Chapter 1635: Breaking Barriers: The Final Trial (4)

“…No problem.”

Though he was slightly taken aback by the sincerity of Ataraxia’s response, Aeramis eventually responded to the young man’s words with a smile, his heart also feeling a sense of warmth.

Letting out a wry chuckle soon after, the man briefly scratched his cheek. “To be honest, if my abilities in the realm of time were any better, it would have been possible to increase the time difference within the barrier from 3:1 to around 7:1.”

“Unfortunately, my comprehension regarding the realm of time is still not deep enough for that.”

“It’s fine.” Hearing a hint of self-mockery appear in the man’s tone, Ataraxia went ahead and consoled him, giving him a reassuring smile.

“Not gonna lie, I wasn’t expecting you to pull out this barrier all of a sudden. In fact, I had already prepared myself to spend at least half a year or more into comprehending the five marks I’ve chosen to the best of my abilities.”

“You mentioned earlier that there’s a reason why I’m spending only a bit of time in each trial, right?”

As these words left the young man’s mouth, Aeramis looked at him for a bit before faintly nodding in response.

“I may not be able to tell you the reason why right now…” said Ataraxia in response to the nod, only to grin soon after. “But this barrier will undoubtedly help reduce the time I spend even further.”

“Glad to hear that.” At this point, the man had already stopped admonishing himself for his lack of ability to create a greater time difference within the barrier.

Smiling, he instead promised to himself that he would spend a bit more time deepening his comprehensions on the realm of time…

Just in the off-chance that he came across another monstrous prodigy like Ataraxia later down the line.

After bidding the young man good luck in comprehending his chosen marks, Aeramis went ahead and left Ataraxia to his own devices, knowing that the results of the final trial were solely reliant on what the latter could achieve within the limited opportunities he had.

Understanding that same reasoning himself, the young man took a bit of time to plan out his approach on using the opportunities, deciding to proceed with the two concepts first before tackling the three abilities he’d chosen.

“I suppose it would be better for me to tackle the Force of Raging Tempests first,” muttered the young man to himself, making his way to the pedestal containing a mark that gave off the feeling of a relentless tornado.

Briefly acclimating himself to this ferocious aura, Ataraxia began to share some of his thoughts on the concept with Valyr through [Soul Entanglement] as he used up his first opportunity on the mark containing the Force.

Whoosh!

Feeling a massive influx of information enter his mind the moment he made contact with the mark, the young man focused all of his attention and senses towards processing the information he received, trying his best to imprint all of it to memory as possible.

Fortunately, with Valyr shouldering some of the burden he was facing in accepting all of the information, Ataraxia was available to remember around three-fourths of the information the mark sent him on his first opportunity, giving him more than enough leeway to comprehend the concept as much as possible.

’If both Valyr and I were to comprehend the concept at the same time, would the effects of [Perception of the Grand Origin] stack on top of each other?’

As this question popped up in his mind, the young man gradually attuned his senses towards his surroundings, eventually reaching a state where he was melding with the world.

Focusing on the characteristics and properties that made up the Force of Raging Tempests, Ataraxia slowly deepened his understanding of the concept, only to then ask Valyr through [Soul Entanglement] to help him comprehend the concept even further.

Though he was unsure whether the hypothesis he had back when he first got the skill was actually true, after he had successfully formed an Intent Seed based on the Force he had chosen, the young man opened his eyes out of sheer disbelief as both he and Valyr were left at a loss for words from what they experienced.

Although having the two of them focus on the same thing did stack the effects of [Perception of the Grand Origin] on top of one another, the two did not stack multiplicatively.

Instead, the two working together had the effects of [Perception of the Grand Origin] stack additively, giving them the ability to comprehend concepts and various things over 20 times faster than usual.

Armed with the confirmation of the hypothesis and this newfound knowledge, both Ataraxia and Valyr delved deeper into comprehending more of the Force the former had chosen, the excitement of swiftly improving their comprehension causing their sense of time to turn into a blur.

By the time three weeks had passed within the barrier, Ataraxia was able to upgrade the Intent Seed related to the Force into a bona fide Intent, taking on the aspect of Tempest from the Force of Raging Tempests.

Though, not even a week after transforming his Intent Seed into a bona fide Intent, he was able to infuse the aspect of Rage into his Intent, officially stepping on to the stage of 8th Grade Intent as he now wielded the Intent of Raging Tempests.

Deepening his comprehension and understanding over the concept of Raging Tempests, the young man eventually rose through the ranks of Intents, spending almost three months in total to push his Intent from 8th Grade to 4th Grade.

After reaching that milestone, Ataraxia spent some time resting his mind while also bragging to Valyr about how his strongest concept was now one grade above the latter’s strongest concept.

In response, the latter told him that he had yet to understand the intricacies of the Truth Weaver Scripture, only to then add at the end that he had also comprehend the Intent of Raging Tempests to 7th Grade.

Though their bickering caused the young man to waste a bit more time on rest than intended, the young man was still able to achieve the goal he set while comprehending concepts, spending only half a year within the barrier to push the Intent of Raging Tempests to the highest grade possible.

And with that out of the way…

He moved on to the next concept.
