Chapter 749 - Aego! Move out!
“We need a name,” Broken said, turning toward Ronan and Mizuki.
“A name?” Ronan raised an eyebrow. “For what, King?”
“A name for the ship. This is going to be our main vessel at sea, so I’m giving you both the chance to name it,” Broken replied.
Ronan glanced at Mizuki. “Got any ideas, Mizuki?”
Mizuki shook her head and looked back at Broken. “King, I think you should name the golem yourself. We want to call it something that comes from you—something meaningful for the creation you’ve worked so hard for.”
Ronan nodded in agreement with Mizuki’s words.
Broken smiled at their response, though inwardly, he had hoped they would pick the name because, frankly, he was stumped. He tended to go for simple names—something easy to pronounce, often a play on the original name of the golem, like calling Zephyris Sentinel “Zepy.”
Now here he was, stuck with Aegis Voyager as a starting point. What kind of name would be fitting yet simple enough?
Damn it, he thought. Why do I even have to name it? Can’t the system just auto-generate one?
“Aego?” he muttered under his breath.
“That’s adorable, King,” Mizuki said, her face lighting up.
“Really?” he asked, a little surprised.
Mizuki nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, it’s perfect. It’s short, catchy, and cute!”
“Alright then,” Broken said, a small grin tugging at his lips. “Aego it is!”
[Name: Aego – Aegis Voyager]
[Grade: Legendary]
[Tier: 4]
[Level: 250]
[Skills – 4]
Broken smiled softly as he saw the golem’s tier displayed: Tier 4.
He couldn’t help but chuckle. Tier 4 was the high expectation he had been aiming for, his most ambitious hope. This meant the golem possessed self-repairing abilities—able to use its own core to reinforce and even regenerate its structure.
Of course, major damage would still require manual repairs, but the golem’s system ensured those repairs could be completed with near perfection.
With Tier 4, the ship also inherited the defensive systems granted at Tier 3. Essentially, this meant the golem had a natural defense mechanism, like hardening certain areas when under attack or during a collision.
As for the golem’s offensive capabilities, Broken couldn’t quite picture how they would function. It seemed like something he would need to test out firsthand.
[Ocean Veil (Active Skill):
The ship cloaks itself in shimmering water magic, making it difficult to target and blending it with its surroundings.]
The first skill the golem possessed was Ocean Veil—a skill Broken hadn’t expected at all.
With this ability, the golem could camouflage itself within the vast expanse of the ocean. The question was, did this skill only work against ships and vessels on the surface, or would it also affect sea creatures lurking below?
Regardless, the potential was undeniable. This skill could prove invaluable, especially in situations where evasion was critical. If they encountered a threat they needed to avoid, Ocean Veil could ensure their escape.
It was an extraordinary skill for a ship to have, one that could turn the tide of danger in their favor.
[Oceanstride Boost (Active Skill):
Activates the ship’s turbine for a massive speed boost, leaving a glowing trail of energy behind.
Effect: Increases speed by 100% for 20 seconds. The glowing trail slows pursuing enemies by 30%.]
The next skill was Oceanstride Boost. Broken was always fascinated by mobility-focused abilities, especially in his type of golems that thrived on speed and maneuverability. It reminded him of Beebot and Zepy, both of whom had skills in a similar vein.
Although this skill wasn’t something they’d need to activate repeatedly—since long sea voyages required careful resource management—it could be a game-changer in critical moments. If they encountered an adversary they needed to evade, Oceanstride Boost would allow them to break away quickly.
Once again, here was another skill tailored perfectly for escape mechanisms. Truly ideal for their mission.
[Ripple Phase (Active Skill):
Temporarily phases the ship into an ethereal state, allowing it to pass through obstacles.
Grants invincibility for 5 seconds and lets the ship move through enemies or terrain without collision.]
What the hell?
Broken blinked, rereading the skill description.
Ripple Phase?!
The skill allowed the ship to enter an ethereal state, phasing through obstacles as if they weren’t even there. But wait—did this also apply to the passengers on board? It would be bizarre (and dangerous) if activating this mode somehow caused everyone inside to plummet into the ocean.
He’d have to test this one right away, especially since they were still near the shore.
Still, if the skill worked seamlessly for both the ship and its passengers, it would be incredible when paired with the first two skills. Combining Ocean Veil, Oceanstride Boost, and Ripple Phase would create a nearly foolproof escape system. Camouflage to disappear, speed to flee, and phasing to bypass any physical barriers—all tools for evasion in the harsh and unpredictable sea.
But there it was. Three skills entirely focused on escape mechanisms. While this might seem limited, it made perfect sense for their situation. In the open ocean, where danger could come from any direction, survival often meant running rather than fighting. After all, the sea wasn’t their battleground; a single misstep could lead to disaster if the ship were to sink.
Escape-focused skills were not just practical—they were lifesaving. Even for a legendary-grade ship, Broken found the specialization impressive. The extraordinary nature of the abilities likely compensated for the sheer size of the vessel, which was no doubt a significant factor in its energy demands.
Moving a ship this massive required immense power, and the golem core would surely deplete faster than usual during extended journeys. They’d need to prepare for this by hunting sea monsters along the way to replenish their supply of cores.
The stakes were high, but with these abilities, the ship had the potential to be their greatest tool—or their most demanding challenge.
[Leviathan’s Fury (Active Skill):
The ship channels the wrath of the seas, summoning colossal waves imbued with destructive energy to crush its foes.
Generates a massive tidal wave, dealing heavy water-element damage and knocking back enemies. Sea creatures are stunned for 5 seconds.]
And then there it was—the final skill. Leviathan’s Fury!
Finally, an offensive ability, and judging by the description, it was nothing short of extraordinary. This was a massive area-of-effect skill that could summon colossal waves to attack enemies within a designated zone. Not only that, but it also stunned sea creatures for five seconds—a remarkable power.
Even so, Broken knew the ship didn’t necessarily need offensive capabilities. After all, everyone aboard could contribute to its defense if the situation demanded it. As long as the ship could hold its ground and avoid sinking, that was already a victory in itself.
More importantly, the ship’s ability to maneuver effectively, utilizing the mechanics built into it, was the real priority. For that reason, Broken was eager to see how the turbines would perform. Would they operate as smoothly as the design promised?
He glanced at the others. “Let’s take it out for a spin and see how it handles.”
“Let’s go!” came the unified response.
One by one, they climbed aboard. Broken, Ronan, and Mizuki quickly moved toward the control room, where Broken would install the golem core and bring the ship to life for its very first movement.
The system came to life smoothly—everything seemed to be working perfectly.
“All right!” he said, the excitement building in his voice.
He took a deep breath, standing tall as he faced the controls.
“Aego! Move out!” he commanded with determination.
