Chapter 698 - 704: Forced Love Doesn't Taste Sweet! (Fourth Update)
Chapter 698: Chapter 704: Forced Love Doesn’t Taste Sweet! (Fourth Update)
The aura around the two practitioners in the Circulation Phase was not extremely formidable. Still, they were shrouded in a spine-chilling, terror-inducing aura.
This aura was different from any power fluctuation and carried an unaccountably eerie feeling everywhere.
One of them, an old man in white, seemed like an endless black hole. Looking at him, one could lose oneself. The other slightly overweight old man, however, was enveloped by an endless flurry of sword lights. This terrifying aura of spiritual power was daunting to anyone who saw it.
This was not a deliberate release from the two. In fact, no one could mimic this aura easily. It was the type of aura that harmonizes with the Taoist Feeling with every breath, a sign of the subtle application of the Taoist laws.
Both the elderly man in white and the slightly overweight elderly man wore somber faces. The people behind them brimmed with murderous intent. They were marching directly towards the Northern Island Mountain Range, clearly up to no good.
The slightly overweight old man looked at the boundless Beiqi Mountain Range with a bewildered expression, speaking in a deep voice, “I hadn’t expected that Yang Zhen not only managed to escape from Thunder Lustre Hellfire, but it also seems he has bagged some incredible chance.”
The elderly man in white glanced at the slightly overweight elder and chuckled, “Just a lucky lad, who daringly slaughtered nearly a hundred of our Five Tribes. If we don’t kill this child, how can the Five Tribes of the North Island stand in the cultivation world?”
The slightly overweight elder furrowed his eyebrows, murmuring, “I initially came here for the Tri-Floral Temple, killing Yang Zhen was just a task of convenience. Unexpectedly, I ran into White, a member of the Gu Jin tribe. It seems we need to reconsider this matter carefully.”
If there were other practitioners from the Northern Island here, they would be astonished to hear the words of the overweight old man. The man in white before them was Bai Shengbo, a powerful practitioner during the Circulation Phase from the Gu Jin tribe, who had audaciously stormed Thunder Lustre Hellfire and returned unscathed.
Bai Shengbo looked at the overweight old man nonchalantly, smiled and said, “Rumor has it that Tai Zhongquan embarked on the path of the sword. Seeing you today, it seems the reputation is well deserved.”
Tai Zhongquan laughed heartily, looked at Bai Shengbo and said, “Your Stellar Talent has transcended my insignificant Tao. How could old me be considered on par with you.”
Bai Shengbo furrowed his brows, looked stern and said solemnly, “Tai, between you and me, there is no longer a need for such probing. I didn’t come here for the Tri-Floral Temple. I’m indifferent to whether Yang Zhen lives or dies. However, I am determined to have the Tri-Floral Saintess.”
Tai Zhongquan raised an eyebrow, laughed heartily, and said, “In that case, there is no conflict between us. It’s just that Yang Zhen, an insignificant practitioner at the ninth layer of the Mahayana Phase, is worth both of us taking action.”
Bai Shengbo chuckled and said, “Yang Zhen’s life and death are minor. My Gu Jin tribe’s reputation must remain untarnished.”
“Indeed. What’s your plan, Brother Bai?” Tai Zhongquan calmly looked at Bai Shengbo.
Bai Shengbo laughed coldly, “The matters of Northern Island nowadays are negligible. With drastic changes in the world, major forces are popping up like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. The Buddhist and the demon practitioners from the Western Regions Sinful Sea are both shifting their focus to the north. Soon there will inevitably be a fierce battle. Compared to them, we hold no advantage. We must find a way to make the Five Tribes able to be unanimously supported in the North Island.”
Tai Zhongquan took a deep breath, his expression turned solemn, nodded and said, “Those demon practitioners are not to be feared. They can only use some despicable tides of corpses tactics. As long as we have enough followers, we can slaughter these demon practitioners. It’s just that those bald-headed monks are not easy to deal with.”
Bai Shengbo, upon hearing this, shook his head and said, “What I’m worried about is not those Buddhist practitioners. No matter how powerful they are, they fear the natural law. They dare not do anything against it. What troubles me more are those demon practitioners filled with sinful desires and those who simply refuse to die.”
