Ch. 1783 - Choosing A Patriarch
Xu Zimo watched calmly.
When the World-Destroying Spear struck, he casually waved his hand.
It was as if the spear had been traced back to its origin. All the power on it vanished in an instant.
This move of Xu Zimo’s was called Absolute Deprivation.
It was neither a technique nor any kind of divine or immortal art.
Because this world was created by him, in a certain sense, he could strip away anything.
Of course, this was not without limits.
Xu Zimo could not act recklessly.
Once a world is formed, it must develop on its own rather than being constantly interfered with.
Excessive interference would be harmful to the edicts of the world.
If this were merely an ordinary particle world, Xu Zimo could toy with it as he pleased.
Unfortunately, his ambitions were far greater.
This world was meant to replace the Nine Heavens. Anything that hindered its development was something Xu Zimo could not tolerate.
Even he himself exercised extreme restraint and avoided influencing the world.
If not for the anomaly of Heaven-Slayers, Xu Zimo would not have intervened at all.
…
After the power of the World-Destroying Spear was erased, it became an ordinary long spear.
Xu Zimo caught it effortlessly in his hand.
“Not enough to reach the apex,” he said with a smile.
The child’s expression changed drastically.
He realized that his Heaven-Connecting Profound Bone had instantly lost all connection with him, and its power seemed to have been erased entirely.
“How can this be?!” he cried in terror.
Although he knew Xu Zimo was strong, he still believed he had some ability to resist.
He had taken the fight seriously and used his trump card from the very beginning.
He wanted to catch Xu Zimo off guard, but the result was that his move was resolved with ease.
“What’s the difference between this and killing an ant?” the child asked himself in despair.
“I told you not to resist, but you wouldn’t listen,” Xu Zimo said with a faint smile.
“See? Just an ant. I can crush you at will. Don’t you understand what secrets of heaven should and should not be known? Heaven gave your Ancient Relicfolk such talent, yet instead of repaying heaven, you create Heaven-Slayers for me. Tell me, how should I kill you?”
Hearing this, the child’s expression flickered uncertainly.
He asked softly, “You… are you really the Ultimate Creator?”
“What do you think?” Xu Zimo asked in return.
The child nodded, then shook his head.
Perhaps even he did not know what to believe anymore.
“If you want to kill me, I accept it,” the child continued.
“But could you spare the Ancient Relicfolk? This matter was my fault alone. It has nothing to do with the others.”
“No,” Xu Zimo shook his head.
“The very existence of the Ancient Relicfolk is an anomaly. If I don’t restrain you, more and more saints will peer into heavenly secrets in the future. That is something I cannot allow, at least not now. Of course, I originally planned to wipe out your Ancient Relicfolk entirely,” Xu Zimo continued calmly.
“But later I reconsidered. After all, you are like my children. If guided back onto the right path, you can still become a force that cannot be ignored.”
“I understand,” the child said slowly as he sat upright.
“I can persuade the clansmen first, then come back and accept death. How about that?”
“A confession before death?” Xu Zimo asked with a smile.
“No,” the child shook his head.
“I’m afraid my death will provoke resentment among the clansmen. At that point, you would kill them all. It’s better that I bear everything alone. They don’t deserve to die.”
“Go,” Xu Zimo waved his hand.
“When this is settled, end your own life. I’ll grant you that much.”
The child nodded and let out a long sigh.
He turned and walked away. At that moment, his figure seemed to age decades.
Though he still looked like a child, his hair had turned white, and his face became old and withered.
Watching the child’s departing back, Paimon asked from the side, “You really plan to spare the Ancient Relicfolk?”
“What else?” Xu Zimo replied.
“Killing them wouldn’t solve anything. Ordinary people are ignorant. They need a leader.”
“My lord favors that Du Xiaozhuang?” Paimon asked tentatively.
“He’s not bad. Steady, just wants to live in peace,” Xu Zimo nodded.
“As for whether he’ll change in the future, that’s a matter for the future. Besides, I plan to give the natives of the God World a lesson. A bunch of children. All of you behave yourselves.”
Paimon nodded.
He respected Xu Zimo’s thinking.
After all, the God World was still fully under control. The strongest beings here were only Saint Sovereigns.
They were worlds apart from the Infinite Dao realm.
With proper guidance, this world would certainly have great potential in the future.
Of course, that guidance could not come from Xu Zimo himself.
It had to come from the natives of the God World.
…
At this moment, an uproar broke out among the Ancient Relicfolk.
It seemed the child had said something to them.
Soon after, the child departed and bowed in Xu Zimo’s direction.
Xu Zimo instructed Paimon, “Follow him. If he doesn’t end things himself, help him do it with dignity.”
“Yes,” Paimon replied and departed through the air.
Xu Zimo then stepped forward. The members of the Ancient Relicfolk looked at him in confusion.
Earlier, the ancestor had left a decree saying he would enter a death seclusion, and that from now on, all matters were to be decided by Xu Zimo.
Though they did not understand the ancestor’s meaning, they vaguely sensed what this implied.
“Everyone, let me introduce myself,” Xu Zimo said with a smile.
“From now on, I will be your leader. You may call me Young Master Xu.”
His voice was not loud, yet it echoed throughout the entire particle world of the Ancient Relicfolk.
There was a moment of silence.
Then everyone bowed in unison. “Greetings, Young Master Xu.”
Patriarch Heaven-Seer stepped forward and announced loudly, “We obey the ancestor’s command.”
“No need to be so formal,” Xu Zimo waved his hand.
“Truth be told, you should have been wiped out just now. On a whim, I decided to give you a chance. What I need are obedient people. I don’t need you to have independent thoughts.”
Everyone was stunned. They had not expected Xu Zimo to speak so bluntly.
“You shouldn’t remain Patriarch either,” Xu Zimo continued.
“You’re unstable, and I don’t feel reassured.”
Heaven-Seer gave a bitter smile and nodded.
Xu Zimo made arrangements for everyone, then left the particle world.
He intended to find a new Patriarch for them.
And that candidate was naturally Du Xiaozhuang.
…
As usual, Du Xiaozhuang finished setting up his tea stall and returned home.
He found Xu Zimo sitting in the courtyard.
“Brother Xu, where did you go? I thought something had happened to you,” Du Xiaozhuang said anxiously.
“Brother Du, I took care of a few things,” Xu Zimo replied with a smile.
“Sit down. Let’s talk.”
Du Xiaozhuang nodded.
Xu Zimo continued, “Do you remember what I told you before?”
“What did you say?” Du Xiaozhuang asked, confused.
“About making you the Patriarch of the Ancient Relicfolk, managing the entire race,” Xu Zimo asked.
