Chapter 860 - 861: Kiss Him, Jump Him, Take Him
"No need." Jared Quinn picked up Melody Thorne, who had fallen asleep on the couch. "When Timmy wakes up later, remember to send him back."
Simon Sutton: "..."
Is that really his biological son? He walks off with his wife and leaves his son behind.
Is he supposed to babysit here for free overtime or what?
"Five times overtime pay." Jared’s figure disappeared out of the office.
"Okay, okay."
Anything is fine; he could work overtime every day.
Melody Thorne slept soundly the whole way. If it hadn’t been for the feeling of two wooden sticks under her body, she wouldn’t have woken up at all. She slept deeply, feeling safe, and even rubbed her head against the man’s chest.
"Tsk." Melody jolted awake. Her fair little face had been scraped by one of the buttons on Jared Quinn’s shirt, and it stung a bit.
"Did it hurt?" Jared asked hoarsely, his thumb brushing over that reddened spot.
Melody’s skin was so delicate it seemed like water would seep out if you pinched it; even a light squeeze usually left a red mark, and now, after being scraped, it was even redder.
Opening her eyes, she was met with Jared Quinn’s devastatingly handsome face. His masculine, overbearing scent wrapped around her—dangerous, yet making her want to sink into it.
Melody’s gaze dropped to his thin, red lips—sensual and alluring, making people want to kiss them.
"Was I always so bewitched by you before that I couldn’t think straight?"
"And right now I’m not making you dizzy?" Jared lowered his head, his thin lips brushing against hers. He didn’t kiss her; they just touched lightly, on and off, as if tempting her to kiss him, to pounce on him, to take him.
Out of the corner of her eye, Melody saw the car roof and suddenly shoved him away. "Wasn’t I just in your office? Why am I here? Where’s Timmy?"
Jared was pushed away, his dark eyes showing some displeasure, and his tone carried a hint of jealousy. "I told Simon Sutton to take him back to the villa."
"Oh." Melody leaned against the car window. Outside was a street with all kinds of flashing lights, extravagantly bright, and it looked a bit familiar. When she glanced to the other side, she saw buildings she knew and remembered.
She used to come to this street a lot with Kiki Sutton and the others.
"When did this place become like this? I remember a few days ago it wasn’t like this."
Melody opened the car door and got out. She had no idea that the "few days ago" she was talking about was actually a few years ago—back when there was no Jared Quinn in her memories.
"Do you like it here? This is Lovers’ Lane." Jared took her small hand. The night wind blew past, and it was a bit chilly.
Melody walked with him, still trapped in her own memories. She really had no idea when this place became like this.
"So when exactly did it change to this?" Melody asked, still curious.
"Last year, on your birthday."
Melody: "So this is one of those things I can’t remember?"
"Yeah."
Melody tried hard to recall what had happened last Valentine’s Day, but her mind was completely blank.
It was an extra-long street, and every shop and food stall inside was tailored to couples—everything was for lovers.
There were also lots of retro items and adult novelty shops.
"What’s this?" Melody picked up a rod. It wasn’t made of wood; it felt like plastic, and it was taller than a person. When her fingers pinched it, it stiffened.
After Melody pinched it a few more times, it got harder and harder until it was almost impossible to bend, and the very top suddenly activated an alarm. Along with the alarm’s blaring, the tip turned red like a mushroom.