“So, what’s the Gu Jin tribe planning to do?” Tai Zhongquan asked curiously.
Bai Shengbo pondered for a moment, took a deep look at the Northern Island Mountain Range and said, “Over ten thousand practitioners are gathering on the North Island right now, all wanting to witness the spirit soul of the Tri-Floral Saintess. Why don’t we seize this opportunity, show those rogue practitioners the heritage depth of our Ancient Tribe while we’re eliminating Yang Zhen. In this way, it will be much easier for the Five Tribes to expand their influence and power.”
Upon hearing Bai Shengbo, Tai Zhongquan laughed heartily, and said, “Great idea, brother Bai. Your plan is undoubtedly ingenious. In this way, even if those demon practitioners come to our North Island, we can ensure they will not return!”
“The Sinful Sea of the Western Regions. I’ve wanted to see what it’s like there for ten thousand years.”
“Within the boundless desert lies the burial heart of an Emperor, the rumor of the last great emperor from the world of Practitioners ended there. If we can find some clues, we might be able to solve this mystery that has plagued us for countless years… but…”
At this point, Tai Zhongquan’s face flashed a mocking smile, before he continued, “However, with the world ever-changing and the mundane not known, enticing those rogue practitioners to willingly assist us isn’t an easy task.”
Bai Shengbo coldly snorted without turning his head and said, “Fu Kun, come and meet Senior Tai.”
Tai Zhongquan was stunned briefly before turning around to see a vibrant and handsome young man, wrapped in sunset-like aura, approaching. He bowed towards Tai Zhongquan and said, “Junior Fu Kun, it’s an honor to meet Senior Tai.”
Tai Zhongquan nodded, then returned a doubtful glance towards Bai Shengbo. His expression changed abruptly as he turned to look at Fu Kun again, gasping in surprise, “Such a strong Tiaoist detail, at such a young age, you are indeed the continuation of the Gu Jin lineage.”
Bai Shengbo burst into laughter and agreed, “Fu Kun is, by far, the practitioner with the highest talent I have ever seen. With him here, there’s no need for either of us to deal with Yang Zhen ourselves.”
Tai Zhongquan seemed surprised, “I heard that although Yang Zhen’s realm is not high, his cultivation is incredibly formidable. Will Fu Kun…”
Fu Kun confidently smiled, “Senior Tai, we practitioners cultivate the Tiaoist way where principle is fundamental and law secondary. Although those who guard the principles are associated with law, it’s not necessarily so. Why should I resort to physical means to settle things with Yang Zhen?”
On hearing his words, Tai Zhongquan gaped in astonishment and burst into laughter, asking with interest, “Do you intend to engage in a discussion with Yang Zhen instead?”
The possibility of witnessing an unconventional discourse excited even Tai Zhongquan who was known to possess strong Tiaoist details.
Fu Kun chuckled, shaking his head, “I heard that Yang Zhen had just entered the Dao. It would be grossly unfair to debate with him at this stage.”
“So, what are you up to then?” Tai Zhongquan, with a puzzled look, turned to Bai Shengbo. However, Bai Shengbo showed no intention to explain anything.
Left with no choice, Tai Zhongquan turned his attention to the people behind Fu Kun. Sure enough, everyone from the ancient Gu Jin tribe looked at Fu Kun fervently, clearly admiring the young man intensely.
At this point, Fu Kun revealed a gentle and cultivated smile, slowly answering Tai Zhongquan’s question, “I simply intend to teach him a lesson.”
Tai Zhongquan was momentarily taken aback before he, too, laughed heartily. With a pat on Fu Kun’s shoulder, he admired, “Good lad! I’m getting kind of eager myself. Once this is done, all practitioners worldwide can witness the profound heritage of my ancient tribe. I must go back, open the Ancient Origin Holy Land, and who knows, we may need to compete with your Gu Jin tribe for some disciples.”
Bai Shengbo smiled, “Feel free, my friend.”
…
Meanwhile, just as the Charm Cat curiously asked Yang Zhen, “Kid, are you going to find someone to debate when you go back?”
Yang Zhen smirked, “We’ll see, a melon twisted off unwillingly won’t be sweet. As a Sao Saint, I can’t just go back and grab random people off the streets to debate, right?”
“Fair enough. Wait, why are these people still waiting here?”
