Chapter 150: Chapter 150 Did she go out with him again?
After dinner, Daisy stood up from her chair. She smiled warmly at everyone before making a small gesture.
I should leave now.
Alessio looked at her almost immediately. His green eyes lifted from his plate and without any hesitation, he spoke.
"I’ll drop you home."
Daisy quickly shook her head. Her expression became concerned. She pointed at him, then lightly touched her own forehead, reminding him about his fever.
No. You’re sick. You should rest.
Alessio looked as though he wanted to argue. His jaw tightened slightly, and he leaned forward as if to protest.
"My fever isn’t that serious."
Daisy frowned and folded her arms. Then she gestured again.
The doctor told you to rest. You promised.
Seeing her stubborn expression, Alessio could only sigh quietly. He looked at her for a moment, then shook his head.
"...You’re using my own promise against me."
Daisy smiled innocently and nodded.
Yes.
Rafael couldn’t help laughing.
"Daisy wins."
Alessio glanced at him expressionlessly. Without another word, he looked back at Rafael.
"You drop her home."
Rafael nodded immediately.
"Leave it to me."
This time, Daisy didn’t refuse. She smiled gratefully and nodded.
A few minutes later, Rafael drove her back. The evening roads were unusually peaceful, the soft glow of streetlights stretching across the windshield like a warm blanket.
For a while, neither of them spoke. The silence wasn’t awkward. It was comfortable.
Finally, Rafael smiled as he kept his eyes on the road.
"...Thank you."
Daisy looked at him curiously.
"You came all the way to our house because of my brother. I know it was sudden and I know you were probably busy." His smile became more genuine. "But... thank you."
Daisy smiled softly. She shook her head before raising her hands.
It’s okay. You’re my friend too.
Rafael glanced at her gestures before smiling even wider.
"...Friend, huh?" He chuckled quietly. "I like that."
Then, in a lighter tone, he added, "Just don’t tell Mateo. He’ll get jealous because he thinks he makes friends with everyone first."
Daisy covered her mouth as she laughed silently. Her eyes sparkled with amusement.
The rest of the drive passed in a relaxed atmosphere. The conversation was light, filled with small jokes and comfortable silences.
Soon, Rafael stopped the car a short distance from Cedric’s mansion.
"I’ll stop here. I don’t want anyone inside your house asking unnecessary questions."
Daisy understood immediately. She nodded appreciatively.
Before getting out, she turned toward him and smiled. Then she made one last gesture.
Drive safely.
Rafael smiled. "You too..." He paused before laughing at his own mistake. "...Well, walk safely."
Daisy’s eyes curved into crescents as she silently laughed again. She waved goodbye before getting out of the car.
Rafael waited until she safely entered the mansion gates before driving away.
Meanwhile, Daisy quietly walked inside the mansion. The house was silent, the corridors empty. She climbed the stairs without making a sound and went straight to her bedroom.
After changing into comfortable clothes, she sat on the edge of her bed for a while. Her mind drifted back to the evening.
Without realizing it, a small smile appeared on her face.
Today’s dinner had felt strangely warm. It was noisy. Everyone kept teasing one another. Mateo made everyone laugh. Rafael treated her like a younger sister and Alessio, even while having a fever, had kept asking whether she had eaten enough.
It had been a long time since she had experienced such a lively dinner.
A knock suddenly came at her door. She opened it.
The maid stood outside with a gentle smile.
"Ma’am. Dinner is ready."
Daisy smiled apologetically and gently shook her head. She gestured,
I’ve already eaten.
The maid looked slightly surprised but nodded politely.
"Very well, ma’am. I’ll let the kitchen know."
After the maid left, Daisy quietly closed the door again. She leaned against it for a moment, still smiling.
Downstairs, Cedric finally returned home.
He loosened his tie as he walked into the dining room after another long day. His shoulders were tense, his jaw tight, and the usual cold expression on his face seemed even more pronounced than usual.
The servants immediately greeted him, bowing respectfully as he passed. A maid stepped forward to pull out his chair and another began serving his dinner, placing the dishes carefully on the table.
Cedric sat down heavily, the leather of the chair creaking beneath his weight. He picked up his fork, his eyes scanning the table.
It felt unusually quiet.
His eyes instinctively searched for one person.
"...Where’s Daisy?"
The maid lowered her head respectfully. "Ma’am isn’t joining dinner tonight, sir."
Cedric paused. His fingers stopped around his fork. "...Why?"
"Ma’am said she had already eaten."
His brows slowly furrowed. "Already eaten?"
"Yes, sir." The maid nodded. "She came home a little while ago and went straight to her room. When I informed her that dinner was ready, she politely refused and said she had already had dinner outside."
Cedric’s hand tightened around the fork, his knuckles whitening. "...Outside?"
"Yes, sir." The maid answered honestly.
"I see." He dismissed her with a slight nod.
The dining room fell silent again. The soft clink of cutlery against porcelain was the only sound as Cedric lowered his eyes to the food in front of him but for some reason, he had lost his appetite. The food looked perfectly prepared but his stomach felt tight.
She came home late. And she already ate?
His mind immediately recalled the restaurant scene. Daisy, standing beside Alessio. Smiling at him. Having dinner with him. His jaw clenched unconsciously.
Did she go out with him again?
The thought irritated him far more than it should have. He frowned, his eyes narrowing at the empty space across from him.
Where did she go? Who did she have dinner with? Was it Alessio?
The questions kept repeating in his mind, circling like vultures. He couldn’t understand why they bothered him so much. He had dinner with Jessica all the time. He had never felt guilty about it. He had never questioned where Jessica had been or who she had eaten with.
Then why did Daisy eating with another man make him so uncomfortable?
He silently finished his meal without tasting any of it. The flavors were lost on him. Every now and then, his thoughts drifted upstairs. Toward Daisy’s room.
After finishing dinner, he stood up. "I’m done."
The servants immediately cleared the table, moving silently around him. Cedric walked upstairs with slow, thoughtful steps.
When he reached his bedroom, he pushed the door open.
The soft fragrance of expensive perfume greeted him first. His gaze lifted.
