Chapter 177 Good boy
Chapter 177: Chapter 177 Good boy
Daisy’s entire day disappeared into work.
The laboratory was busy from the moment she arrived and between experiments, paperwork, observations, and helping with the routine tasks around the lab, she barely had enough time to check her phone. She didn’t see Rafael anywhere and Alessio was nowhere in sight either.
Perhaps that was a good thing.
Because if she had seen Alessio wandering around while his hand was still injured, she would have scolded him without hesitation.
The man had absolutely no sense of self-preservation.
First, he had a fever.
Then, somehow, he had managed to injure his hand.
And instead of resting properly, he was still walking around hospitals, meeting people and behaving as though nothing had happened.
Daisy couldn’t understand him.
Why did he never seem to take care of himself?
She found herself thinking about his bandaged hand while she worked, remembering the way he had casually dismissed it as ’nothing’ despite the obvious scrape. She remembered how she had practically forced him to let the nurse treat it and how he had looked at her with that faintly amused expression as though her concern was somehow entertaining.
Her lips pressed together.
He was going to give her a headache.
Daisy sighed softly as she continued working.
She really needed to buy him something.
A self-care journal, perhaps.
Something with reminders like Take your medicine, Don’t ignore injuries, Eat properly and Stop pretending you’re invincible.
The thought made her smile despite herself.
She could already imagine him looking at the journal with his completely expressionless face.
Do you think I’m a child?
And she would probably point at his bandaged hand.
Yes.
Daisy almost laughed at the thought.
It was strange.
She had only known Alessio for a relatively short time, yet somehow, he had started occupying an unreasonable amount of space in her thoughts.
She thought about whether he had eaten.
Whether his hand was hurting.
Whether he had actually gone home and rested.
Whether his fever had completely disappeared.
Whether he was taking care of himself.
She became so lost in those thoughts that she didn’t even realize how much time had passed.
And strangely enough, she didn’t think about Cedric at all.
Not once.
By the time her work finally ended, Daisy gathered her things and headed back toward the hospital.
Cedric was supposed to be discharged tomorrow, so she decided to stay with him for a while tonight.
When she entered his wardroom, she found him sitting quietly on the bed.
He looked much better than he had the previous day but he looked unusually silent and sleepy.
Daisy approached him and sat in the chair beside the bed.
Cedric glanced at her and said lazily, "You’re back."
Daisy nodded.
She noticed the medicine beside him and immediately understood why he seemed so drowsy. The doctor had given him pain medication, and it was clearly beginning to take effect. His eyelids looked heavy and his movements were slower than usual.
You can sleep if you’re tired, Daisy gestured gently.
Cedric watched her hands for a moment before giving a small nod.
"I know."
His voice was quieter than usual.
Daisy adjusted the blanket around him and made sure the water was within his reach.
Then she sat back down.
The room was peaceful.
Jessica hadn’t come to visit again.
Cedric didn’t seem bothered by her absence. He simply leaned back against the pillow, his eyes slowly closing as the medication pulled him toward sleep.
Daisy quietly watched him for a moment.
Then, without meaning to, her thoughts wandered somewhere else again.
A certain pair of green eyes.
A bandaged hand.
And a particularly irritating man who apparently needed a self-care journal before he managed to injure himself again.

Cedric had finally fallen asleep, his breathing becoming slow and even as the pain medication gradually pulled him into a deeper rest. His face was relaxed, the tension that usually marked his features softened by exhaustion and the effects of the drugs.
But with nothing else requiring her attention, she finally picked up her phone. The screen lit up and almost as soon as she unlocked it, a message appeared.
Alessio.
She opened it.
Alessio: I rested for the whole day.
Daisy blinked at the message. She read it once, then again, a small smile tugging at her lips. So he actually listened to her. She had been half-convinced he would ignore her advice and push through the day like he always did.
She quickly typed back.
Daisy: Good boy.
The reply came surprisingly fast.
Alessio: Good boy? Nah, baby. I’m a man.
Daisy froze.
Her eyes widened and her fingers hovered over the screen. She stared at the message for several seconds as the meaning registered. Her breath caught slightly.
Baby.
He had called her baby.
Meanwhile, somewhere else, Alessio was staring at his own message in absolute disbelief. His green eyes were fixed on the screen, his expression a mixture of shock and horror. He had actually sent that.
He slowly closed his eyes.
"...What the hell?"
He looked at the screen again, hoping perhaps the message would magically disappear. It didn’t. Worse, the little notification beneath it confirmed that Daisy had already seen it. The little ’Read’ status glared back at him like a personal insult.
Too late to delete.
Alessio leaned back and rubbed his forehead. Excellent. Absolutely excellent.
This was Rafael’s fault. Ever since Rafael had insisted on making him watch those ridiculous romantic movies, Alessio had been exposed to far too many absurd lines. Apparently, his brain had decided to betray him at the worst possible moment.
He stared at the conversation.
Good boy? Nah, baby. I’m a man.
He wanted to throw his phone across the room. What kind of sentence was that? He was Alessio Ricci. He didn’t flirt like this. He didn’t call women baby. He certainly didn’t send messages that made him want to disappear afterward.
Oh dmmm!! shoot my feet!!
Meanwhile, Daisy was still staring at her phone. Her cheeks had slowly turned pink, the color spreading across her face like a soft blush.
