Chapter 660 440: Please Step on Lady Sister's Head
"What's all the ruckus?"
The moment Jiangg Ning's cold, serious voice rang out, Jiangg Yao, who had been having a blast by the sofa, shivered. She turned her head stiffly, only to see her sister staring at her with a grim expression.
"Ningning, are you feeling any better?" As Chen Yuan saw Jiangg Ning approach, he quickly stood up and asked.
His fawning attitude was utterly detestable—or at least, that's how it looked through Jiangg Yao's eyes.
She mentally flipped him the bird.
'For some reason, Jiangg Yao just couldn't figure it out. She and Ningning had the exact same face! So why was Chen Yuan's attitude toward them so drastically different?'
He was always like this. How could Jiangg Yao possibly believe his claims of "treating them both equally"?
Seeing Chen Yuan fawning over her sister, asking solicitously about her health, Jiangg Yao wanted to roll her eyes at him. 'Looks like everyone has it in them to be a simp,' she thought. 'It just depends on who they're simping for.'
"I'm better. I was just a little dizzy earlier."
"Sis, I wasn't messing around with Master. We were just role-playing."
"What role-playing?" Jiangg Ning's frown deepened.
When it came to disciplining her younger sister, many of Jiangg Ning's habits and expressions were textbook. Never mind Jiangg Yao—even Chen Yuan could tell from her expression that she was about to lay into someone.
So he quickly explained.
"Don't listen to Yaoyao; she's just talking nonsense. It's nothing like that. She was just telling me about something interesting a friend from Tokyo said, acting it out for me. Just sharing a bit about her day."
"Really?"
"Of course it's true," Chen Yuan replied, his voice firm despite his guilt.
"Alright… Yaoyao, I'm not trying to pick on you, but you're a grown woman now. You should be more mindful. For a girl to act like this every day… it's just not proper."
"I know, I know," Jiangg Yao said, pouting with annoyance. "How many times are you going to say that?"
"And how many times have I said it without you ever changing?"
"Why should I change? I didn't do anything wrong."
Jiangg Yao meant every word.
'So what if I'm not all prim and proper in front of my own boyfriend? It's not like there are any strangers here. We're at home.'
'If I had to be as uptight as Jiangg Ning every day, now *that* would be torture.'
'Besides, Jiangg Yao couldn't stand the way her sister acted. She always felt that Jiangg Ning was only elegant and proper on the surface. In private, it's not like she was some pure, holy saint, right? She was plenty intimate with Chen Yuan!'
'So what was the difference? There was no difference.'
'So what right did her sister have to lecture her?'
Jiangg Yao's thoughts were written all over her face. Jiangg Ning could tell at a glance that her sister hadn't taken a word to heart and was instead busy cooking up some specious argument.
She immediately felt a surge of anger and was about to blow up.
But before she could.
"Alright, alright, my fault, my fault," Chen Yuan jumped in to play mediator. "It's getting late, we should all get some rest… which brings up a question. Which room am I sleeping in?"
He was asking in all sincerity.
During this trip to Tokyo, something Yaoyao said had made Chen Yuan understand a lot of things.
'There were some things you just couldn't force.'
This was especially true of the sisters' personalities; he couldn't change them just by applying pressure. On the contrary, both girls were headstrong and brittle. Even for Jiangg Yao, who had a bit less fight in her, any compromise was just a sad surrender for the sake of love.
And Chen Yuan realized he didn't like that image.
So, after coming back this time, he decided he would stop trying to force things with the sisters. He would stop scheming and plotting.
'As long as he cherished the time they still had together, that would be enough. He didn't want to wait until it was impossible to cherish it anymore and be filled with regret. By then, it would be too late.'
In the past, when faced with this question, Chen Yuan would feign ignorance. Then, at night, he would shamelessly climb into the sisters' bed and pretend to be asleep.
Perhaps it was his fear of losing them that made him constantly try every trick in the book to keep them.
Now, he was in a much more peaceful state of mind.
"How do you want to handle this?" Jiangg Ning asked, crossing her arms. She wasn't looking at Chen Yuan, but at Jiangg Yao.
