Chapter 4694: The Emerged IV
Chapter 4694: The Emerged IV
THE Faraday Cage and THE Infinite Loom were designs of glorious innovation and wonder as they currently shone with a reinforced glow of power after weathering through THE Fallout itself.
Noah appeared directly before the vibrant blue-gold barriers of THE Infinite Loom as he looked outside to the changed Weavings of Existence, and they looked absolutely marvelous in the most terrifying way possible.
The immediate landscape outside of THE Infiniverse was filled by regions of space that shone with a stellar gray hue, expressing a form of destruction and brilliance at the same time. There seemed to be solid gray clouds pulsing with ash and flames, roiling like thunderheads made of concentrated devastation. If one looked up or down, or in any other direction really, they would notice a faint trace of what looked like ash raining in every direction.
When this ash touched onto surfaces, Existence in that area would sizzle slightly as smoke would bloom. It was as if the very atmosphere had become corrosive, hostile to anything that dared to exist within it.
And with his own eyes, Noah could only see barely more than a mile in every direction. Beyond that, the gray ash and clouds formed an impenetrable curtain that swallowed all perception.
And-
KAAA!
As he was thinking and observing all of this, out of absolutely nowhere, a massive form barreled out from the ash-filled Weavings of Existence outside. Since what he could observe was only a mile in every direction, with the gray ash and clouds seemingly covering everything after that, he only managed to see the creature when it was already upon him.
It came to smash onto the walls of THE Infinite Loom.
BOOM!
The barrier buzzed.
The impact was heavy as the entity that had done it actually held Depth.
Depth!
SCREE!
"What the fuck..."
He had not even gotten out yet.
He was just observing and waiting for the complete end of THE Fallout, and something was already being chucked toward his direction?
His gaze was stern as he observed the monstrous thing that had appeared outside of his home. The thing was currently banging its head on THE Infinite Loom, and shockingly, even though it could not see him, its maddened eyes were locked onto him as if it came here specifically for him.
The creature was horrifying in a way that transcended normal terror.
Its general form resembled that of a Gulper Eel, with an impossibly large mouth that seemed to comprise most of its body. The jaw could unhinge to reveal rows upon rows of teeth that spiraled inward like a meat grinder made of bone. Its body was elongated and serpentine, covered in skin that looked like it had been turned inside out and then burned.
But what truly made it nightmarish were the markers of the cursed that spread across its flesh paired with all this. Faint cracks glowed with residual Fallout energy, covering every inch of its monstrous form. The cracks pulsed with a sickly gray-multicolored light, and from some of the larger fissures, wisps of primordial energy leaked out like steam from a broken pipe.
Its eyes were the worst. They held no sanity, no thought beyond desperate hunger. They were the eyes of something that had been broken by THE Fallout and reformed into a creature of pure need.
As Noah observed it, The First Tongue buzzed as waves of information were extracted.
CREATURE ANALYSIS
Designation: Emerged Devourer
Classification: The Awakened
Depth: THE Intermediate Depth of Absolute Sovereignty
Origin: Malformed Ginnu Lifeform from THE Belly of Existence
Status: Unable to resist the effects of THE Fallout. Underwent forced mutation.
Potential Group Ascertained: THE EMERGED
Origin: Entities from THE Belly of Existence who were affected by The Fallout when THE Living Paradox’s attack tore open THE Creature’s domain.
Mutation Type: Primordial Regression
The Emerged are entities who were exposed to The Fallout while simultaneously being bathed in the primordial energies of THE Belly of Existence. This dual exposure caused them to regress toward more fundamental, more ancient forms of existence.
Characteristics:
- Bodies shifting toward primordial, proto-existence states
- Can access abilities from the era before differentiation
- Perceive reality in ways that predate current Existence’s structure
- Struggle to communicate with post-differentiation entities
- Slowly losing connection to modern Existence’s rules
Hierarchy:
- The Awakened: Recently emerged, still adapting to their new nature (Current specimen)
Curse Variation:
The Emerged bear a modified version of THE Existential Ceiling. While they cannot reach Absolute Depth through normal means, their primordial regression grants them access to power structures that predate the Depth system entirely.
Unique Boon - Primordial Memory:
- Can access inherited memories from before differentiation
- Possess knowledge of Existence’s fundamental structure
- Can perceive the "cracks" in reality that The Fallout created
MUTATION DETAILS: PRIMORDIAL HUNGER
This specific specimen underwent a horrific mutation that amplified its base instincts to catastrophic levels.
Effect: The creature’s existence feels perpetually thirsty, craving rich Weavings of Existence to sustain itself.
Behavior: Any entity that comes within a few miles will be sensed if they possess rich Weavings of Existence. The creature will pursue them with undeniable, maddened need.
Note: THE Infiniverse and your personal Weavings register as extraordinarily rich sources. This creature likely sensed you from maximum perception range and immediately charged.
Warning: Where there is one Emerged, there are likely many more. THE Belly of Existence contained countless entities.
...!
Noah observed the details of this creature that roared toward him and THE Infiniverse with a maddened glare.
He could not help but think of Lumivara, Ul’Moreth, and The Fisherman.
They had been in THE Belly of Existence when THE Fallout struck. They had been exposed to those same primordial energies while the attack tore through THE Creature’s domain.
Had they undergone similar mutations?
Or had they been strong enough, aware enough, to resist the regression and maintain their sanity?
He did not know.
And in this new Existence where communication was impossible and perception was limited to mere miles, he had no way of finding out.
BOOM!
THE Emerged Devourer slammed against THE Infinite Loom again, its massive maw trying to bite through barriers that had withstood THE Fallout itself. Cracks of cursed energy flared across its body with each impact, and its screech of frustration echoed through the gray landscape.
Noah watched it with cold, calculating eyes.
This was his first glimpse of what awaited outside.
An Intermediate Depth creature, driven mad by hunger, attacking his home within minutes of THE Fallout’s conclusion.
And according to the information extracted, where there was one, there were likely many more.
THE Belly of Existence had contained many entities.
All of them now exposed to THE Fallout.
All of them potentially transformed into these Emerged.
All of them fucking hungry.
