Chapter 626 - 322: Immortal Sect Steward
Chapter 626: Chapter 322: Immortal Sect Steward
The old man frowned at the others’ words, lost in thought. He mulled over every possibility, trying to figure out Black Skull’s true motive.
After a long moment, a glint flashed in his eyes. "Could it be the Spirit Revival Pill?" he asked in surprise.
Everyone looked at him quizzically, eagerly awaiting an explanation. But the old man had no intention of explaining. Instead, he turned his gaze to the dozen or so corpses on the ground.
With a wave of his right hand, a Cyan Jade Porcelain Bottle appeared, hovering before him. The old man made a grasping motion with his right hand toward the corpses. Immediately, as if drawn by an invisible force, the black Evil Qi on all the bodies rapidly lifted from the necks and flew toward the mouth of the Jade Bottle.
As the black Evil Qi vanished from the corpses, blood finally began to flow from the wounds on the headless bodies. Then, the crowd heard the old man speak.
"Dispose of the bodies. Don’t stop the search, or he might notice something is amiss."
Hearing this, they all understood that Elder Zhang was going to handle this himself. Cupping their fists in unison, they chorused, "Yes!"
After the old man left, one of the men, not daring to delay, immediately dispatched someone to the Corpse Collection Manor to have the bodies collected and cremated. After all, no one could be sure if there were any latent issues with the corpses; returning them to their homes was out of the question.
About the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the head of the Corpse Collection Manor hurried over with Zhao Lide, the man in charge of the burial department.
When he heard the bodies were to be cremated, his heart skipped a beat, and he rejoiced inwardly. ’Sixteen bodies, worth two hundred Spirit Stones! Even if nine of them are headless, it won’t affect their value.’
After quickly getting appraised of the situation, Zhao Lide deftly stored all the bodies in his Storage Pouch.
Meanwhile, as the Sect personnel dealt with the bodies, in a courtyard in the North District...
A young man meditating and performing his Cultivation in the courtyard suddenly snapped his eyes open. They filled with shock as he stared at the person who had appeared before him as silently and abruptly as a ghost. He instinctively shot backward.
’How is this possible!’ The young man was horrified.
’He had activated a Tier Two Defense Array in this house! Other than my master, who could transform into Black Death to permeate it, even a Golden Core Cultivator would have to use their full power to break through. It’s impossible for someone to just walk in and out as if it were nothing.’
’How on earth did this person get in?’
The next moment, however, he saw that the old man was holding a triangular golden Token. A Jade Bottle, emitting wisps of black Evil Qi, floated before him as well.
"A Spatial Treasure... and an Array Entry Order!"
The young man recognized the Token at a glance. His pupils constricted as he looked at the old man and stammered, "You’re... an Immortal Sect Steward!"
"You’ve got sharp eyes, kid." The old man looked at the youth and, with a slight raise of his right hand, made the Jade Bottle and Token vanish.
’I didn’t expect that guy to be hiding here. He really is concocting the Spirit Revival Pill.’ The old man’s powerful Divine Sense instantly washed over the entire courtyard like a tide, taking in everything.
The young man understood that he couldn’t even think about making a move. There was no other reason than the sheer disparity in their power.
’The Immortal Sect Steward presiding over the County Town has to be at least at the Golden Core Early Stage of Cultivation, while I’m just a mere Qi Cultivation Stage Cultivator. When he first appeared, if he’d wanted to kill me, I would have had no chance to react or retreat.’
"Let’s just wait for him to finish. The Spirit Revival Pill, said to restore a Cultivator’s Dantian... I’d like to see it for myself."
With that, the old man walked into the inner room as if he owned the place and casually sat down.
Hearing this, the young man, though filled with helplessness and worry, could only brace himself, offer a respectful bow, and turn to prepare some tea.
As he walked, he began to plot. ’How am I going to handle this sudden turn of events? But... judging by his tone, he seems to know my master.’ A sliver of hope rose in his heart.
Soon, the young man returned, carefully carrying a cup of the Spirit Tea his master favored, and tiptoed into the main hall. He then stood quietly by the door, not daring to even breathe too loudly.
But the old man hadn’t been just sitting there. His Divine Sense had already detected a child in another room. He had also sensed that the child had no Spiritual Power and that his Dantian was shattered—clearly, it had been deliberately destroyed.
The old man was curious. ’For Black Skull to go to such lengths for this child, their relationship must be anything but ordinary.’
"Who is that child?" the old man asked coolly, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
The young man paused for a moment before quickly bowing his head. "He is my master’s grandson."
"Grandson?" The old man was quite surprised, a look of doubt on his face. ’That fellow actually has descendants?’ He couldn’t help but press, "His biological grandson?"
The young man fell silent for a moment. He quickly weighed his words, considering how to answer. Finally, he just nodded. "Yes."
Seeing this, the old man asked no more questions. But he now understood Black Skull’s motivations. ’Only a biological grandson would be worth such a risk.’
’To think that the once-ruthless killer who left no trace now has such a tender side... It’s truly unexpected.’ The old man was filled with a mix of emotions. ’On the path of Cultivation Immortality, the human heart is truly unpredictable. Who would have thought that a cold-blooded killer from the past would have someone to care for like this?’
Two hours passed, and morning arrived.
The door slowly opened, and Lin Changfeng walked out, his expression calm. His gaze fell directly on the old man in the main hall.
"Mas—" The young man began, cupping his fists, but Lin Changfeng cut him off. "Leave. I know."
