
"My brother and I will never come to an end, and I won’t let him favor you ever again." Han Shan stood up and left.
Jared Quinn’s gaze had been fixed in their direction the whole time. As Han Shan walked away, he headed over and slid an arm around Melody’s slender waist. "What did she say to you?"
Melody Thorne snorted and ignored him. She didn’t believe for a second that he didn’t know Elias Hale had deliberately approached her!
"Mad at me?" Jared Quinn lifted her chin with his fingers, his deep, magnetic voice slightly rising.
"No." Melody Thorne took a sip of wine. "What would I be mad about?"
"You’re not mad at Elias Hale? Not planning to get back at him?" Jared Quinn narrowed his eyes, his handsome features covered in a thin layer of frost.
"Are you kidding? Elias Hale is my benefactor. He would never hurt me. Didn’t I already tell you that?" Melody Thorne frowned.
Jared Quinn: "...Then why do you only remember him and not me?"
