My Dream Connects to 3000 Years in the Future

Chapter 322 - 270: Breaking the Track and Field World Record: The Time of Coronation

May 2nd.

Miami Grand Slam Track and Field Stadium.

Evening was approaching.

However, the crowd’s enthusiasm hadn’t diminished in the slightest. The stands were packed with spectators from all over the world.

"Good God," a security guard who’d just finished a security check muttered, looking at the packed crowd. "I’ve worked plenty of track meets, but this is the first time I’m learning... our White-headed Eagle People are actually this passionate about sports!"

"What can you do?" another, slightly older guard shrugged. "It’s because of the rumor that the famous Dr. Chu is competing this time. God, where do these rumors even start..."

The older guard was quite unhappy. After all, more people meant a higher workload for him.

"I don’t know if he’s competing or not! But Dr. Chu definitely showed up nearby. My cousin saw him with his own two eyes!" another guard chimed in, speaking with conviction. "I suspect Chu Bamboo just wants to watch this track meet."

"I still think the organizers are just saying that to sell more tickets!" The older guard stretched his wrists, his tone full of complaint. At his age, he was past chasing celebrities, so he didn’t have any illusions about Chu Bamboo.

In his eyes, these White-headed Eagle People who had flocked here from all over just because of news that Chu Bamboo had been seen this morning clearly had nothing better to do. And to top it off, this so-called Chu was an East Asian.

God, with the current state of the world and nationalism so rampant among the White-headed Eagle People, it stood to reason... forget an East Asian becoming a star here, any East Asian who showed their face in public would be met with strange looks, if not outright curses. This whole situation was just insane!

Just as they were discussing this, a sudden uproar erupted from outside. The entire stadium was roaring as one!

"Dr. Chu!"

"Dr. Chu!!"

The security guards stared, dumbfounded, looking at one another.

"What’s happening..." the older guard mumbled. The younger guard, however, seemed to realize something. He straightened his uniform and hurried toward the field, his face alight with the excitement of seeing his idol.

...

Inside a VIP room.

The view from here was the best in the house—

Transparent glass walls and numerous broadcast televisions mounted on every side allowed anyone sitting here a perfect, 360-degree view of everything happening on the field.

"Brother... I had no idea you were actually interested in sports." Howard raised an eyebrow, his tone unreadable.

"Don’t be ridiculous," James said, his expression blank. His gaze fell on Chu Bamboo, who was just entering the field. "I simply want to see what our future ’Fool’ is planning to do."

"You still think so? But I—" Howard opened his mouth, but when he noticed James’s sidelong glance, he closed it with a wry smile.

It couldn’t be helped. It was too late for him to object now... After all, James had already convened the White-headed Eagle Faction’s meeting!

Although James had conservatively used terms like "suspected" and "high probability" during the meeting, all the plans he’d made afterward were centered around the assumption that Chu Bamboo was, in fact, the "Fool."

"Let’s make a bet," James said suddenly.

"?" Confusion appeared in Howard’s eyes. Then he heard James say, "He will definitely break a world record. But he’ll keep it within a range that humans can comprehend."

"That doesn’t prove anything, does it?" Howard frowned. "Possessing an absolute physique only qualifies him as a Golden Human! Only by awakening Divine Revelation Power and displaying Extraordinary might like that of the Sacred Artifacts... can one be called a Saint!"

Golden Humans and Saints—while the terms were often used interchangeably within the Golden Dawn... as a codename-holder himself, Howard knew very well that the two were not the same concept...

"And even if he really is a Golden Human... the most we could do is let him join the Golden Dawn! Considering he’s of East Asian descent, it would be difficult for him to even get a codename..." Howard shrugged.

"Besides, I remember The Christ Scripture saying that Golden Humans generally can’t obtain Divine Revelation Power, right? You win some, you lose some!"

"..." James gave Howard a speechless look and sighed. "A Saint’s physique is weaker than a Golden Human’s of the same stage, but that’s in comparison to a Golden Human... No matter how you slice it, they’re still stronger than a normal person!!"

Howard: "..."

’Hiss! That... actually makes a lot of sense...’

"But I still think..." Howard shrugged.

"Then let’s make a bet!" James was noncommittal, his gaze fixed sharply on Chu Bamboo. "If I win, you have to unconditionally support me on the next three motions you disagree with... whether it’s in a faction meeting or a general assembly!"

"..." Howard was about to nod and agree immediately, but deep down, he started to have second thoughts. Finally, he countered conservatively, "One!"

James stared at Howard for a long moment, a flash of disappointment in his eyes. But he didn’t say much, just nodded. "Fine."

...

At the coaches’ bench.

Coach Yuan was nervously watching Chu Bamboo in the distance when he suddenly heard a voice beside him, tinged with dissatisfaction. "Why is Dr. Chu allowed to compete in this event? Damn it, is he even an athlete?!"

Coach Yuan frowned and looked over, seeing it was a local White-headed Eagle coach, his face contorted with anger.

Before Coach Yuan could even retort, a coach from Gaul cut in directly. "Is it that serious? I just think the organizers invited him to generate some buzz... It’s not a big deal."
