Chapter 1715: A Meeting Between Universes (12)
“…”
“…Damn.”
Considering that he already had an idea of what Odin was going to say, Mimir only responded to his explanation with a single word, feeling that that word was more than enough to describe how he felt about it.
“…Yeah,” replied the latter after some time, nodding in agreement as he felt the same way towards the current situation.
With their universe having lost its main energy for over 5,000 years at this point, it went without saying that everyone there had focused a great amount of their efforts towards pursuing the pinnacle of efficiency.
Naturally, that train of thought also extended towards the usage of energy.
After all, if they wanted to make sure they could live as long as possible, then they had to make sure that they used as little energy in their actions as possible.
…Especially since the amount of energy they had greatly correlated to how longer they could remain alive.
With that being said, it was no surprise that some beings in their universe looked into maximizing efficiency in other ways.
Eventually, they discovered that their efficiency could be improved even further if they were to increase the quality of the energy they wielded.
Unfortunately, with their universe having lost its main energy, only a scant number of them took the risk to refine their energies to become higher quality.
Though the minority that survived taking the risk had proven that the increase in quality did improve how efficient they were with their energy, due to how crude their refinement methods were, the improvement they received were mostly limited.
“Although it’s highly volatile, you could still consider this the second major breakthrough our universe made in refining mana to greater heights.”
“Of course, that second breakthrough is none other than the improvement to the energy’s realm of existence.”
Whilst Odin and Mimir continued to shift their gazes between the two orbs of energy, Eve decided to offer them a bit more information regarding the volatile Arcana.
“Assume that a strand of mana is equivalent to a single unit,” she said, her expression calm. “Let’s say you have an ability that needs 100 units of mana to activate.”
“In other words, you would need 100 strands of mana just to make use of that ability.”
“Now, let’s say that you aim to cast this ability as many times as possible,” she continued, noticing that the two have shifted their gaze towards her at some point. “There are two ways you could go about this, and I’m sure you already know what those two methods are.”
“Naturally, if you combine the two of them, you could exponentially increase the number of times you could cast such an ability.”
“However, for the sake of the argument, let’s say that there aren’t any ways for you to make use of the first method. What do you do?”
“You go with the second method, which is to improve the quality of the energy you use to cast the ability.”
“By improving the quality of the energy, you could have one strand assume more than a single unit of mana just because of how potent it is.”
“For reference, a strand of Arcana is equivalent to around two units of mana, while a strand of True Arcana is equivalent to about five or six units of mana.”
“And the volatile Arcana?” asked Mimir, pointing at the orb Adam was still manipulating.
“In its most stable state, a strand of that would be roughly equivalent to 30 units of mana.”
“Hiss…”
Sucking in a cold breath of air after hearing those words, both Odin and Mimir looked at each other for a bit as they absorbed the information Eve shared with them.
’Even though it’s only at the early stages of the Immortal level, a single strand is already equivalent to 30 units of the base energy,’ said Mimir, sharing his thoughts with Odin.
’Imagine if it was at the peak of the Immortal level. Wouldn’t a single strand be equivalent to around a hundred units, then?’
’It wouldn’t be surprising if that were the case,’ replied Odin, wryly smiling after noticing Adam dispel the orb he had conjured. ’After all, the gap between the early stages and the peak stages of the Immortal level is far larger than the gap between those in the Mortal level.’
’However, now that they’ve shown us that they have access to what we could basically call Immortal-level energy, there’s only one other question in my head.’
’And that is…?’ Mimir asked, only to fall silent after hearing it.
’Do they have control over energy that has reached the Celestial level in existence?’ said Odin in response, his eyes glimmering with slight anticipation as he turned to look back at Eve.
Scratching his cheek in embarrassment, he asked her, “Although what you’ve shown us has more than proved your universe’s abilities in improving energy, would it be possible to see more examples of it?”
Eve smiled at the question. “Is this question because of genuine curiosity or…?”
“Genuine curiosity,” answered the old man without hesitation. “At this point, I’m just curious how far your universe has refined its main energy.”
Seeing Odin’s companion nod in agreement with his words, the woman glanced at Adam and Azazel, only to then send multiple strands of energy amongst them as they debated whether or not to accede to the request.
In the end, the three of them agreed that they would show a couple more of the evolutions their mana had undergone thanks to the collective efforts of their universe’s beings.
However, they also agreed that they would only give the two a small glimpse of the energy that stood at the third realm of existence.
After all, exposing them to energies that were beyond the early stages of the Divine level would only narrow their horizons rather than broaden them even further.
And thus, the trio began to showcase the energies that came after True Arcana, which undoubtedly left Odin and Mimir at an utter loss for words.
…
“So, it goes mana, Arcana, True Arcana, Essentia, True Essentia, Quintessentia, True Quintessentia, then Prima Quintessentia, correct?”
“More or less.” Adam faintly nodded at the question. “Though, if you want to be more accurate, the energies with the ’True’ prefix are considered intermediary upgrades in preparation for the next evolution.”
“Makes sense.” Odin nodded in response. “After all, we did notice that the potency of True Arcana and Essentia were roughly the same when you showed us.”
“So, now that you’ve seen what we’ve achieved with our main energy, are you convinced that we could offer aid in improving your universe’s aether to a similar level?”
Seeing as the two old men were done digesting the information they’ve shared with them, Eve went ahead and struck while the iron was hot.
“As I’ve mentioned earlier, you’ve already more than proved your universe’s capabilities even before showing us the other evolutions,” replied Odin as he let out a chuckle.
“In fact, with what we’ve seen, we’re quite eager to enlist your help in improving our aether.”
“However…”
At those words, the old man looked at the trio with a serious expression.
“Once again, what do you seek to obtain from us if we were to accept your offer?”
