Chapter 4739: Commission
Chapter 4739: Commission
The elder remained silent, his gaze sweeping the clearing for a long time, but he found nothing out of the ordinary. Finally, with a sigh, he simply said, “Let’s go!” and turned to depart with his men. Only he knew that a lingering question, an unshakeable sense of unease, remained unanswered in his heart.
Two days later, in a bustling town, several wandering cultivators were taking a much-needed rest in a teahouse. One of them let out a deep sigh. “I never expected this!” he exclaimed, shaking his head.
“That’s right. That little girl is far too cunning,” another agreed, a hint of frustration in his voice.
“She’s so small and looks so cute, yet she’s incredibly scheming.” The mere thought of how they had been outmaneuvered by the child made them all shake their heads and sigh once more.
“I can’t find that little girl; I feel so uneasy!” Shen Shiqi mused, rubbing his chin. “Which family does she belong to? Yun Qi? Could ‘Yun’ truly be her family name?”
“Hehe, Old Shen, don’t even bother,” another person chuckled, patting him on the shoulder. “That little girl is like a little fox. I bet she just made up that name to trick us.” He then pressed, “Tell us, what’s our next move? We can’t find her, and we don’t know where she went. I guess we won’t be able to find her in the future, will we?”
“Can’t find her?” Shen Shiqi raised an eyebrow, a strange smile spreading across his face. “Just because we can’t find her doesn’t mean that others can’t.”
“Oh? What’s your plan?” Several of the cultivators looked at him, their interest piqued.
“Put out a commission,” he said with a laugh, his eyes gleaming with cunning. “I don’t believe that little brat can simply fly away.” He looked at the others, waiting for their reaction. “What do you all think of my idea?”
“Oh, that’s is a good idea. When the time comes, whoever sees that little girl can help us capture her first,” one of them conceded, but then hesitated. “But she’s just a child. Isn’t a commission a bit too much?”
Upon hearing this, Shen Shiqi glanced at them and let out a laugh. “She’s just a little fox. If she were truly that simple and ordinary, would the five of us have fallen into her hands? How could she slip away right under our noses? Besides, I think even if we put out the commission for her, those people might not be able to catch her. That little girl is cunning! At most, it’ll just buy us some time and let us know where she is.”
Another cultivator considered this, then offered a suggestion. “If we want to use a wanted poster, I think we can say that we are looking for a runaway sister. That way, those who go after her won’t hurt her and will know how to handle her. After all, she’s just a little girl, so they can’t go too far.”
“Alright, let’s do that!” Shen Shiqi grinned. “Hurry up and finish your tea, then let’s get to work.”
At this very moment, Yue’er had no idea that these persistent individuals had not given up and were still actively searching for her! She was comfortably seated in a quiet corner of the market in another small town, happily eating hot buns. Her attention was captivated by an old woman nearby, who was milking several sheep and selling the fresh milk.
Yue’er looked at the frothy milk and couldn’t help but lick her lips, a hint of pure, childlike greed flashing in her eyes. After finishing her steamed buns, she wiped the corners of her mouth, clapped her hands together, and confidently walked up to the old woman. “Grandma, how much is this sheep’s milk?”
“This is spirit sheep’s milk, very nourishing,” the old woman replied with a warm smile, picking up a bottle to show the girl. “Ten gold coins for a bottle.”
