Chapter 686: Crushing Through Like a Storm
Chapter 686: 686: Crushing Through Like a Storm
“Pass through that dark wall up ahead—Ignarion is just beyond it,”
Mabubu pointed toward the Abyss wall, then turned to glance nervously at Orson.
“You’re not going to… eat me once I’m no longer useful, right?”
“Relax. I don’t eat grilled fish,”
Orson’s lips curled into a teasing smile, amusement flickering in his black eyes.
He knew well—on the Acid Waters World, the most humiliating death an adventurer could suffer wasn’t being slain in battle, but being roasted and eaten by fellow adventurers. That was the only reason Mabubu had been so eager to cooperate.
“Phew… scared me for a second. You Earthlings are really hard to figure out.”
Mabubu exhaled deeply, his two bulging eyes flashing intense light like floodlamps, scanning the dark red walls of the Abyss.
“Be warned—the Dark Wall leads into other tunnels. You’ll run into lost Heaven Demons. Are you sure this handful of people is enough?”
Mabubu asked, clearly doubtful.
“Won’t know till we try,”
Orson replied with a cryptic smile.
There was no need to speak of the Godslayer Triad’s combat strength. The other three weren’t exactly pushovers either.
But Orson’s overwhelming presence often overshadowed them. If not for that, each one—Usher, Wedge, and Drunken Dream—could easily stand at the top of their own warzones.
With Mabubu as their reluctant guide, the team finally saw the hidden structure of the Abyss: numerous branching fissures, some so vast that chaotic space currents roared through them. Even from afar, the chilling void pressed against their bones.
According to Mabubu, many of these tunnels once held Watchpoint Cities, but most had been destroyed.
Originally, the Abyss had nineteen Watchpoints, each guarded by a pseudo-god-class adventurer.
But as intelligent high-tier Heaven Demons evolved, they systematically wiped out these cities. Even the ten humanoid war-weapons modified by the gods had been slaughtered.
Which meant that even with all nine node devices, controlling the Heaven Demons was anything but easy.
“There it is—through that rift! Watch out for the Heaven Demons lurking in the dark!”
Mabubu’s glowing head-lamps illuminated a massive crack in the tunnel wall.
Aeloria swung her tail with a loud crackle and dove in.
“Stay sharp,”
Orson called out.
Usher didn’t hesitate. His dark dragon roared and followed right behind.
Drunken Dream grumbled, “Uh… I’m the Dragon Knight. Shouldn’t I be leading?”
Everyone paused. Theoretically, the Silver Dragon Knight—with his massive HP pool and shielding—was the ideal tank to take point.
“Forget it. If a spellcaster with tens of millions of HP wants to go first, I’m not stopping him,”
Madman rolled his eyes.
“Tens of millions…?”
Drunken Dream and the others nearly turned to stone.
“You brainless moron,”
Bradley whispered in party chat.
“You just leaked guild secrets.”
“Er… pretend I didn’t say anything,”
Madman clamped his mouth shut, realizing his mistake.
“Even with that much HP, one hit to a weak point and he’ll still drop dead. I’m not cleaning up the corpse,”
Usher muttered coldly.
“I’m not so weak that I need you handling my mess,”
Orson chuckled, his tone light but full of unshakable confidence.
“Plenty of strong beings in the Infinite Dimensions galaxy. Don’t let your guard down.”
“You kill ten, I’ll kill a hundred. You kill a hundred, I’ll bury ten thousand,”
Usher said, egging him on, spurring his dragon to fly faster.
The two dragons surged forward like twin comets, leaving the rest of the group far behind.
“They really are undisciplined,”
Drunken Dream muttered.
“Am I even needed anymore?”
“You’re not wrong, but there’s no point comparing yourself to monsters,”
Wedge gave him a reassuring look, soft and graceful.
Drunken Dream blushed and looked away, avoiding her gaze like a schoolboy caught staring.
“They’re here! There’s so many of them!”
Mabubu cried out. His massive eyes scanned the cracked walls, revealing hundreds of grayish-white monsters waking up, each with wide, gleaming eyes.
