Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 119 I refuse to talk to her

Chapter 119: Chapter 119 I refuse to talk to her

Alessio was there.

He wasn’t wearing one of his usual perfectly tailored suits today. Instead, he was dressed casually in a black hoodie and matching black jogger pants. The relaxed clothes somehow made him look even younger, though they couldn’t soften the naturally commanding aura surrounding him.

He was sitting comfortably on the sofa, one hand resting on his knee. His posture was relaxed, but his eyes were sharp as always.

Hearing footsteps, he slowly lifted his head. His sharp green eyes met Daisy’s.

For a brief moment, neither of them spoke.

His gaze naturally traveled over her. From the loose ponytail to the rose-red dress, then down to her white sneakers. It wasn’t an inappropriate stare. More like a quiet inspection, taking in every detail.

After a second, the corners of his eyes softened ever so slightly. A faint hint of approval appeared in his expression. He gave an almost imperceptible nod.

As though silently saying... You look nice today.

Daisy immediately understood.

Her cheeks warmed. She quickly lowered her eyes, pretending to adjust the strap of her handbag.

...Oh no. Why is he looking at me like that...?

Without meaning to, another thought quietly slipped into her mind.

Does he... like the color red? Maybe... He really likes red?

The thought made her blush even harder.

Before the silence could become awkward, Margaret noticed Daisy standing near the entrance. Her face immediately brightened.

"Oh, good morning, sweetheart."

Margaret’s warm smile was as gentle as ever. She walked over and lightly squeezed Daisy’s hand with motherly affection.

"We were just talking about you."

Daisy’s eyes curved into happy crescents. She smiled brightly before giving Margaret a small bow.

Good morning.

She greeted her with a gentle nod.

Meanwhile, Grandpa James, who had been happily drinking his morning tea, deliberately turned his head away with an exaggerated huff.

"Hmph."

He folded his arms dramatically.

"I refuse to talk to her."

Margaret blinked. Alessio raised an eyebrow. Daisy looked completely confused.

Grandpa James puffed out his cheeks like an upset child.

"She hasn’t visited me for several days. I’m angry."

He looked toward the opposite wall instead of at Daisy.

"I’m ignoring her."

Daisy’s eyes widened. A guilty expression immediately appeared on her face. She quickly clasped both hands together apologetically and hurried over to him.

Grandpa James secretly glanced at her from the corner of his eye, only to immediately turn his head away again with another loud,

"Hmph."

Making it very clear that he fully intended to continue his dramatic protest.

Daisy looked at Grandpa James with guilty eyes. She gently bit her lower lip, her fingers twisting together nervously. Then, she softly hummed.

"Mmm..."

It wasn’t a real word. Just a tiny, apologetic sound escaping from her throat, as though she were trying her very best to say something despite knowing she couldn’t.

The soft little hum immediately caught everyone’s attention.

She slowly walked closer before quietly kneeling down on the carpet beside him. The fabric of her rose-red dress pooled around her like a soft cloud.

She simply sat on the floor beside Grandpa James’s chair. Tilting her head back, she looked up at him with those beautiful, expressive dark eyes. They were clear, gentle and filled with apology.

Without saying a word, she slowly reached up and lightly held one of her ears. It was the universal gesture children made when admitting they were wrong.

I’m sorry...

Her lips curved into the tiniest, sheepish smile. She even lowered her head slightly, looking genuinely remorseful.

Grandpa James looked down at her. His heart immediately wavered. His expression visibly softened, the stern lines around his mouth relaxing.

"..."

No. He couldn’t forgive her that easily. He quickly looked away again.

"Hmph."

But his voice had already lost most of its anger. It sounded more like a grumpy old man pretending to be upset than someone who was genuinely offended.

Daisy noticed. She carefully scooted a little closer on the floor, the carpet soft beneath her knees. Then she gently tugged the sleeve of his sweater.

Just once. Very lightly.

When he refused to look at her, she gave another tiny hum.

"Mmm..."

Then she held both ears this time, blinking up at him with pleading puppy-like eyes. Her gaze was so earnest, so full of regret, that it was impossible to ignore.

Grandpa James’s lips twitched. He immediately covered his mouth with his hand before anyone noticed.

"No."

He muttered to himself. "I have to stay angry."

Daisy tilted her head, her ponytail swaying with the movement.

Seeing that he was still pretending to ignore her, she slowly rested her chin on the edge of his knee and continued looking up at him with those impossibly innocent eyes. Her expression was so soft, so apologetic that it melted every ounce of resistance he had left.

Grandpa James finally looked down.

The moment their eyes met, his resolve completely broke. He dramatically pointed a finger at her.

"No! She’s using her superpower on me!"

He looked toward Margaret and Alessio with complete seriousness.

"Look at her! She’s cheating! Those eyes should be illegal! I was supposed to stay angry for at least another ten minutes!"

Margaret covered her mouth, laughing softly. "I told you," she said with an amused smile. "You’d forgive her in less than a minute."

"I did not!" Grandpa James protested immediately. "I’m still angry."

He looked down at Daisy. She blinked once. Then smiled shyly without showing her teeth, still holding both ears.

Grandpa James let out an exaggerated groan.

"Oh, goodness... I surrender."

He gently patted her head with obvious affection.

"You win."

The moment his hand rested on her hair, Daisy’s face lit up with a radiant smile that instantly brightened the entire room. Her eyes crinkled at the corners, and she leaned slightly into his touch like a cat seeking warmth.

Even Alessio, who had been silently watching everything unfold from the sofa, found the corners of his own lips lifting into the faintest smile.

He imagined when he became angry, Daisy doing the same with him. Placing her soft cheek on his thighs, looking up at him with those big, pleading eyes. His heart suddenly felt hot, a strange warmth spreading through his chest.

He quickly looked away, clearing his throat quietly.
