I Really Am A Villain

Ch. 1776 - A Flaw In The God World, The Ancient Relicfolk

All things in the world possess their own will.

To some extent, no one is willing to be a slave, and no one likes being trapped inside a cage.

Even if that cage is vast, once a person has a goal, everything changes.

For the Heaven-Slayers of the God World, this was exactly the situation before them.

When someone attained sainthood, they could not help but wonder what lies beyond the heavens?

Beyond the blue sky visible to the eye, what kind of world exists?

Humans are explorers without end.

Thus, the first group of saints on the God World began to entertain the idea of leaving this world and seeing what lay beyond the heavens.

Naturally, once this idea took shape, Xu Zimo would never allow them to succeed.

And so, slaying the heavens became an inevitable course of action.

This was a dead end. The God World was still in the process of growth.

Xu Zimo could not allow the native inhabitants to leave, nor could he allow outsiders to enter.

With opposing viewpoints, conflict was unavoidable.

What Xu Zimo needed to do was to snuff out this thought at the very beginning.

Yet that also meant there would inevitably be a battle between the two sides.

The final outcome would be a return to a vicious cycle.

The world slays the heavens.

Xu Zimo forced himself to calm down and think about the root cause. Why did humans slay the heavens? And why did he himself slay the heavens?

It was still because strength bred ambition. With growing power came an unwillingness to submit to the constraints of heaven and earth.

Xu Zimo wanted to resolve the problem at its source.

To do that, he had to grow stronger and stronger, and the heavens and earth of the God World had to become vaster and more expansive.

He needed to make these Heaven-Slayers feel that the world was so immense that they were nothing more than ants crawling beneath it.

Only then would all living beings stop thinking about slaying the heavens.

Only then would they obediently cultivate.

In the end, it all came down to strengthening oneself.

Xu Zimo narrowed his eyes. Since that was the case, it was time for him to meet these Heaven-Slayers.

With a single thought, his God-Soul entered the God World.

The moment he arrived, Paimon and the other Infernal Archons hurried over.

They were usually the ones shouting about slaying the heavens.

This was the first time they themselves were being targeted.

“Don’t worry. The sky isn’t falling,” Xu Zimo said with a smile. “Tell me the details.”

“The development of the God World has always been relatively healthy, with countless races coexisting. Although the human race is considered a major race, it isn’t the strongest. Above them are powerful races such as the Divinefolk, the Immortalfolk, the Thunderfolk, and others. Later, for the sake of alliance, the human race divided the entire God World into nine vast regions and established the Nine Regions Legion. Their development over the years has been extremely rapid.”

At this point, Paimon continued, “Originally, we didn’t think much of it. Conflict among the myriad races is normal and happens every day. But recently, I noticed that the human race seems to have reconciled with other races. Moreover, the myriad races have united with a common hatred, all wanting to see what lies beyond the heavens.”

“Oh? The myriad races are at peace?” Xu Zimo frowned.

That was almost unheard of.

What was so appealing about the world beyond the heavens that it inspired such obsession?

“Has anything unusual happened on the God World recently?” Xu Zimo asked.

“Does my lord know about the Ancient Relicfolk?” Paimon suddenly asked.

“A race capable of connecting heaven and earth,” Xu Zimo thought for a moment.

There were simply too many races on the God World. They were all naturally formed by the world itself.

Xu Zimo could not possibly know every single one of them.

He only had a rough outline in mind.

“I suspect it has something to do with the Ancient Relicfolk,” Paimon said.

“You suspect the Ancient Relicfolk contacted the Nine Heavens?” Xu Zimo was startled.

Although the Ancient Relicfolk could communicate with heaven and earth, they connected only with the heaven and earth of the God World, not with the heaven and earth of the Nine Heavens.

Paimon replied solemnly, “That’s exactly why I find it suspicious. After attaining sainthood, the Ancient Relicfolk may have gained special means to glimpse the world outside the God World and then passed that information on to the myriad races.”

“That really is troublesome,” Xu Zimo sighed.

Strictly speaking, the God World existed within his body.

If the natives launched powerful attacks to destroy it, he would be able to sense it.

But if they used special methods instead, it would be difficult to detect unless he constantly monitored the God World.

And Xu Zimo could not possibly keep watch over it at all times.

“I’ll make a trip to the Ancient Relicfolk,” Xu Zimo said.

“If it really is them, what then?” Paimon asked.

“Then we wipe them out. I don’t want anything unbalanced to exist within the God World,” Xu Zimo sighed.

He had great expectations for the future of the God World. One day, it could replace the Nine Heavens and allow him to become the supreme lord of a world.

A fire in the backyard was absolutely unacceptable.

As the saying goes, those who desire to slay the heavens will ultimately be slain themselves.

Thinking about it, it was almost ironic.

The whereabouts of the Ancient Relicfolk were extremely secretive.

Among the myriad races, their strength was not outstanding, not even ranking within the top hundred.

Their population was also very small.

They had failed to develop significantly over many years.

Yet before Xu Zimo, few secrets of the God World could truly remain hidden.

With only a brief search, he fully grasped the location of the Ancient Relicfolk.

This time, Xu Zimo disguised himself as a scholar, while Paimon followed as an assistant.

The two stepped through the air and soon arrived near the territory of the Ancient Relicfolk.

The race numbered only a little over a thousand people. It was hard to believe that such a tiny race could cause Xu Zimo any trouble.

The Ancient Relicfolk lived in a town.

They rested at sunset and worked at sunrise.

The town was quite large, with at least ten thousand inhabitants.

Besides the Ancient Relicfolk, humans and even beastfolk lived there as well.

The people here likely did not know the true background of the Ancient Relicfolk.

When Xu Zimo and Paimon arrived, they were immediately drawn to the town’s prosperity.

Despite its remote location, the market was enormous.

The streets were filled with stalls everywhere, like a grand fair, bustling with people.

The roads were so crowded they were nearly impassable.

“In such a remote place, how can there be so many people?” Paimon said in surprise.

“Let’s ask,” Xu Zimo replied.

Paimon casually grabbed a passerby and asked, “Why are there so many people here in this town?”

The man was initially irritated, but when he realized he couldn’t break free, he explained, “Today marks the largest market this town has ever held. It will last several days. Only during this time is it lively. Once this period passes, it won’t be so bustling.”

Hearing this, Xu Zimo and Paimon understood.

“The Ancient Town has countless rare treasures, and the prices are low. Where are you two from?” the man asked.

“We’re travelers wandering the world and don’t know much about this place,” Xu Zimo said with a smile. “You seem very familiar with the Ancient Town.”

“Of course. Don’t let its remote location fool you. This place is very powerful,” the man warned. “You’d best not cause trouble here.”
