Chapter 2849: Treasure
Chapter 2849: Chapter 2849: Treasure
"Is it too much?" Lin Yi shrugged and said:
"Compared to what you’re doing now, this should be nothing, right?"
Aiden knew that if he couldn’t satisfy him today, this man would never leave.
But for him, this was just a minor issue, nothing serious.
"Since you’re insisting I change the bill, I’ll agree, but I hope once it’s revised, you’ll leave here as soon as possible. I never want to see you again."
"That’s more like someone who understands reason. Remove all the unfavorable parts of the plan. I believe you know what to do, best not to play tricks."
Aiden didn’t say anything more but signaled his secretary to modify the contents of the bill.
The secretary was puzzled. In her view, this was utterly illogical.
But with Aiden’s instructions, she could only proceed as told.
The secretary worked quickly, finishing the modifications in less than half an hour.
Aiden tossed the revised bill to Lin Yi.
"I’ve changed everything according to your instructions. I hope you can leave here soon."
"Heh..."
Lin Yi chuckled meaningfully, "I’ve been around in this circle for a few years, you know. Doing it this way is underestimating me."
"I don’t understand what you mean."
"You’re the ones drafting the bill, but the decision-making power isn’t in your hands. So no matter how you change it, it carries no legal validity. Whether I look at it or not, it’s meaningless."
"Then why did you make me change the bill? Are you playing with me?"
"You’re overthinking it. A small fry like you isn’t worth my time." Lin Yi said:
"So, I only need you to do one thing—record a video, narrating the content above. I assume you don’t need me to teach you how to do that."
Aiden’s face changed dramatically. It was only then that he realized what Lin Yi intended.
If he actually did as Lin Yi said, the video would spread worldwide in no time.
Regardless of whether the bill takes effect, the impact would be immeasurable.
And his political career would be over.
"Don’t go overboard." Aiden raged.
"I’m afraid I’ll disappoint you; I’m the type who loves going overboard."
Lin Yi said:
"With your identity, you may not know much about me, but that’s okay. Li Yuanshi is here, you can ask him who I am."
Li Yuanshi shivered.
"Mr. Aiden, you’d better do as he says. Otherwise, you and your secretary might not get out of here easily."
"Bullshit, I refuse to believe he dares kill me with my status!"
"Look at how you’re talking. I’m a law-abiding citizen; how could I do such a thing?" Lin Yi said with a smile:
"But you know, the world isn’t safe. It’d be a shame if you encountered a car accident on your way to the airport. And those so-called bodyguards of yours might not even keep up with the Tiger Group, probably can’t protect you."
Aiden’s body trembled; this was a threat.
The room fell unusually silent, leaving only Aiden’s heavy breathing.
"Don’t mess around, I’ll do as you say."
"That’s the way, earning just that little every month, why risk your life?"
Under Lin Yi’s threat, Aiden was forced to record a video, briefly laying out the contents of the bill.
"Pleasure working with you. When you have a chance, visit us, and let me fulfill my duties as a host."
Aiden stood in place with a grim expression, knowing that once the video was released, his career would be ruined.
After leaving the hotel, Lin Yi dialed Zhang Xiaoyun’s number.
"Where are you? I’ll come to you now."
"We’re at the local cultural department. The meeting hasn’t started yet. I’ll ask for the address then you can take a cab over."
"Okay."
About three minutes later, Zhang Xiaoyun sent the address.
Lin Yi took a cab over.
After telling the driver the address, Lin Yi sat in the back seat and sent the recorded video to Shen Shuyi.
Then he made a call to her, but it wasn’t answered and was automatically hung up.
Lin Yi guessed she was probably in a meeting.
Lin Yi wasn’t worried; she’d call back when she saw it.
The final day’s itinerary involved holding an official exchange meeting with local departments.
The main topic was cooperative development.
In other words, binding together to further expand Daoism’s influence.
But most people knew that the so-called meeting was merely a formality, yet the process had to be followed.
"Uncle Master."
After Lin Yi got out of the car, he saw Zhang Xiaoyun waving at him.
"Has the meeting not started yet?"
"There’s still 10 minutes. Master wants you to hurry up because he says the meeting can’t go on without you."
"Is it because at such formal meetings he can’t show off, so he’s ready to retire to the second line?"
"Uncle Master, you’re smart. In such official settings, Master says you’re more suitable to represent."
"Let’s check out the situation first. After all, he’s the head, and with Zhou Jing around, even if I wanted to show up, they might not necessarily recognize me."
"If they don’t recognize you, it’s their loss."
While talking, the two walked into the building and entered the meeting room.
The people from Shangqing Palace sat on one side, and on the other side were their local counterparts. The main person seems to be Li Xuanzhi, apparently a ministerial role.
Li Dongying also sat in the chief seat, considered an important guest of the meeting.
A few minutes later, other leaders attending the meeting came in from outside.
They shook hands warmly with Zhang Youfu and Zhou Jing.
"We’re very grateful for the Yan Country delegation to attend this meaningful event and hope for a closer exchange in the future."
"Certainly." Zhou Jing replied formally:
"Though we’re from two places, the two great schools share the same roots, and naturally, we should increase activities like this for the betterment of Daoism culture’s spread and development."
"You’re right; such exchanges are indispensable."
The meeting was brief, lasting about an hour.
Besides the initial official speeches, each representative gave a speech and expressed their viewpoints.
But in Lin Yi’s view, it was all meaningless talk, nothing to be taken seriously.
Though the meeting was over, the day’s itinerary wasn’t entirely finished.
The last item was a visit to their museum to showcase the inheritance and development of local Daoism.
"Daoist Zhang, our museum has an Inheritance Treasure, and it has a profound impact on Daoism’s development. I’ll take you to see it in the afternoon," Li Xuanzhi said.
