I Read Their Tragic Fates, and My Family Reads My Mind?

Chapter 351: The Fighter Jet of Trash

Chapter 351: Chapter 351: The Fighter Jet of Trash

Seeing Melody Lynch looking so down, Arabella Donovan took the opportunity to comfort her. "Hey, don’t pull such a long face. As the old saying goes, ’out with the old, in with the new.’ My sister Eloise is so wonderful! She’s beautiful and brilliant, and most importantly, she’s kind, has great character, and is so considerate. She would never bite the hand that feeds her like a certain someone. When you think about it, you guys are the ones who came out ahead!"

Melody Lynch was both exasperated and amused. She reached out and pinched Arabella’s chubby cheek, chuckling softly. "You know, hearing you say it like that, it actually makes some sense."

"It’s the truth! Don’t you think my sister Eloise is better than her, Melody?"

"Eloise is, of course, a thousand times better than her." Melody Lynch now felt that even comparing Eloise Donovan to that person was an offense to her.

"See? There you go! You parted ways with her not because you weren’t good enough, but because she didn’t deserve your kindness. Disaster befalls those whose virtue doesn’t match their station. It’s been true since ancient times."

’If only Cassandra Lynch hadn’t been so vile, taking the Lynch Family’s kindness for granted and harming my younger cousin and Eloise for her own gain. It’s just as Howard Gallagher said earlier—she was a child they raised for over a decade. Even if she’s not their biological daughter, there would still be some affection. How could they possibly have let her wander the streets, suffering and struggling?’

’It’s like when Mom and Dad found out that Eloise and I were switched at birth. Even though they brought me home and tried to make it up to me in every way, they could never stop worrying about Eloise. But alas, there are no ’what ifs’ in this world.’ Cassandra Lynch was not the wonderful person they had hoped she would be.

Hearing this, a sorrowful look crossed Melody Lynch’s face. Wasn’t it the truth? If Cassandra Lynch hadn’t done anything, her parents would have at most felt like they had gained a family member with no blood relation. Why would they have gone so far as to kick her out of the house and cut off all contact?

It was Cassandra Lynch’s venomous heart that severed the bond they had built over more than a decade, not their own heartlessness.

Thinking this way, Melody Lynch felt much better. She reached out and ruffled Arabella Donovan’s hair, smiling faintly. "I think I’m starting to understand why Mom and Dad, and your sister Eloise, all like you so much."

Arabella Donovan was quick to play along. She cupped her face in her hands and preened, "Of course! It’s because I’m unbelievably cute, gentle, and considerate. Everyone loves me, flowers bloom when I pass by, and car tires burst at the sight of me."

"Oh, you."

The two of them continued downstairs, bantering and joking, but they stopped involuntarily when they saw a few people arguing not far away.

SLAP—

It seemed Mrs. Gallagher was taking out all the anger she had bottled up from her encounter with Mr. Wealth on her daughter. She didn’t hold back with that slap at all.

Genevieve Gallagher’s face immediately began to swell. Her slightly long bangs covered her downcast eyes, making it impossible to see her true feelings.

"You useless thing! Completely worthless. When Mr. Wealth got angry just now, you didn’t even know to step in. You just stood there like a block of wood, watching me get hit, watching your father get humiliated, watching your brother suffer! Not only that, you let them walk all over us. How did I give birth to such a useless thing like you? If I had known you’d be so useless, I never would have had you."

After venting her anger, Mrs. Gallagher started to cry. She cried about how much she had suffered to give birth to Genevieve, how much pain she had endured. She cried that because Genevieve was born a girl, she had to endure countless scornful looks and sarcastic remarks from the rest of the Gallagher family.

Finally, she cried about how she had, with great difficulty, finally given birth to a son, Howard, saving their whole family from their predicament, yet Genevieve showed no gratitude and didn’t even protect her younger brother.

Even a stray dog would have been struck speechless by that tirade, let alone a living, breathing person.

’Oh, for crying out loud! My temper’s about to blow. She’s a useless coward, and now she’s trying to gaslight her daughter into fighting her and her son’s battles? What is wrong with you people? Are the parents supposed to be dead or something? You get called out for pretending to be rich, so you turn around and dump all your anger on your daughter? And then you blame *her* for being useless, for not letting her parents enjoy the sweet taste of arrogance? This despicable couple are truly the worst of the worst, the fighter jets of garbage!’

Arabella Donovan rolled up her sleeves, ready to go and serve some justice, but Melody Lynch pulled her back.

"Melody?"

"We’re the ones who made her so angry. If we go over and stick up for that girl now, we’ll just be adding fuel to the fire. Even if she holds back in public today because she’s afraid of who’s backing you, she’ll definitely take it out on her when they get home. The abuse will only get worse."

Arabella Donovan paused. She was reluctant, but she had to admit that Melody Lynch’s concerns were valid.

"Then what should we do? We can’t just stand here and watch."

Melody Lynch frowned, looking around as if an idea had just struck her.

She turned and met Arabella Donovan’s eyes. The two of them said in unison, "I’ve got it!"

Just as Mrs. Gallagher was getting into the swing of her tirade, a crowd of patients and their families suddenly gathered around.

"I can’t believe people who favor sons over daughters so much still exist these days. And she’s guilt-tripping her daughter about how much she suffered giving birth to her? Is she afraid the girl will grow up too confident, so she’s trying to ’vaccinate’ her in advance to make sure she lives her whole life with low self-esteem?"

"That’s just awful. Look at that girl, she doesn’t even dare to lift her head. She probably gets hit and ridiculed at home all the time. It’s so pitiful just thinking about it."

"Dressed to the nines in designer brands, but her mindset is more feudal and backward than us common folk. ’Giving birth to a boy to save the whole family’... anyone who didn’t know better would think not having a son would literally kill her."

"But it probably *would* kill her! Rich families like that, they’ve all got thrones to inherit at home. If she doesn’t produce an heir to bring glory to the family, how is he supposed to help her fight for the family fortune? How else can she guarantee a lifetime of wealth and luxury for herself?"

"Ah, so that’s how it is. No wonder she treats her daughter like dirt and her son like a treasure. That poor little girl must have had the worst luck for eight lifetimes to be reincarnated into their family."

"You can say that again. So pitiful, so pitiful."

Mrs. Gallagher had never been in a situation like this before. Surrounded by a crowd of strangers pointing and criticizing her, each comment more grating than the last, she completely lost her composure.

"What nonsense are you all spouting? This has nothing to do with you!"

"It isn’t our business, but we have mouths, and we can say what we want. You can’t control that, can you?"

"Exactly! If you’re going to do it, don’t be afraid of people talking about it. Besides, how do you know we’re talking about you? Don’t be so quick to assume it’s about you, or people will just think you have a guilty conscience."

"You... You all..."

"Enough." Mrs. Gallagher’s face was flushed with anger. She wanted to argue with the crowd, but her husband stopped her first.

"Haven’t you made enough of a scene? We’re leaving."

Mrs. Gallagher was still fuming, but she didn’t dare to go against her husband’s wishes. In the end, she shot a warning glare at her daughter before reluctantly following her husband away.

Watching this scene from a distance, Arabella Donovan curled her lip in disdain.

’Fucking scumbag. What’s so great about being a tyrant at home? Of course he only crawls out of the woodwork to make his presence known when his own interests and reputation are on the line. The rest of the time, he might as well be dead.’
