Chapter 517: Chapter 516: Society’s Leniency Toward Men

Inside the café outside the cinema.

Nathan Foster sat alone in a corner of the café, while South Grant and Caleb Holt sat at another table.

South must have said something to Caleb, as his expression had changed from dazed to surprised.

South genuinely appreciated Nathan’s restraint this time, not domineeringly forbidding her from interacting with Caleb.

Instead, he respected her wishes, allowing her to talk to Caleb alone.

Realizing that the secret couldn’t be hidden any longer, South decided not to conceal it anymore, knowing that Caleb, having just been at a disadvantage, was still thinking about seeking justice on her behalf, and would surely not betray her.

South told Caleb frankly, "Since I was young, my father raised me as a boy. Although I don’t know the reason, I’ve grown accustomed to it. Everyone in the Grant Family believes I’m a boy; very few know this secret. I’m telling you now, hoping you’ll keep it confidential."

Caleb stared blankly, and when he met South’s gaze, he nodded, albeit woodenly.

"I didn’t intentionally hide it from you guys; when the time is right, I will tell everyone that I’m actually a woman. But now isn’t the time. You don’t understand the situation in our family; you only see Stellaris targeting me now, but there’s a reason behind all of this. They not only don’t want me to inherit the Grant Family but want to completely drive us three siblings out because, as long as we’re here, any inheritance by others would be illegitimate. Grant Group wasn’t originally the Grant name but Yán, founded by my grandmother’s father. Later, Jared Grant took it over, so no matter what, I must vie for it."

Caleb didn’t understand the grudges within wealthy families, but he understood South’s point.

South was being forced by the Grant Family.

"No matter what, I believe in you and support you."

This is what Caleb said to South after listening to her.

South was very touched.

"Caleb, thank you for your unconditional trust and support for me."

Caleb then lifted his head to meet South’s eyes, feeling as though they brimmed with warmth.

Caleb felt that no matter how much ice and snow were in his heart, they could be melted by those eyes.

"If it hadn’t been for your unconditional trust and help, I wouldn’t be who I am today."

Seeing Caleb’s emotional expression, South knew he was grateful and smiled, then said:

"We don’t need to compliment each other; resolving the misunderstanding is enough. Although today was a bit of a mix-up, seeing you stand up for me truly makes me happy."

Caleb listened to South’s words, lowered his head, and remained silent for a while.

Seeing him not speak, South curiously asked:

"Caleb, did I say something wrong?"

Caleb shook his head, then looked at South and asked, "South..."

Perhaps now, considering her identity, the previous name seemed inappropriate, causing him some difficulty.

South smiled and said, "That name was just a joke; calling me South is fine."

"South, you and him... you two can’t be together; aren’t you afraid of the world’s judgment? This world is forgiving to men but not to women."

Listening to Caleb’s words, South couldn’t help but be shocked by the mention of forgiving.
