Let's Play A Dirty Ass Game, Mr. CEO

Chapter 39: VULNERABLE EYES

Chapter 39: VULNERABLE EYES

LAURA

I ran my tongue over my bottom lips as I contemplated what to do with Tristan Pierce and these messy butterflies that were all over the place.

I wondered what to do with the ache between my legs. I wondered how to get my pussy to stop clenching...doing that around something else instead would be a better idea...

He just said we could do anything we wanted. Would it be acceptable if I climbed his annoyingly captivating face and rode his mouth until all the pent-up desire came crashing down in a terrific orgasm?

I mean...that’s kinda like the only thing on my mind now.

He leaned back in the seat and watched me carefully, like a predator that knew what was the kind of its prey. "So, what do you want to do?"

Look at him, edging me on. I should be the predator here. I stopped being prey a long time ago.

I shot him a knowing smile, my body sizzling with heat as he matched it with a dashing smile of his own.

Slowly, I dragged my heel down his leg and closed the distance between us. Swaying my hips harder than I usually would, the desire pushing me to the bright and stunning light of confidence.

I paused just inside his spread legs, and leaned down seductively. "Just so you know, I can do anything I want, Mr. Pierce. Remember, I’m a boss now."

Those hot blue eyes raked down my body with a naked hunger that burned under my skin. "I know that, miss."

Miss. The innocent-but-not-so pet name made my pussy clench harder.

What the fuck? Did he think we’re roleplaying?

Just then, my phone rang shrilly in my purse, with an urgency that made me jump away from Tristan.

I cleared my throat as I moved away from him. "Excuse me." I pick up my phone and one look at the screen, my heart skips.

Eli’s nanny knew to never call when I was at work. She only texted and I shot her back if it was urgent.

But she’d called. What other reason would it be aside from my son?

"Excuse me, I have to take this," I said again, moving further down to the floor-to-ceiling window, my wanton desires forgotten in the twinkle of an eye.

The call connected and Ivy’s voice came in strained. "Ms. Hayes, I think you need to come home."

My heart missed another beat. "Ivy, what’s happened?" In the background of the call, I could hear some commotion. Something I couldn’t quite make out because of its distance. "What’s going on?"

Ivy gasped a moment before she responded. "There’s...there’s a woman here. S-She’s making a scene."

My blood ran cold. Because even as I asked the question, I knew who it was. "What woman?"

I heard her communicate briefly with someone in the background. Then she gave me the response I half-expected and dreaded.

"A Sweeney. Sweeney Hayes."

My shoulders slumped forward and a sigh of exhaustion escaped me. The name jarred me like a thousand jack knives in my chest.

God, no. Not that woman in my house, where my son was at.

I had to leave.

"Everything okay?"

I whirled and breezed past Tristan without saying a word about it to him. My family concerns were not his to bear. They were mine.

"Leaving just like that?" he called after me, insistent.

I hurried away without looking back. When I got in the elevator, I collapsed against the wall and tried to keep from trembling.

My son would be safe until I got there. Ivy wouldn’t let her in. God, her appearance meant another fact I wasn’t ready to consider yet.

We would have to move.

She found me, and that was not the plan. Now, she might know it wasn’t just me anymore. Now, there’s an us. And I wouldn’t let her ruin that.

I practically ran out of the elevator as it dinged in the parking lot. Then I got in my car and fumbled with my keys for another two minutes.

Frustrated, I yelled and slammed my hands against the wheel. Then I tried again. This time, it was the right key.

But the engine refused to ignite. Every time I turned the key, it stuttered and sputtered for a few seconds before dying out.

"Fuck me!" I cried, slapping my hands against the wheel. Why did my fucking expensive car have to let me down when I needed it most?

My head dropped to the wheel in exhaustion and I stayed that way for a moment, heaving, wondering what next to do.

Then a rap came on my door, distracting me from my thoughts. I looked up to see Tristan’s blue eyes peering down at me with curiosity.

He moved his fingers, signaling me to roll the window. As soon as I did, he leaned down and observed me closely.

"Anything you need me to do for you, Ms. Hayes?"

Warmth trickled into my chest, and suddenly, I felt lighter and hopeful. Tears of relief stung by eyes but I blinked them back. This was not the time. Definitely not a time to worry about anything other than my child. I’ll take the chances with my worst enemy if it means quickly getting to Eli.

So my answer was simple.

"Yes. Please take me to my apartment."

His eyes lit up with surprise for only a nanosecond. Then he straightened with the poise of a man who was in control. "Follow me."

°°°

The car ride to my apartment was not uncomfortable as it would have been at any other time.

Tristan was focused on getting me to my place—according to my directions—as quickly as possible.

Myself? I kept thinking about my son, slipping into my bad habit of chewing my fingernails.

I felt Tristan’s gaze on my face at some point. "Is this about your son?"

I glanced at him, instantly alert. "Why do you ask?"

He shrugged. "I don’t mean to pry." Blue eyes slithered to my face for half a second. "But chewing those fingernails won’t get us there faster than a wheel would."

I heaved a sigh and glanced out the window. "I need to see my son. I need to know that he’s okay. That’s all."

Tristan was silent for a moment. When he spoke, it was the most reassuring words I’d ever heard from him. "He’s got a strong mother. He’ll be fine."

Those words warmed my heart and sustained me until we arrived at my apartment. As soon as Tristan parked the vehicle, I bolted out.

"Thank you!"

I didn’t wait to hear anything else he had to say. I ran up past the gates and that’s when I saw Sweeney Hayes in a squabble with Ivy, trying to force her way into my house.

This shouldn’t even be a scenario in the first place.

But with my mother, it always was a scene.

"What do you think you’re doing?"