[Pale Lizard Demon – Level 100]
Type: Low-Tier Heaven Demon
HP: 9,000,000
Attack: 10,000–30,000
Skills: Demonic Musculature, Serrated Bite]
The rift walls began squirming violently. The grinding, squelching noises were enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.
The Pale Lizard Demons clung to the walls, necks stretching out, skin darkening from gray to deep blue.
“Warning: Pale Lizard Demon has activated Demonic Musculature. Incoming magic damage reduced by 50%.”
“Warning…”
The notifications sent a shiver through the group. Their dragon mounts roared in defiance, and four high-tier Holy Dragons unleashed elemental breath attacks.
Four radiant beams of destruction blasted through the dark, sending dozens of Pale Lizard Demons plummeting like hail.
But the demons were tough, strong, and relentless. They flared their fleshy wings and dove at the group.
Velorith was quickly swarmed.
“Holy crap! These bites hurt! They’ve got some kind of true damage buff!”
Bradley shouted in shock as Velorith roared in agony, his health plummeting by over 20 million in seconds. The dragon thrashed to shake them off.
Even when torn apart by lightning, the Pale Lizard Demons’ heads stayed latched onto Velorith’s scales, still dealing damage.
“Shield of Holy Light!”
“Aurora Barrier!”
Wedge’s expression darkened as she fired off a barrage of support skills.
Holy light burst across Velorith’s scales. With the Aurora Barrier’s reflect effect, the Lizard Demons were blasted off one by one.
“Sky-Piercing Rising Dragon!”
Drunken Dream roared. His dragon spear trembled, unleashing a shockwave that pulled all nearby enemies into one point.
“Perfect control!”
Madman grinned. He had Quarla unleash a golden S-rank Dragon Curse: Elemental Detonation!
Roar!
Golden light exploded from above and below. The trapped demons were instantly crushed into pulp.
The combat log flashed nonstop—over two thousand Pale Lizard Demons down in seconds.
“Nice!”
Drunken Dream shouted.
“Good coordination,”
Wedge nodded in approval.
The group exchanged nods, basking in the thrill of such synchronized, high-level teamplay.
“See? We’re not that much weaker than those two…”
Madman began, only to pause, turning abruptly.
An ear-piercing whistle of arrows froze him mid-sentence.
“…Never mind.”
He stared, dumbfounded.
“…What the hell is that attack speed?”
Drunken Dream held his head, laughing bitterly.
“Yeah, we’re not far behind. Just one dimension away.”
One man, one bow—untouchable in the middle of a storm of corpses.
Over ten kilometers of range. Every shot critting for over a million. Firing over sixty arrows per second.
“I told you. I don’t lose. I’m Usher!”
His voice echoed like thunder, carrying the arrogance of a true apex predator.
Orson looked over and murmured, “Holy shit. If I gave him my speed-boosting Titan prosthetic…”
In just a few minutes, no one knew how many arrows Usher had fired.
The Pale Lizard Demons blocking the path were reduced to mincemeat, a clear corridor blasted straight through them.
Over twenty thousand Heaven Demons were shredded like paper.
And this wasn’t even Usher at full strength. If he summoned his Hell Golem, then the real show would begin.
Still, Orson understood—this Usher was far stronger than the one from his past life. Level 85, triple Divine Soul Seals. If he didn’t die, he would absolutely become divine.
“This human… is terrifying…”
Mabubu muttered, soaked in sweat for the third time.
Seeing Usher in his element, Orson didn’t want to ruin his fun. He trailed behind, letting the guy flex to his heart’s content.
Drunken Dream sighed. The Silver Dragon Knight King—reduced to a support role.
They pushed forward, obliterating everything.
Crushing the enemy, steamrolling through.
Over a million Heaven Demons were reduced to EXP and merit points.
Soon, the wave of enemies thinned out. The squad reached a new area.
“You have discovered: Watchpoint Ignarion!”
The city was brightly lit, larger than Obseria by far. Shadowy figures moved within—clearly unaware of the arrival of some very, very uninvited guests.
