Chapter 1074: A Strange Viper

Chapter 1074: A Strange Viper

Dieng Canyon!

There was a golden flash, following which a group of Zingers found themselves brought to the ground before Orakha. Their wings had been punctured, preventing them from gliding away.

Orakha ignored the group and instead focused his gaze upon their colony, which was now empty. Under his control, a Rirenal spike clamped upon a Baobab Tree and lifted it into the sky. Latched onto it like fruits were Prana Bombs.

Orakha carried a large bunch of them and shifted them into the Ennoudu Plains. He currently stood at a spot 40 kilometres within the Dieng Canyon. The batch of Prana Bombs he looted were transported a hundred kilometres into the Ennoudu Plains, too far for the Zingers to even think of getting them back.

He repeated the same actions until he had collected enough.

“Can you guard the Prana Bomb pile?” Orakha asked.

Ruvva nodded and then asked, “What will you do?”

“I’ll be back soon.” Saying so, Orakha lifted Ruvva and placed her before the pile. He then turned into a golden flash and flickered through the maze-like canyon.

All the Zingers could do was stare at the golden flash. Their eyes were strong enough to capture the flash. However, their bodies couldn’t even react in time, shoulders flinching only a while after the flash had passed their position.

Two hours later, Orakha appeared before Ruvva, holding a large cylindrical container of Rirenal, filled to the brim with Parute Fruits.

“Is that related to…” Ruvva trailed off, wondering why Parute Fruits and Prana Bombs were necessary.

“Watch over this too.” Saying so, Orakha turned into a golden flash and vanished.

When watched in close-up, one would notice Orakha’s body turn into a golden humanoid and morph its legs, resembling a cheetah. The spine crouched and soon, the blocks had morphed enough to turn into a cheetah fully.

The padded feet were built with springs for more explosive force. Similarly, the nails formed a pattern to increase traction as much as possible. A layer of Prana surrounded it, generating psychokinesis.

Even without actuating any Spirit Weapon, its sheer density generated enough grip onto the land, enough for the cheetah to speed further.

As for the speed? The cheetah was already covering five kilometres every second. If it were to go any faster, the sheer friction might impede it.

Of course, a Rirenal user’s Spirit Weapon travelled faster, significantly faster. Around the user, it travelled at a speed of 180 metres per second. Of course, at this speed, the majority of the Prana and psychokinesis was used to just combat the air resistance and employ Mystic Kinesis Art to keep refining the Spirit Weapon so that its structural integrity wouldn’t collapse.

Five kilometres an hour was a comfortable long-distance speed for Orakha. It was optimal in terms of speed versus Prana consumption. Any faster, and he would be expending more Prana per every kilometre of distance covered.

Soon, he crossed the Ennoudu Plains and entered a region covered by trees that reached a height of 400 metres. They were Decodus Trees, and amidst a forest of them, was a Mud Viper nest.

Followed by a golden flash, he plunged through its entrance, avoided every Mud Viper long the way, and before they could even retaliate in response, was out of the nest.

Kreeee!

Mud Vipers spilt out of the nest like a horde, intending to destroy the introduced. However, by the time they managed to leave their nest, Orakha was already running across the Ennoudu Plains in hic cheetah form.

And hovering behind him, trailing him, was a container. Securely sealed within it was a Mud Viper egg. He only brought one.

“You’re back already?” Ruvva gasped in shock, “How are you so fast?”

“Boul Brimgan is even faster,” Orakha chuckled, “I’m nothing special in terms of speed before him.”

“Anyway, I got everything I wanted.” He said and lifted the Mud Viper egg.

“Are you planning to create a special Pranic Beast?” Ruvva asked, expressing her curiosity, “Is it so easy? You only have three items with you. Is that enough?”

“Mud Vipers are prone to mutations, but you don’t see any of them in their nest. Why do you think so?” Orakha asked.

“They kill any foreign creature that sets foot in their territory,” Ruvva replied.

“Yes,” Orakha nodded, “So, when a mutant appears among them, it is killed by the Mud Vipers.”

“Anyway, I intend to take advantage of one such mutation,” Orakha said as followed by a stream of flashes, cracked shells of Prana Bombs filled one side. The plasma within the Prana Bombs had been poured into a large vat.

Orakha immersed the Mud Viper egg in it and sealed the container.

“What now?” Ruvva asked.

“Now,” Orakha chuckled, “We wait.”