"I mean, same as in Lanjing, same as at home. The bed's a bit of a squeeze, but it'll fit three."
Jiangg Yao glanced at Chen Yuan.
She grumbled, making it unclear whether she was being sarcastic or telling the truth.
"Is that… appropriate?"
"Well, what else?" Jiangg Yao piped up before Chen Yuan could speak. "If I took Master to sleep in another room, you'd find all sorts of reasons to complain. Ugh… that's just how two-faced people are… What would you do if I didn't give you an easy way out, Sister? Sigh…"
"Then it's settled," Jiangg Ning said to Chen Yuan, ignoring her sister's snide remarks. Her cheeks were faintly red. "I bought you pajamas yesterday. They're in the dressing room. Shall I take you to go change?"
"Holy cow! What did I tell you? She even bought you pajamas, and she was still asking how you're going to sleep tonight? Master, do you hear this? Was I lying when I said my sister is a total phony?" Jiangg Yao's eyes went wide, her face a mask of utter disbelief.
"Great. Let's go change into the pajamas and get some rest…" Chen Yuan said, his eyes crinkling with a smile.
"Hey! What are you two doing? I'm not dead, you know! Or have I evolved into a gas?" Jiangg Yao shot up from the sofa, practically screeching.
Next second.
Jiangg Ning turned to leave, and Chen Yuan eagerly got up to follow.
Leaving her petrified in place.
Yaoyao felt like her world was ending.
'A world where I'm the only one who gets hurt…'
'Wait, why is it so chilly all of a sudden?'
Jiangg Yao's hazy eyes slowly came into focus. Only then did she see an icy face right in front of her, staring daggers at her.
"Sis?" Jiangg Yao yelped, scrambling to her feet. "Didn't you go to the dressing room?"
"What did you just call me?"
"I didn't…" She felt a pang of guilt and gave an awkward laugh. "It was just a slip of the tongue… No, wait, a moment of temporary insanity, that's all."
Jiangg Ning suddenly broke into a brilliant smile.
"Is that so?"
"Sis… Sis! My hair—OW OW OW OW—"
…
「A good while later.」
Clutching her shoulder, Jiangg Yao trailed closely behind her sister. She bit her lip, glaring venomously at the woman who had lorded over her for twenty-six years.
'She was filled with indignation, cursing her sister viciously in her mind.'
'Just let her get one chance. One day, she would tie Jiangg Ning up and whip that violent psycho to death.'
'That two-faced phony.'
'That black-hearted viper of a woman!'
'Just because I can't beat her now doesn't mean I'll never be able to.'
'Tables turn. One day, she was going to learn how to box, get totally ripped.'
'She'd knock Jiangg Ning out with a single punch. Then she'd make her hide in her room, trembling in fear every day. The moment Jiangg Ning saw her, Jiangg Yao, coming, she'd have to drop to her knees, kowtow, and beg for forgiveness. She'd crawl over, take Yaoyao's foot, and place it on her own head.'
' "Lady Yaoyao, please step on your sister's head to show your due respect… Lady Yaoyao, I beg you, please don't hit me today…" '
'God, it hurts—'
The sharp pain snapped her out of her fantasy. Jiangg Yao clutched her bruised shoulder, sucking in a sharp breath. Her brow furrowed, and she felt so wronged she wanted to cry.
When the two of them reached the door to the walk-in closet, they found Chen Yuan hadn't gone inside.
"Chen, didn't I tell you to go get changed?"
"Er… I forgot to ask. Which of these is yours?" Chen Yuan asked, looking rather embarrassed. He was afraid of accidentally walking into Jiangg Ruxue's closet.
"They're all ours. One is just for our old clothes. Come over here."
Jiangg Ning said, pushing open the door.
Instantly, a walk-in closet, so enormous it defied his imagination, appeared before his eyes.
This was, arguably, the sisters' most private space aside from their own bedroom, and it was now being revealed to him.
There was a dazzling array of clothes, including all sorts of blush-inducing lingerie and pajamas, which he spotted in a single glance.
It was a man's instinct.
'His auto-aim had kicked in.'
