Chapter 1462 - 1462: Myriad Prodigies: Second Round - Valyr (4)
“Hooh, hooh, hoooh!!!”
Beating its chest as an act of intimidation towards its opponents, the gorilla briefly assessed its surroundings before sending out a pair of fists towards its right.
“Defense!” Taking note of the faint layer of energy wrapped around both fists, Valyr hastily sent a command to those nearby, moving towards the point of contact in the process.
“[Mana Shield]!”
Whoosh!
Making it in just the nick of time, the young man swiftly hid himself behind the defensive skills of the others nearby, knowing that they had already gone past the stage of dodging the gorilla’s attacks.
Bang! Bang!
Crash!
Inwardly hoping that the combination of his shields and the others’ defenses would block the entire attack, Valyr and the others eventually let out a sigh of relief once the fists stopped just a couple layers away from their final layer of defense.
However, just as they had begun to rejoice over the fact they defended yet another of the gorilla’s attacks, the latter’s fists remained where they were, only for them to then give off wave after wave of energy.
“Escape!”
Having experienced the same kind of attack a couple of times during this current stage already, Valyr knew that none of them were well-equipped to defend against the repercussions of the gorilla’s wave-based attack.
Though he did have a few of the more courageous among them try and defend against the attack head-on, everyone there also saw how those same people were immediately forced to throw up blood from the reverberations.
With that, those that defended against the gorilla’s attack scattered away without hesitation, hoping to attract the gorilla’s attention towards them during the process.
At the same time, a trio of individuals sneaked up behind the gorilla all of a sudden, all of them wielding their signature weapons as ferocious auras emanated from them.
“Machaga, Lexoi. You guys ready?”
Making use of the opportunity the others had given him, Valyr reconvened with the two strongest people in his batch, aiming to push the gorilla to its next stage.
Receiving nods from the two in response, the young man nodded back at them as he took the forefront of their haphazard formation.
“Hey, shitface!”
“Uhoooh…?!”
Although it could not fully understand what those words meant, the gorilla still turned to look at the three, sensing the ill intent behind the words spoken.
Seeing how the three standing before it were brandishing their weapons without fear, the gorilla felt a bit of indignation rise up within it as it slammed its fists to the ground.
Bang!
However, even though its fists were already imbued with the power of the Intent Seed of Strength, the three easily dodged the attack. At the same time, they closed the distance between them and the gorilla.
“Hooh?” Having seen its opponents avoid it like the plague this entire time, a hint of curiosity soon appeared on the gorilla’s face, faintly wondering what the three would do.
Then again, it soon came to regret that idea.
“Now!”
“[Forest Sundering Cleave]!”
“[Falling Rain Slash]!”
Just as the gorilla let its curiosity get the better of him, Valyr gave the two accompanying him a signal, prompting the two of them to strike at the former with the strongest attacks they could muster.
At the same time…
“[Four Paths Azure War Arts]!”
“[Wrath of the Azure Dragon]!”
Valyr struck out with an attack of his own, transforming what was initially three separate attacks into a three-pronged attack that aimed at the gorilla’s vital spots.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Grooooohhhhh!!!!
Unsurprisingly, the gorilla did not take kindly to the attacks, especially with how the three before it had taken advantage of its kindness.
Not only that, but the attacks caused it to feel an immense amount of pain, even though the attacks themselves did not truly deal that much damage.
Getting the feeling that it would only be toyed around even further if it didn’t go all out, the gorilla tapped into a greater portion of its power, awakening one of its connections with the world as the platform started to hum.
Wooongggg…
“It begins.” Sensing the power that was starting to awaken within the gorilla, Valyr immediately had the two accompanying him retreat, continuing to look at their opponent with a solemn expression.
Whoosh!
“Grraaaaahhhh!!!”
Letting out an anger-filled cry as its connection with the world solidified, the gorilla glanced at the 100 people on the platform before slamming its fists to the ground.
Bang!
However, unlike its previous slams, the ground transformed into a wave of spikes, catching over half of the participants off guard.
“Puh…!”
Surprisingly, one of those caught off guard was none other Valyr, who did not have enough time to react to the bunch of spikes that appeared before him.
Being sent flying in the air, the young man hastily stabilized himself, only to click his tongue as he took note of the damage done to his lower armor.
“The Intent of Earth, huh…” murmured Valyr to himself, faintly shaking his head as he watched the gorilla continue to conjure spikes around them.
Throughout the multiple batches that had fought the gorilla thus far, almost all of them had pushed the gorilla to the second stage, forcing it to exert its whole power.
On the other hand, only a third of the batch had pushed the gorilla to the third stage, allowing Valyr and the others to know in advance what kind of Intent Seed it would use.
‘A Culmination Stage Intent Seed of Earth,’ muttered the young man inwardly as he continued to bark orders to those in his batch. ‘With how its improvement is close to what a 9th Grade Intent could give, it’s kind of unfair.’
‘However, considering that it’s now using a 5th Grade Intent…’
‘I fear what grade of Force it would use if we ever push it to the fifth stage.’
“Grrrrhhoooohhh!!!”
Bellowing out its grievances, the gorilla proceeded with its second wave of attacks as it began to conjure boulders out of thin air.
Then, taking note of the areas that had more participants on them, it threw the boulders with all the strength it could muster, imbuing each throw with the strength given by the Intent of Earth.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Considering that it would take some time for each boulder to land on their target area, the participants in those areas naturally moved away from them, thinking that it would be stupid for them to intentionally get hit by such massive things.
Yet, just as thought the gorilla’s attacks were over, the beast conjured yet another wave of spikes once more, only to then accompany it with a barrage of earth-infused fists.
“…That’s it.”
Feeling like the gorilla was now pushing them to leave the stage no matter what, a hint of annoyance appeared on Valyr’s face as he flared his aura even further.
Activating some of the buffing skills he’d been saving for the later stages, he swept his gaze over all the participants on the platform before giving them his final command.
“It’s time for Phase 4!”
“Show the gorilla who’s boss!”
