Chapter 1720 1720: A New Dawn
Whoosh!
Staring at the gate as Mimir’s last words lingered in the surroundings, Odin eventually shifted his attention back towards the trio as he let out a faint sigh.
Taking note of the slightly sour expression on the old man’s face, Eve briefly glanced at Azazel before asking the former, “Should we… have Azazel accompany him?”
“There’s no need.” The old man shook his head, giving the three a wry chuckle. “Though it might not seem like it, Mimir’s the best when it comes to stuff like that.”
“I just… wasn’t expecting us to separate all of a sudden…”
Letting those words briefly linger in the air after that, Odin let out yet another sigh before returning to look at the group with a calm expression.
“So, what are we going to do now?” he asked, his face showing no trace of the emotions he felt just prior.
“Since Mimir is going to introduce Vis to our universe in my stead, I suppose we’ll be focusing on refining the quality of Vis to greater heights, then?”
“Probably at some point in the future.” Eve shook her head at the question. “Instead, we’ll be working on creating the new system of progression based around Vis.”
“Makes sense.” Odin nodded after giving the idea a bit of thought. “After all, even though the general composition of Vis is similar to aether, only those who lived in our universe before Myth Energy was introduced would probably be able to quickly adapt to it.”
“Then again, I reckon they’d take a few months at most to adapt to the new energy without losing a lot of the strength they’ve amassed in the process,” he continued, rubbing his chin once more.
“As for those that had only appeared after Myth Energy was a thing…”
The old man faintly shook his head at the thought. “They’d probably be lucky if their strength only goes down by a level even after spending years adapting to it.”
“That’s what we also think,” said Eve as she and the other two nodded in agreement. “Which is why creating a new system of progression based around the new energy is of utmost importance.”
“After all, not only would it allow you and the others to retain the strength you’ve amassed…”
“But it would also allow your strengths to reach greater heights if the new system of progression is comprehensive enough.”
Odin wholeheartedly agreed with those words.
Though the trio had not shared anything about their universe’s system of progression in great detail, with his abilities as a Celestial Ancestor, he could easily tell that the foundations the trio had laid out for themselves were greatly superior than his own.
Of course, there were multiple reasons as to why that was the case, with the fact that their universe still having its main source of energy being one of them.
However, aside from still having access to their main energy, their system of progression was also something to be noted, considering that their Primordials could do more compared to his universe’s Celestial Ancestors.
…Even though the latter group had far superior concepts than theirs.
Although he had no idea how far the three would go in incorporating their universe’s system of progression into the one they were creating around Vis, the old man was certain that cultivating it would definitely improve his strength by a notch or two once all was said and done.
“…Speaking of which, this new system of progression would also be a good opportunity to introduce new blood from your universe to the higher realms of existence,” said Adam after a bit of silence, a look of realization appearing on his face.
“It would definitely be a good opportunity, yes.” Odin nodded in agreement, only to then let out a low sigh soon after.
“However, with how long our universe has gone without energy, it’s more likely for the current generation of beings to have no aptitude for such things.”
“With Mimir possibly working around the clock to turn Vis into our universe’s main energy, it would probably take at least a century or more for beings with the lowest possible aptitude to appear.”
“Oh, there’s no doubt about that.” The three nodded at those words.
“However…”
As those words left Eve’s mouth, she briefly looked at Adam, who gave her a knowing smile in return.
Nodding in response to the smile, she then looked back at Odin as she told him, “What if I told you that there’s someone among the current generation in your universe who’s perfect to test this new system of progression?”
…
“Ugh…”
Feeling his consciousness finally return after so long, Valyr slowly sat upright as he acclimated to his senses after undergoing the ascension to Rank 5.
Spending a bit more time with his eyes closed, the young man eventually opened them, only to then find out that it was currently nighttime outside.
“Hoo…”
Not long after the latter opened his eyes, Ataraxia sat upright as well, spending a bit of time letting his consciousness return to its rightful place.
Then, feeling as if he’d finally returned to the world of the living, he opened his eyes as well, only to be greeted by the sight of a semi-dark room.
“How do you feel?” Feeling like he’d finally acclimated to his improved strength a bit more, Valyr stood up as he began to do a few basic movements.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
“Shit, but also better at the same time,” replied Ataraxia as he watched his other self go through a comprehensive series of movements.
After witnessing Valyr go through the series a couple more times, the young man went ahead and did the same thing, allowing him to get a better feeling of how much his strength had improved after ascending to Rank 5.
Swoosh!
“We’ve yet to reach the peak of Rank 5, but I already feel like my strength’s improved so much just from the ascension,” said Ataraxia, casting a few basic spells to get a feel of how much his spells improved.
“That’s because we’ve pretty much reached the peak of mortality,” replied Valyr as he slightly nodded in agreement. “The remaining 24 levels we need to level up will just bring us closer to that pinnacle.”
“Speaking of which, we aren’t going to push our level to Level 100 just yet,” he continued, giving his other self a knowing look. “I still haven’t gotten [Anathema of the Ascended].”
“…Sure.” Ataraxia nodded in understanding, giving the idea a bit of thought. “I don’t know if it’s possible to gain the title under our current circumstances, but it’s still worth a shot.”
“Considering that it has more to do with the tier and the number of those killed at that tier, it’s highly possible,” said Valyr after that, chuckling soon after.
“Anyways, shall we take a look at how much we’ve improved?”
