Chapter 1538: Chapter 1537: Arrival

The wait for the carriages to roll in took seemingly forever since we knew they were coming beforehand, yet even though the passengers in those carriages were yearning to be here as quick as they possibly could, there was no way they could speed things up without breaking a bit of decorum.
Politics were as murky and unnecessary as ever, but with a plethora of merchants – both old and new – as well as a handful of minor Nobility that had come to try and strike some agreements with Jahi – but were really here for the Empress – we had to adhere to as many of the ’rules’ as possible.
Even if those rules meant waiting almost an hour for a journey that should have concluded an hour or two ago; the standing and waiting around was irritating since everyone was expectant yet no one wanted to chat, like they were afraid the Empress would vaporize them the moment she arrived.
The amount of thinly veiled glares we got for talking amongst ourselves though was rather amusing, and I made note of who was idiotic enough to not conceal their mild disdain as best they could just so that they could eventually come to the realization that this trip was a complete waste for them.
It took a little while but eventually we laid eyes on the three ornate and opulent carriages rolling our way, each one taking after their respective passengers rather well; the crimson and black wood of the first was accented with brilliant gold, representing the colors of the Empire rather well as it was pulled by two flame scaled salamanders of some kind.
Then there was the black and silver carriage adorned with sharp edges and guarded by black veiled Caninekin that radiated power even from here, their mana honed to a keen edge and brandished as a warning to everyone nearby.
Finally we had the simplest yet still gorgeous red carriage emblazoned with the symbol for the Knights of Cinder, though what really gave away its passengers identity was the terrifying Asmodian Banshee operating the reins.
That wretched, tortured face adorning the helmet still gave me some chills even now, whilst the gigantic hammer and chained tome pulsed with as much power as the Sultana’s guards; seeing it was a reminder of what was to eventually come for Jahi, something we all felt since the Banshee had slowly turned to stare straight at the Demoness.
“Have fun with that eventually, Jahi… Ka’Hondi should be free any day now, and the moment the bastard is allowed to pursue that oath there is no doubt that you’ll be forced into combat immediately.”
The quiet voice of Cali tickled our ears, the Arch Fiend remaining out of sight as she made sure to remind us of what was to come, just because she could… so with that looming over our heads now, we tried to focus on the happier things, like seeing our parents and in laws earlier than we had expected.
When the carriages rolled to a stop in the middle of the square, Jahi strode forwards with the three of us a step behind her, approaching the crimson and black carriage first and reaching to open the door for its passengers.
For a brief second I was worried the two golden armored guards were going to attempt to push Jahi away, but thankfully they stood down and allowed the Demoness to open the doors and reveal the two figures within.
Stepping to the side and offering her arm, the large Demoness was dwarfed by the Empress as she stepped out, the extra foot or so of height and the breadth of her shoulders making even Jahi seem small.
Pure white robes gilded with gold and silver, the Empress was as resplendent as always, and her snowy white veil fluttered with the wind yet never revealed more than just a small patch of her skin; the sharp crown of pure Fire Crystal rested atop her head, adding to the heat that pulsed from her every breath.
Nodding to the Demoness and accepting her deep bow, the Empress turned back to the carriage first and helped her wife step down, revealing the feather clad Mother of Leone, who was almost a spitting image of her Mother.
Long ashen hair, sharp ruby eyes and pale skin that was utterly flawless, Lady Lorelei was a gorgeous woman who treaded that line between Noble grace and raw, uncontainable sensuality thanks to her abundant curves.
Yet beside someone like the Empress even a sensual beauty like Lady Lorelei was somewhat outshone, which felt odd to admit considering how gorgeous she was… though honestly it made sense considering the goliath of a futanari that was standing right there.
Raising a hand and nodding to the large crowd, the Empress kept quiet and gestured for Jahi to get up and welcome our other guests as well, allowing the three of us to step forwards whilst our wife moved to do just that.
Bowing deeply to the Empress, we paid her our respects and stood opposite of her as we awaited the emergence of the rest, which went with a lot less fanfare thanks to a single woman; when the Sultana’s carriage was opened, Lady Kio bounced out without acknowledging Jahi and immediately honed in on Anput, who was smiling wryly.
Her open style of dress revealed most of her supple body, drawing a few varied glances from the crowd before they all blanched as the tall, lithe futanari emerged behind her, that black veil secured around her face yet barely containing the sharp glare she swept over everyone.
“There you are! No letters home, not even one to tell us to go fuck ourselves?! And then you just-!”
“Kio, please. Time and place, my love.”
The raspy voice of the Sultana silenced the woman briefly, though it didn’t stop her from glaring at her daughter before turning towards me with a rather predatory grin as she ogled me from afar; the way her ears twitched and her tail swished around behind her made it abundantly clear she was excited, yet for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why.
Though when she turned to look towards the final carriage I got an inkling of the reason since her eyes were now glued to Mother, who promptly ignored her as she stepped down gracefully thanks to Jahi’s aid.
All these people gathered around to see our family coming together – at least a decent part of it – was a bit of an odd feeling for me, just like it was odd to think that I now had a family that was this large thanks to the futanari I had fallen in love with.
