Chapter 183: An overwhelming power beyond all limits
Chapter 183: An overwhelming power beyond all limits
Isabelle and Constantine cautiously retreat before Zayn and the overwhelming dark energy swirling around him.
"What was it you always used to tell me, Platinum Death? That we should accept the limits imposed by our own bodies? That it was impossible to keep reaching higher... to aim beyond our own potential?"
A triumphant grin spreads across his face.
"If I’d listened to you... I never would’ve attained power like this! You once told me that if I ever found a way to become much stronger, I should let you know."
He slowly raises his black saber.
"Well... allow me to show you!"
CLANG!
In the blink of an eye, Zayn closes the distance between them and crashes into Isabelle.
The collision of their blades unleashes a cataclysmic shockwave.
The ground around them is instantly obliterated, as though a meteorite had just slammed into the battlefield.
Chris, Mia, Leon, and the Crimson Requiem members they’re fighting are all caught head-on in the blast.
Even Constantine struggles to keep his footing as he watches, frozen between shock and terror at the overwhelming power Zayn has unleashed.
Constantine tightens his grip around the shaft of his war hammer, ready to intervene.
And yet... he doesn’t move.
The lightning-fast exchange between Zayn and Isabelle unfolding before his eyes leaves him completely petrified.
Me... hesitating in front of my enemies... how pathetic. In twenty years of honorable service, nothing like this has ever happened. And yet... I’ve never faced opponents this powerful before. Those two... they’re simply on another level.
His gaze then shifts into the distance, settling on the battle between Mia and Evelyne.
When all’s said and done, the only thing that truly matters is recovering the Tear of Azkarith. If Isabelle and Zayn end up killing each other... that can only work in my favor
"So, Platinum Death... what’s it like fighting someone stronger than you?" Zayn says, bursting into manic laughter as he keeps attacking like a madman without letting up.
"Good question... I’ll let you know as soon as I find this person who’s supposedly stronger than me," Isabelle shoots back, unleashing a devastating slash that forces Zayn onto the defensive for a brief moment.
"If that’s how you want to play it... then I guess it’s time I started getting serious!"
"Heh... you still haven’t kicked that habit of overestimating yourself, have you?"
And yet, despite the confidence and bravado she puts on, she’s a storm of mounting anxiety and unease.
What the hell is that power...? I’ve never seen anything like it before...
Damn... just a few minutes ago, he wasn’t even remotely close to my level, and now...
I just hope he’s bluffing when he says he hasn’t gotten serious yet. Otherwise... things could get really bad...
The fierce clash rages on, the battle seemingly locked in perfect balance.
Every collision between their blood-forged weapons unleashes a devastating shockwave that levels everything around them.
Before long, nothing remains of the lush forest that once covered the hill... not even the hill itself, flattened by the relentless impacts.
After yet another exchange of blows, Isabelle and Zayn leap backward.
They’re about to charge at each other again when their eyes suddenly fall on Constantine, streaking across the battlefield at full speed toward Mia.
Without a second’s hesitation, they both break off their duel and, in the blink of an eye, dart in front of Constantine, cutting off his path.
They both have their own reasons for doing so.
Isabelle, of course, is protecting Mia from someone far stronger than the opponent she’s currently facing. Zayn, on the other hand, wants to make sure no one else gets their hands on the Tear of Azkarith.
"Hey, old man, where do you think you’re going?" Zayn taunts with a grin. "Running away isn’t like you. Don’t tell me I scared you that badly."
Constantine slowly raises his war hammer, leveling it at Zayn.
"Afraid of an arrogant blowhard like you? Not a chance. You’re nothing but a weakling so desperate that you had to resort to who knows what kind of demonic tricks!"
"A weakling... am I?!" Zayn growls through clenched teeth, his voice trembling with rage. "I’ll show you who’s weak! I was planning to kill Platinum Death first and deal with you afterward, but I guess my plans have changed. Prepare to die by my hand, you old bastard!"

"Ren... please, Ren... wake up! Please, wake up!" Zaira sobs, streams of tears running down her face.
She kneels over his unconscious, badly burned body, covering his severe wounds with her healing saliva, gently spreading it with her tongue.
But no matter how powerful Zaira’s healing magic is, it can’t weaken the effects of the Paralysis Magic still coursing through Ren’s body — not even in the slightest.
"P-Please, Ren... you can’t leave me like this! Iris and Yuzu gave everything to get you to safety... don’t you dare let it all be for nothing!"
But Zaira’s despair is instantly replaced by sheer terror the moment Raelor lands just a few steps away from them.
The instant she caught Ren as he fell, Zaira flew as far from the battlefield as she could, desperately searching for a safe place where she could tend to his wounds.
But no matter how fast she streaked through the sky, Raelor’s keen eyes never lost sight of her for even a moment, despite Iris and Yuzu doing everything they could to hinder him and buy her time.
Zaira springs to her feet at once, placing herself between Ren and Raelor.
Her furious gaze remains locked on him as a powerful aura erupts around her.
"I’m glad to see you’re doing well, Zaira Narkhalis."
"You’ve got a lot of nerve saying that, you bastard! You killed their mother — the very person you were supposed to protect — and now you’ve come back just to hurt them even more! You... you’re not Raelor. You can’t be! You may have his face and his voice, but there’s nothing left of the kind-hearted incubus who once served as my bodyguard!"
"You’re mistaken, Princess Zaira. I am Raelor — the very man to whom you gave your precious virginity shortly before fleeing with Mia Valakys."
"I’m not stupid enough to fall for that! Besides his appearance, you must’ve somehow inherited his memories as well. There’s no other explanation! Y-You... you can’t possibly be the one who stole my young heart all those years ago... I refuse to believe it!"
"Denying it won’t change reality."
"Stop making a mockery of me! Just go away! GO AWAY!" Zaira screams, her desperate cry trembling with rage.
In response, Raelor slowly raises a hand toward her as a faint violet mist begins to gather around his palm.
"R-Raelor... p-please... don’t do this..." Zaira stammers, so paralyzed by terror that she can’t even bring herself to launch a counterattack.
"Farewell, Princess Zaira. It was good to see you one last time."
