Chapter 66- Proven Wrong
Lucien Volkov:
After I screamed at Amy, she didn’t stay there.
"You’re favoring that slave," She spat, tears burning her eyes, "But mark my words, Lucien. One day she’ll leave you," She poked her trembling finger into my chest, "And when that day comes..." She laughed bitterly, "Don’t come crying to us."
I stood there silently, watching her walk away.
One day she’ll leave you.
Why would Arabella leave me? Especially when she had nowhere to go. Her old pack would never accept her.
A strange unease settled in my chest.
"Lucien!" Zorro suddenly lifted his head, "Something feels wrong."
I rubbed the back of my neck and decided to go to Arabella. I wanted to make sure that she was still there.
I needed to go to her. She might need her space, but not right now.

I pushed open the door to my chamber and found Arabella seated at my study table, busy with something. She didn’t even notice me.
A small frown was settled on her face, and she looked cute. As I walked closer, she seemed to sense my presence. Her head snapped up.
For the briefest moment, something flashed across her face. Was it panic, or was I imagining it?
She quickly folded a bright red sticky note and slid it beneath a book.
"What is it? Hiding something, Princess?" My sharp ears caught her speeding heartbeat as she tried to force a smile.
"Umm. This? I’m sorry," She picked the chit up and held it to me, "It’s a little embarrassing for me, so I thought to hide it."
I took it from her. There was a string of numbers written there, "What is this?"
This time she placed her hand on her mouth and giggled, "Nothing. I was doing some math," She reached for it," I never told you, Your Highness. But I love solving multiplication problems whenever I’m bored..." I tried to say something, but she started shaking her head, "I know it sounds weird. But that’s how I learned how to multiply in my mind."
I remember how she had solved those multiplication sums. Even Bradley seemed impressed.
I didn’t know what got into me. I held her jaw and looked into her hazel eyes, taking her by surprise, "And here I was hoping you were writing me a love letter," I leaned ahead and sniffed the scent that always made me crazy.
Her closeness always made my dick so hard that it hurt, "It’s becoming a problem, sweetheart. You’re making it very difficult for me to remain a gentleman."
Her face turned pink as she stared at me with wide hazel eyes while my thumb absentmindedly brushed over her lips.
She tried to speak, but no words came out. I smiled cockily as I leaned closer, "See?" I murmured, "Now you’ve forgotten how to talk."
She didn’t pull away. Her breathing grew uneven, and I could feel the warmth radiating from her body. Day by day, it was getting difficult to ignore this mate bond.
"I so want to kiss you," I whispered against her mouth. She seemed to swallow hard before whispering back, "Then who is stopping you, My King?"
That was all the permission I needed. I closed the remaining distance as my mouth crashed against hers.
The world around us faded as her arms came around me, pressing her soft body against mine. My one hand moved to the back of her neck while the other trailed to her ass, pulling her closer, letting her feel my hard cock.
She seemed to go stiff at first. My mouth kept opening over hers to taste her, to fuck her mouth. I smiled against her lips when she moaned.
My mouth moved to her jaw as I showered small kisses down to her neck, near her collarbone. She threw back her head and bit her lower lip.
My hand got to her boob and kneaded it. Goddess! She was beautiful, and all I wanted to do was free her body from this dress and fuck her right then and there.
"Ah! My King!"
For some reason, I felt more aroused when she called me that. My King.
"Call my name," I whispered as I licked her cheek, "Call me Lucien, Buttercup."
The endearment came out of nowhere, and she went still. This was unexpected. It looked like someone threw ice water over her face.
For a split second, I thought she was going to melt into my arms; instead, the warmth seemed to vanish from her eyes.
She pulled away so abruptly that my hand fell to my side.
"I ... I need to go," Her gaze remained fixed on the floor, "Please..."
I looked at her in confusion as Zorro growled in pain. He wanted her near him, "Arabella."
She took another step back, "I ... I should leave."
Just a moment ago, she had been responding to my advances, rather enjoying them, and now she looked as though she regretted every second of it.
"D... did I do something wrong?" I asked her, trying to reach for her. I wish I could pull her into my arms and beg her to just let me snuggle with her in bed.
"No... Your Highness... I just need time..."
She stepped back and then quickly dashed to the door. I saw her walking away but couldn’t even stop her.
There was so much pain on her face. Was it because my mother slapped her? Or was she remembering everything I put her through?
"Why don’t you say sorry?" Zorro asked me in a low whisper, "She must be in pain. You hurt her. She knows nothing about the bond."
"We can’t," I rubbed my face and exhaled, "You do know we can’t. She’s weak... under an unknown spell. This will be too much for her. Let Lilith treat her first."
"Then what?" Zorro growled, "What if it’s too late by then? What if she decides to walk away before that?"
I smiled to myself. "Walk away? Why would she walk away when she had the Lycan King’s mark? That mark would never let her hide. No matter where she ran. I’d always find her."
Zorro didn’t answer.
Neither of us realized how badly we were about to be proven wrong.
