Chapter 498: Chapter 497: What Old Story?

"Let’s take a walk on the field. I know there’s another exit."

Chester Lynch said as he picked up his jacket, looking ready to go out.

South Grant was in pajamas and wasn’t wearing a bra. Seeing Chester Lynch about to leave, she softly said:

"I’ll go change clothes first."

"No need, we’re just going for a quick walk and coming back. Comfort is key."

After Chester Lynch said this, while South Grant was still hesitating, he reached out, pulled her along, grabbed her jacket from the coat rack, and headed out.

Once outside, South Grant pulled her hand back from Chester Lynch’s grasp and put on her jacket.

Chester Lynch smiled but didn’t say anything.

It was only when they arrived that Chester Lynch realized the other exit he mentioned was a window in the second-floor corridor.

A rope hung there, suggesting many people had used it to get down.

Chester Lynch grabbed the rope and jumped down first, followed closely by South Grant.

As they walked towards the field, South Grant asked him:

"How did you know there’s a rope there?"

"I saw someone jump down from there last time," Chester Lynch replied.

Chester Lynch took her to the training field.

Ardenne University is currently expanding its campus, and a section next to the field is cordoned off.

As Chester Lynch and South Grant strolled across the field, noticing Chester Lynch’s worried expression, South Grant couldn’t help but ask him:

"How’s the situation with your family business? Is your uncle still disregarding you?"

"No, it’s gotten much better."

South Grant recalled Nathan Foster telling her that The Lynch Family was one of the four families safeguarding the treasure. Curious, she asked:

"I remember your grandfather and my grandfather were comrades, holding positions in the military district. Why did your family choose to leave the military and go into business later?"

Chester Lynch walked with his head down and spoke in a low, powerful voice:

"My uncle wanted to do business back then, and my grandfather couldn’t stop him. He took advantage of the favorable market conditions in those years to start the business. Later, when my uncle went abroad, the company was handed over to my father. A few years ago, when my father went abroad to find my uncle, he had an accident. Although he’s back now, his health is poor, and he cannot manage the company."

So, the responsibility of The Lynch Family fell on Chester Lynch’s shoulders.

Listening to Chester Lynch talk about his uncle, South Grant thought of how he was the man her mother was supposed to marry.

"Tell me about your uncle," South Grant said.

"I don’t know much about my uncle; I’ve never seen him since I was young, and he hasn’t returned."

South Grant felt The Lynch Family’s situation seemed complicated and couldn’t discern what really happened back then.

According to Nathan Foster, her mother and Chester Lynch’s uncle were once in love, but Harold Foster forced them apart. Her mother returned while pregnant, only to lose the baby, and marrying Chester Lynch’s uncle was no longer possible.

What happened at the wedding remains a mystery, resulting in no one mentioning it again.

Now, with Chester Lynch being part of The Lynch Family, South Grant thought he might know something, so she asked:

"Chester, do you know anything about the past?"

"What past events?" Chester Lynch asked with curiosity.

"You know my mother, Stella Foster, right?"

Chester Lynch nodded, and South Grant found a place to sit down.

"I’ve heard from the old butler of The Foster Family about this. He said my mother once had a wedding with your uncle, but then there was an accident during the wedding. Do you know what happened?"
