Chapter 10: LET’S PRETEND AND FUCK
Chapter 10: LET’S PRETEND AND FUCK
TRISTAN
I’ve tried to reach her for two weeks. But I kept hitting a wall.
I started with emails. Work emails. Private emails. I never got a response. I called the Phoenix fashion house repeatedly.
At first, the excuses poured in.
’Miss Hayes just stepped out for a meeting.’
’She’s seeing a client.’
’She just left the office.’
Then they stopped coming at all.
Even the business meetings were declined and skipped without solid reasons.
All these were pointers which I ignored because they were nothing compared to how I hurt her.
Then I got my hands on her private cell and thought maybe...just maybe...she’d take my call. I called day and night. I left text messages. All to no avail.
Eventually, I got blocked.
I hadn’t slept or eaten properly these past two weeks. Madison had gotten on my nerves so much I contemplated throwing her out of my apartment. Usually, I never even cared about her tantrums and bitchy attitude.
The power of Laura fucking Hayes. She made me lose my mind over little things that shouldn’t matter.
Laura had made it so clear that she wanted nothing to do with me. Yet, I was far from giving up.
When I could not endure the pain and heartache of being ignored, of not being able to reach her, to touch her, to hold her, I turned to Madison and fucked her blind.
Just as I was doing tonight.
"Come here," I growled, pulling her close as she tried to scramble away from my hard thrusts. I unleashed my anger and frustration on Madison’s pussy. Fucking her did little to nothing in the department of dopamine, but ever since Laura showed up again, all I had to do was think of her face and that perfect body while I was buried deep inside Madison.
"God, Tristan!" Madison cried, her eyes rolling back in her head. "I’m close!"
I wrapped my hands around her throat and pounded hard, sweat pouring down my face and hitting her chest as it bounced beneath me.
"Fuckkk! Yes, oh God! Yes!"
In a moment, it was over. I felt the warmth of my seed as it spilled into the condom wrapped around my cock. Then I let go of her neck and rolled away.
"God, that was good," she crooned after me as I waded towards the bathroom to clean up. "Did you miss me that much?!"
You wish. It irked me how Madison liked to pretend that there could be anything between us but a business relationship. Even our forthcoming marriage was purely transactional.
But even a blind man could see she wanted more.
I had been willing to comply and give her what she wanted. But that was before Laura showed up again and messed with my head and heart.
I discarded the condom and went under the shower. Then I caught Madison’s reflection in the glass.
She stood there naked, eyeing my body with fresh hunger. "Do we always have to use a condom? We’re getting married soon, anyway."
My jaw locked tight. My chest flared hot. "Don’t forget why we’re doing this, Madison. We shouldn’t even be fucking."
"Whatever. We can’t help but want each other. Why make things difficult?"
If only she knew...or was she just pretending to not know? That I was shaken up by another woman?
Madison was a looker, sure. With those gorgeous tits and the hourglass figure. And the symmetrical face. But she was nothing like Laura. She didn’t make my cock stand stiff just by thinking about her. She was not on my mind twenty-four-fucking-hours-seven.
She joined me in the shower, wrapping her arms around my torso. "Tristan, let’s—"
I shrugged her off and grabbed a towel. "Let’s not pretend, Madison. And this should be the last time we speak of this."
I left the shower and paused at the doorway. "If you’re not done in ten minutes, I’ll head to the gala alone."
°°°
The twenty-fourth NYC charity gala was being held in the grandest hotel in the city. Beaumont.
It was a big event that attracted business men, designers, from all over the world.
As one of the top sponsors, my presence was tantamount. But that was not the reason I was here. I hardly cared about public appearances, especially ones like this.
The foremost reason why I was here tonight was her.
Harlan had given me the inside tip that Laura Hayes would be showcasing and handing out some of her pieces at the gala, and having been aired for two weeks, this was the perfect place and opportunity to see her again.
Perched on my arm, Madison glowed like a peacock. As we moved through the throng of guests, gliding across marble floors under glittering lights, she grabbed two glasses of champagne and handed one to me.
I took it reluctantly, my eyes darting around the place.
"Are you okay?" she purred in my ear. "You seem tense."
"Drink the champagne, Madison." And shut up. I was trying to think of the next move to make if Laura did not show up here.
As we took the table reserved for us with a name plate that read, ’Tristan Pierce’ in gold letters, a voice boomed from the stage.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it’s my pleasure tonight to welcome you to the 24th NYC charity gala. I’m your host, Donovan Smith."
Loud applause rented the air, and the host fixed his polished suit as he waited for it to die down.
"Tonight, we’ll begin by recognizing the very people who have made this gathering possible. Without them, we wouldn’t be here, celebrating art and life!"
My eyes roamed the entirety of the hall as he began to read out names of the event’s sponsors.
There was still no sign of her.
Madison leaned into me and the thick scent of her perfume almost choked the breath out of me. "Looking for someone?"
I shrugged her off slightly and shot her a stare. "Behave, Madison. Are you drunk already?"
"Oh don’t do that," she murmured. "I’m fine." She tossed the rest of the drink down her throat and grabbed another, alongside a canape.
"We would also like to thank the CEO of Pierce Holdings, Tristan Pierce, for his evergreen contribution to the betterment of the society. Please let’s acknowledge him with a round of applause."
Reluctantly, I got to my feet and plastered a smile on my face.
"Thank you, thank you," I murmured, still glancing around.
And that’s when I saw her. Laura Hayes, seated with Harlan Voss several tables away, phenomenal and absolutely breathtaking.
My God.
Our eyes met, and for a few electric moments, it was just us two in the hall.
