Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 148 I’ll be angry

Chapter 148: Chapter 148 I’ll be angry

A few moments later, Rafael returned with the family doctor.

The elderly doctor adjusted his glasses before walking toward the sofa, his expression calm and professional.

"Now then, Mr. Ricci," he said with a smile. "Let’s see this famous patient who nearly gave everyone a headache."

Alessio remained seated, his expression calm and unreadable.

This time, he didn’t refuse. He simply extended his arm without a word.

Rafael couldn’t help grinning. He crossed his arms and leaned casually against the wall.

"So obedient."

Alessio shot him a flat look.

Rafael immediately looked away and pretended to admire the ceiling.

The doctor chuckled quietly before beginning the examination.

He checked Alessio’s temperature, pulse and blood pressure, then asked him a few routine questions. His movements were careful, his voice calm and reassuring.

"Any headache?"

Alessio’s voice was low. "A little."

"Body aches?"

"Mm."

"Since when?"

"This morning."

The doctor nodded thoughtfully before writing a few notes in his small notebook. He clicked his pen closed and looked up with a reassuring smile.

"Nothing serious. You have a mild fever. You’ve probably been overworking yourself and haven’t been resting properly. You’ll be fine after taking medicine, drinking plenty of water and getting some sleep."

Alessio gave a small nod. "I figured."

The doctor smiled helplessly. "You figured correctly this time."

As soon as the doctor finished speaking, Alessio slowly turned his head toward Rafael.

His green eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

"...For a mild fever, you called Daisy all the way here?"

His tone wasn’t angry. It was more... disapproving.

Rafael scratched the back of his neck. "Well..." He hesitated. "You weren’t listening to me. You weren’t listening to the doctor. So I needed someone you’d actually listen to."

Alessio stared at him silently.

Rafael smiled innocently. "...And it worked."

Alessio sighed. His gaze shifted toward Daisy.

"You shouldn’t have troubled yourself. You came all this way for something this small."

Daisy immediately shook her head. She smiled gently and raised both hands.

It’s okay. I don’t mind.

Then she pointed toward him before making another small gesture.

As long as you’re okay.

For a brief second, Alessio’s expression softened.

"...Thank you."

The family doctor, who had been quietly packing his medical bag, finally looked at Daisy properly. He felt shock. AlessioRicci and thanks? Is my ear ringing?

Only then did he notice that throughout the entire conversation, she hadn’t spoken a single word. She had communicated only through gestures.

His movements paused. He looked at Rafael. Then at Alessio. Finally, back at Daisy. A flicker of surprise crossed his face.

"...She’s... mute?"

Rafael nodded naturally. "Yes."

The doctor looked at Daisy with sympathy for a brief moment before smiling kindly. "I see."

Then he glanced at Alessio. A thoughtful expression crossed his face and he said nothing.

He simply picked up his bag and nodded toward Rafael. "I’ll leave the medicine with you. Make sure he takes it with food."

Rafael nodded. "Got it."

The doctor walked toward the door, pausing briefly to glance back at Daisy.

"You take care too, little girl," he said warmly.

Daisy blinked, then smiled and nodded.

The doctor left.

Rafael turned to Alessio with a grin. "See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?"

Alessio ignored him.

Instead, his attention returned to Daisy.

His expression softened almost imperceptibly.

"Would you like some coffee?" he asked. "Or water?"

He paused for a moment before adding naturally, "Or should I ask the kitchen to prepare something for you?"

Daisy blinked.

She hadn’t expected him to ask that.

She quickly smiled and shook her head.

No, thank you.

She gestured politely.

I’m leaving now.

The moment Alessio understood her meaning, a faint look of disapproval appeared in his eyes.

He leaned back slightly against the sofa and looked at her intently.

"No."

Daisy blinked.

He continued in a calm voice. "You’ve already wasted too much time because of me. If you leave without having something to eat or drink..." He paused. "...I’ll be angry."

Daisy’s eyes widened.

Angry?

She looked at him uncertainly.

Was he... serious?

Beside them, Rafael nearly choked on his own saliva.

His eyes became as round as saucers.

He slowly turned to look at his older brother as though he had just witnessed a miracle.

What...?

His brain almost stopped working.

His brother, the same Alessio Ricci who barely remembered to ask his own brothers whether they had eaten, was now politely asking Daisy whether she wanted coffee, water, or food. Not only that, he was insisting.

Rafael looked utterly betrayed.

He dramatically placed a hand over his chest.

"Bro..."

Alessio didn’t even spare him a glance.

Rafael looked genuinely heartbroken.

Daisy looked between the two brothers, confused by Rafael’s reaction. She didn’t understand what was so strange about Alessio asking her to stay for something to eat.

She hesitated for a moment, then slowly nodded.

Okay. Just a little.

Alessio’s expression relaxed.

He looked toward Rafael. "Ask the kitchen to prepare something light."

Rafael blinked, still recovering from his shock. "For her?"

"Of course."

Rafael opened his mouth, closed it, then opened it again.

"...Right. Right, yes."

He turned toward the door, already reaching for the handle.

Then he stopped. His head slowly swiveled back toward Alessio.

"I’m hungry too, bro!!!" he announced, patting his stomach like he hadn’t eaten in days. "I’ve been running around this whole mansion trying to convince you to see a doctor. I haven’t eaten anything since breakfast. My stomach is about to file a complaint."

He patted his belly dramatically.

"Look at me. I’m wasting away. Do you care? No. You only care about Daisy."

Daisy blinked in shock, her eyes widening.

Alessio didn’t even blink. "Then eat something."

Rafael gasped. "That’s it? That’s all you have to say?"

"What else do you want me to say?"

"I don’t know. Maybe, Oh, my poor brother! Let me order you a feast! Or, Rafael, you’re the real hero here! You deserve the finest meal in the land!"

Alessio stared at him for a long moment.

Then he turned to Daisy. "He’s like this all the time."

Daisy pressed her lips together, her shoulders shaking with silent laughter.

Rafael pointed at Alessio. "Excuse me? I am not like this. I am a victim of neglect. And you wonder why I have emotional issues."

"You don’t have emotional issues."

"I do now."

Daisy couldn’t hold it in anymore. She covered her mouth with both hands, her eyes crinkling with amusement.

Rafael noticed and grinned.
