Ch. 1200 - Salvation, The Act Continues
Chaos’ world-ending palm came crashing down.
In an instant, a thunderous boom resounded through the air, and the great formation began to tremble violently, on the verge of collapse.
“Everyone, hold on!” Literature Sovereign shouted. “Even one more second we endure adds one more chance at victory! Destroy this monster, bring peace to the God World, and we shall all be heroes who saved the world!”
Hearing this, everyone’s fighting spirit blazed brighter. Their auras surged to new heights.
One man raised his sword, splitting the sea of blades as a hellish storm of sword energy descended from above, cutting through everything in its path.
Another transformed into a massive bat, his eyes gloomy and sharp, unfurling his wings to release a swarm of countless smaller bats that filled the sky.
The formation stabilized once again, glowing with renewed strength.
“Master Xu, hurry!” Qin Haoshi roared. “We can’t hold it back much longer!”
As Xu Zimo ascended toward the mountain peak, Chaos grew more frantic, roaring wildly while slamming its claws against the barrier.
Burning heat radiated from its body like roaring flames.
“Humans! You dare defy me?” Chaos bellowed. “None of you will escape! You will all be judged!”
Its massive body stood upright, and from its abdomen, a deep, swirling vortex began to spin.
Within the vortex flashed lightning and thunder, and a deep crimson torrent erupted forth, crackling with destructive energy.
That torrent obliterated everything in its path, even the air itself collapsing beneath its force.
With a single deafening boom, the crimson surge struck the barrier. It held for only a brief moment before both the barrier and the formation shattered completely.
Hundreds of figures were flung backward.
That single strike alone crippled nearly half of their number.
Chaos strode forward barefoot, each step raising massive waves that churned across the Northern Sea.
Thunder rolled and the earth itself seemed to quake.
“Block it!” shouted Literature Sovereign.
He struck the ground with his palm and launched himself into the air, hovering in the void. His lips moved quickly in incantation.
“Boundless rivers and mountains, vast are the lands of the Nine Provinces!”
As his words fell, spirit energy gathered and condensed into tangible characters that floated around him.
Righteous energy filled the heavens and earth; mountains and rivers stirred in response.
Each glowing character carried the weight of Daoist might, pressing down with the force to shatter the very void as they descended upon Chaos.
“Such petty tricks!” Chaos sneered.
With a roar, it slashed its iron-like claws through the air, tearing apart the Daoist characters one by one.
“Enough arrogance!” roared Sword Sovereign Yin Ruozhuo of Mighty Heavenly Sword Region, stepping forward with his sword in hand.
A breathtaking sword aura cleaved through the sky, splitting the heavens in two as it struck Chaos squarely.
Another thunderous explosion rang out.
The sword aura dissipated, but Chaos remained completely unharmed.
“This creature’s defense is too strong,” Yin Ruozhuo said grimly.
Among the Six Sovereigns, the one known as the Spear Sovereign, Wang Te, stepped forward and said, “All beast-born creatures develop intelligence late, but they are born with incredible defenses. This one’s body is indestructible. Without that divine blade, there’s no way to wound it.”
“Then no matter what, we must stop it here,” Golden Sovereign Wei Jinwang said firmly. “This may be our final battle!”
“Starfire Spear!” Wang Te shouted, raising his long spear.
The tip of his weapon pointed toward Chaos, and suddenly it split into three shining spears, each surrounded by swirling star-rivers. The very void seemed to turn into a starry sky.
“Kill!”
With a roar, Wang Te’s spear shot forward, a stream of starlight moving faster than the eye could follow, aimed directly at Chaos’s eyes.
Beasts were strong, but their weakness was their eyes.
He intended to end it with one decisive strike.
But as Chaos’s claws swept down, the spear was swatted aside like a twig, vanishing into the sea.
“Hold on just a little longer! The God Blade will soon be ours!” Qin Haoshi yelled.
He looked up to see Xu Zimo already standing at the mountain’s summit.
“Come down here!” Chaos roared, leaping into the air toward the peak.
Its massive body slammed into the mountain, shaking it so violently it nearly snapped in half at the midpoint.
The Six Sovereigns, eyes red with fury, stood up once more, meeting Chaos head-on.
Their bodies were covered in blood, their breaths weak, but they dragged their battered forms forward for one final stand.
“You damned insects!” Chaos howled, each strike of its claws heavy as mountains, shattering the air and raising waves thousands of feet high.
“Kill! Even if we die, it is an honor!” someone shouted.
“To die for a bright and peaceful world, it’s worth it!”
One by one, they fell beneath Chaos’ claws.
Qin Haoshi charged ahead, his aura blazing as he prepared to self-destruct in front of Chaos.
“Lord Qin!” someone screamed.
But just as he was about to explode, a blade light from the heavens split the sky, striking between him and Chaos with a blinding explosion.
The attack threw Chaos back and stopped Qin Haoshi’s self-destruction.
“What…?” everyone looked up in shock.
On the mountain peak stood Xu Zimo, holding the “God Blade” Shadow Tyrant with both hands, standing proudly against the raging storm.
His entire body radiated cutting intent, slicing the very air around him.
“He got it!” someone shouted joyfully.
“The God Blade! He’s obtained the God Blade!” cried one of the Six Sovereigns.
“Today marks the monster’s death!”
Xu Zimo descended from the mountain, his expression calm, though his eyes were slightly narrowed.
He looked at the others and said, “Things have changed. I’ll hold the creature off. You all return to Flame Stone City.”
“What happened?” Literature Sovereign asked, startled.
“This divine blade isn’t quite what I expected,” Xu Zimo said slowly. “It’s difficult to explain now. Retreat to Flame Stone City first. I’ll explain everything when I return.”
Everyone exchanged uncertain glances, but in the end, they nodded.
Of the hundreds who had set out, barely thirty survived. They stepped across the sea, vanishing toward the horizon.
Chaos roared again, trying to chase after them.
But Xu Zimo blocked its path.
When all the others were gone and no traces remained, Xu Zimo finally lowered his blade and said calmly, “That’s enough. They’re gone.”
Chaos chuckled darkly. “How was that, my lord? I acted pretty well, didn’t I?”
“Not bad,” Xu Zimo replied. “Prepare for the next stage, attack Flame Stone City.”
“Understood,” Chaos nodded, its massive body sinking back into the endless ocean.
Xu Zimo looked toward the distant horizon, then struck himself several times across the chest until blood spattered and his flesh was torn.
Only then did he turn and flee toward Flame Stone City, pretending to be gravely wounded.
Three days later, a weary and bloodied group of survivors finally emerged from the Northern Sea.