“That’s it?” Ruvva tilted her head in shock, “Is that all it takes to mutate a Mud Viper? And…And!”

She expressed confusion, “Will such a casual mutation create your original build?”

“You’re aware of Sumatra Chronicles,” Orakha eyed Ruvva and then asked, “How much of it do you understand?”

“What?” Ruvva gasped, “Understand? I mean, I know everything that happens in it.”

“Anyone who has read the story knows what happens in it.” Orakha rolled his eyes, “I am asking…”

“How much have you dreamed about Sumatra Chronicles?”

“Dream?” Ruvva frowned, “What is there to dream about in it?”

“Possible builds you could obtain if you were ever born on Sumatra.” Orakha stated in all seriousness, “That is pretty much the theme that Sumatra Chronicles cultivates in our minds. It is rich will all sorts of possibilities.”

“Then,” Ruvva stared at the vat and asked, “Is this build something you conceptualised while reading it on Earth?”

“Yes,” Orakha nodded.

“How are you sure it will work as is?” Ruvva frowned, “I don’t remember it having any mutation recipes to create new Pranic Beast Races.”

“No, it has plenty.” Orakha revealed a smile, “But it’s not directly listed. The recipes are like pieces of a puzzle, scattered across the book. You find whatever garners your interest and try to complete the puzzle.”

“Then, the Pranic Beast you intend to create is based on one such recipe?” Ruvva asked next.

“When Resha explored a Mud Viper Nest, raiding the Mud Vipers of their toxins, intending to create an Elixir using his completed Skill of Toxin Refinement, the latter were described in detail.” Orakha said, “Among that, there was a scene where four Mud Vipers ignored swarming Resha and instead were tearing into another viper.”

“I remember that scene!” Ruvva exclaimed, “But only that variant’s appearance was displayed, nothing else.”

“Recall the entire scene, will you?” Orakha chuckled.

Scree!

Mud Vipers swarmed Resha, shooting Mud Balls at him. However, a swing by his hammer, and a gust of wind splattered the Mud Balls at the Mud Vipers. Hovering beside him was a storage lantern, unchanging in shape.

Grabbing a Mud Viper, Resha pressed upon its fangs, causing its toxins to ooze out. Strangely, forming a stream in the air, the toxins flowed into the storage lantern.

“Hmm?” Resha observed that not all Mud Vipers had targeted him. With a wave of his hammer, he cleared out a small group, revealing four Mud Vipers tearing into the body of a viper variant.

Sporting an orange skin with pink stripes resembling lightning, the creature was barely ten centimetres long. It had four forelimbs, their ends eerily resembling human hands. The face, now smashed up, presented an uncanny-valley effect, having human traces.

The creature appeared dead, twitching a few times before breathing its last. Its internal organs had been gorged upon, spraying them outside. It had been brutally tortured and killed. Covering it was the plasma from the egg it had hatched from. However, the scene emanating from them seemed different, ’Prana Bomb?’

Resha thought, but didn’t feel anything definitive from it to conclude anything. He glanced at it once, noticing the pink lightning patterns strangely…resembled human hands?

“Must be another variant,” He shook his head and continued collecting Mud Viper Toxins.

“That was the full scene.” Orakha smiled, “Do you get it now?”

“Um…no,” Ruvva shook her head, “That told me nothing other than its appearance.”

“Do you know how the Prana Bomb fluid might have appeared in the nest?” Orakha asked, “Their territory is separated from the Dieng Canyon by the Ennoudu Plains. Zingers don’t traverse such a distance.”

“Then, what is exactly the cause?” Ruvva frowned.

“Hmm, do you recall what happened in the previous scene?” Orakha asks.

“The Mammoth Clan passed through the Mud Viper nests.” Ruvva said, “And Resha stayed behind, intending to farm for Mud Viper Toxins while the Empyrean Tusk herd stopped to take a break in the Ennoudu Plains.”

“Didn’t they raid a Mud Viper nest after the latter stole their reserve of food?” Orakha said.

“Uncle, you’re confusing me too much.” Ruvva felt a headache, “Please, just tell me the answer.”

“No, think about it some more.” Orakha said, “It’ll be helpful for you when you figure it out. After all, even in the future, Sumatra Chronicles will assist you a lot.”

“It is information Renduldu had extracted using Future Sight. It has details that even he might not fully understand.” Orakha said, “For now…”

He pointed at the vat, “Just wait for two days and it’ll be ready.”
