My SSS-Rank Class Is Blood Monarch!

Chapter 370 - 370- God’s Gate (Part 8)

This was precisely Arthur’s strongest trait, even when he was facing the worst possible outcomes, he never gave up. He came close to that in many instances, but there was always a driving force that would get him back to trying.

He experienced it when his grandmother died, and he experienced it several times in the game. Fighting till his very last breath was his motto and something he could never give up on. So, when he wanted to talk to these people, he decided to be as honest and as clear as possible.

“I’m not going to make promises and make you think everyone will survive 100%. That is, of course… extremely hard. However, what I can promise you is that I will try my very best to keep every single one of you alive. No life is worthless, and no one is going to be discarded.”

Germa, who stood by Arthur’s side, was as surprised as everyone there as he translated his words. It took him a few seconds to snap out of his daze. The same could be said for the other people as they were completely astonished.

They could feel Arthur’s strong presence and confidence in every word he said. He was oozing with what they could only describe as power… A power to make people believe every word he says without even trying.

“So, all I ask from you is to trust me. We are going to need every single person here to make it out. You’re the carriers of Yonathan’s will, and I will make sure you do that.” Arthur clenched his fist as he finally ended his speech.

After that, there was complete silence. The boy didn’t even want to look up as he was anxiously waiting for some sort of reaction. Ideally, they would understand what he wanted to say and start cooperating. He also wanted to improve their spirits so that they could fight at their best.

*Click*

At that point, Arthur heard a loud click echo in his ears. He opened his eyes and looked up, and he was able to witness that sight at the perfect moment. Every single person in the group started clicking their tongues at the same time in unison.

They weren’t doing it one after the other as a sign of counting their numbers and rather all at the same time almost as if they were… clapping.

“…” The boy was completely stunned for a few seconds, watching the scene. He didn’t know how to react at all. Eventually, the boy snapped out of his daze and looked at Germa.

“Why are they clicking their tongues… Germa?”

“… They’re appreciating your words, sir. It’s a sign of respect from us.” Germa replied.

“Oh? Really?” Arthur felt all the tension in his muscles leave as a small smile appeared on his face. He was truly happy that his words resonated with them, even if only a little.

“Can you ask them if they are willing to cooperate or not?”

The man nodded his head and signaled for them to stop the cheering before he asked them. Arthur watched their faces carefully, and he was even more delighted to see them nod their heads.

‘Great… This is great.’ He thought to himself. ‘I suppose my speech abilities aren’t completely bad.’

“Thank you for trusting me, everyone. I will try my best to live up to that trust.” Arthur bowed his head slightly to show respect. “And may Yonathan’s legacy live forever!”

***

After resting for a good 30 minutes, the group finally resumed the trip. Arthur immediately noticed the change in the atmosphere amongst the Void people. They were still far from happy or excited, but their desire to live was stronger than ever.

He could see that they wanted to do this so that they could achieve that goal. They were ready to take on whatever horrors were waiting for them on that island.

“Hey, Germa, can I ask you a question?” Arthur asked.

“Yes?”

“Has anyone ever come back alive from exploring the floating island?”

This has been a question in the boy’s head ever since he learned about the existence of this mysterious island. Everything about this place was mysterious and bleak. Even Yonathan didn’t seem like he even knew what that place was. All he knew was that all his men who went there ended up witnessing horrors beyond imagination.

“… Yes, sir. Out of all the people who went there, one person was able to come back. This was 20 years ago.” The man replied.

“Oh really?” Arthur raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t expect that. Where are they?”

“They’re dead,” Germa replied. “I remember that when I was younger. We didn’t expect a survivor to make it back. Going there was a suicide attempt.”

“How did they come back?” Arthur asked, feeling the nerves slowly rise.

“We… don’t know the details. When they came back, they had sustained deadly injuries and could only do the trip back out of sheer will. We tried to save them, but all we could do was prolong their life for a few more minutes. We tried to ask them about what they experienced. However, all we could hear were two words.” As he spoke, Germa faced Arthur. “God’s… Light.”

“God’s Light?” Arthur frowned. For some reason, hearing that sentence sent chills down his spine. “What does he mean by God’s Light?”

“I… Do not know. Nobody knows. But, that expression on their face… I can still remember it vividly. It looked… as if they had witnessed something divine… Something that no human was supposed to witness. It looked like their mortal body couldn’t handle the weight of such a discovery.”

‘…’

Arthur gulped down a mouthful of saliva as he looked down. “What the hell? What did they even witness?”

‘No, hold on, this makes no sense either.’ At that moment, the boy came to another realization.

“Wait, was that person blind by any means?” He asked.

“Hm? Yes, they were.”

“…”

‘If they were blind, how did they witness ‘light’? It shouldn’t be possible, no?’

Arthur found himself in a rather weird dilemma. He didn’t think that mentioning ‘light’ was a coincidence and it was clearly intentional too. So, if a blind person can witness such a light, what could that even mean? It could either be so divine that it can cure blindness or so bright that even the eyes of the blind can see it. Both possibilities sounded more terrifying than one another.

‘Or it could be… uh, it could be just a figurative speech, right?’ He asked himself, very uncertain of that fact.

“A light that can be seen even by the blind… God’s Light befits that idea very well.” He muttered.

“Sir? Are you ok?” Germa noticed the sudden shift in Arthur’s aura for a moment.

“Hm? Oh yeah, haha, I am totally fine. Just thinking about… stuff.” Arthur shook his head. “In any case, we are going to be there soon, so let’s focus on-“

“EEEEEEER!!!”

At that moment, Arthur’s thoughts were cut off by a loud shreek coming from the dark world ahead.
