How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World

Chapter 126: ‘Freshly’ Power

Chapter 126: ‘Freshly’ Power

Murong Xuanji was stunned by the strange yet powerful artifact that had just emerged from Wei Chen’s personal storage space. However, his shock only lasted a moment. His attack did not falter. Instead, he increased its intensity even further.

He clearly saw Wei Chen use that strange stick-like artifact to block him. He saw the terrifying power of death emitting from the cylindrical object, but he dismissed it.

The reason was simple. This was the lower realm, and his cultivation had already surpassed the threshold of the lower realm. Even though this was only a pseudo state and temporary, no artifact bound by the limits of the lower realm could threaten him.

It was a sound argument. It was like a high-level player casually roaming a high-level area before returning to the starting village. You would never expect any monster there to pose a threat.

This mindset, and the arrogance of the powerful, was the greatest folly of those who believed themselves to be superior beings.

Wei Chen grinned widely as he plunged the plunger directly into Murong Xuanji’s full-power palm strike.

“HAHAHAHA DIEEEE!” Murong Xuanji screamed. It was as if the louder he shouted, the more certain the death of his hated enemy would be. But then…

SQUELCH…..

“Huh?” Murong Xuanji exclaimed in utter confusion.

The expected clash of power never came. There was no thunderous explosion, no violent collision between his palm strike and the strange artifact.

Instead, all the power and strength behind his strike vanished the instant it touched the rubber cylindrical object. The spiritual qi was gone. The momentum was gone. Everything disappeared.

It was as if he had simply flown forward and pressed his palm against a squishy rubber cylinder at the end of a stick.

Moreover, his palm felt as if it had touched something inside. Something slimy, wet, and slippery. It felt like mud, yet the texture was far more tender. Whatever this mysterious substance was, it was sealed within the rubber cylinder at the end of the stick.

Murong Xuanji immediately retreated. This artifact worked beyond his comprehension. All of his power, the overwhelming strength within his body that felt sufficient to overturn the heavens, had suddenly vanished along with all momentum.

He did not know how this artifact worked, but this thing, this artifact, had to be at least a Heaven-grade artifact. Or perhaps even beyond that. It might be an ungraded artifact, something that could only be found in primordial ruins.

That was right. Primordial ruins.

From what he had researched about this vagabond, this vagabond was an adventurer who was well-versed in delving into all kinds of secret realms and ruins. This artifact had to be one of his prized possessions.

This was bad. Even though Murong Xuanji knew that, in his current state, he could win against this vagabond, with this mysterious artifact involved, he had no confidence at all.

Murong Xuanji grew alarmed as he thought about it. Even if this was not entirely true, it had to be close to the truth.

As he pondered, he unconsciously clenched his fist. The slimy substance on his palm smeared across his fingers and hand as he clenched in frustration.

Then suddenly, he felt something strange.

He raised his palm to inspect the mysterious substance.

Under the moonlight shining upon his hand, the dim orange-yellow substance was clearly visible. An overwhelming aura of death seeped out from it. This substance felt as if powerful death energy had been condensed into physical form.

The smell was rotten, exactly as one would expect from death energy. Was this the smell of death itself?

Murong Xuanji looked at Wei Chen. The vagabond’s face had turned pale. Murong Xuanji followed the vagabond’s gaze and looked back at his own palm.

The vagabond was staring at this mysterious substance, his face pale.

Could it be…

Was this the secret behind that vagabond’s strength?

Perhaps this strange artifact had been damaged by his palm strike. Maybe it had cracked, allowing whatever heaven-defying material was sealed inside to leak out.

And this substance was incredibly concentrated death energy. It had to be the material that this vagabond used to cultivate his death-related techniques. No wonder the power of death in this vagabond’s techniques was so terrifying.

It had to be the effect of this substance.

Murong Xuanji smirked. “Heh… you fool. I already know the secret of your strength!” he said with confidence, convinced that he had finally uncovered his enemy’s secret.

“What!?” Wei Chen was stunned. Why was this guy looking at him, then at the disgusting substance on his own hand, and smirking like Vegeta after figuring out how to turn Super Saiyan?

Then, an unbelievable chain of events unfolded right before Wei Chen’s eyes.

Murong Xuanji licked his own palm.

Yes, his right palm, covered in that messy orange-green substance. He licked it clean.

“Ummm…” It was bitter and earthy, a bit sour and slimy. The smell was extremely foul, but he had already sealed off his sense of smell. As expected of a mystical substance capable of increasing the power of death for that vagabond.

As the saying goes, the bitter the pill, the better the effect. This had to be some miraculous substance discovered in a primordial ruin.

— Meanwhile – Underworld —

Inside little Ningning’s room, she stared at the screen broadcasting the current situation. Her sparkling eyes were filled with confusion as she watched. She then turned toward her all-knowing Fourth Mama, eager for answers.

“Mama, Mama, why did that red-haired human love eating Papa’s poop? Was it delicious for humans? Is it some kind of de-li-ca-cy in the mortal world?” the little one asked.

“It’s not a delicacy, love. That red-haired mortal is just another kind of idiot,” Youqi answered with a gentle smile before continuing. “So, do not imitate what idiots do, understand?”

The little one nodded repeatedly. “Um! Ningning won’t imitate him. It looks disgusting. I was just wondering why he thought it was delicious. But as Papa said, question not the mind of idiots! Ningning understands!”

Youqi nodded and patted her little one’s head before rubbing her own forehead. She silently decided that when that red-haired bastard died and fell here, she would give him a piece of her mind and a very special reception for damaging her eyes and tainting her little one’s eyes.

On Wei Chen’s side, he was stunned beyond stunned.

He remembered his brothers from his previous life saying that there were truly some weird people who liked eating sh*t.

Back then, he thought they were just bullshitting him.

He never imagined that he would actually meet one in this new life.

Seeing Murong Xuanji savoring the aftertaste, Wei Chen felt his barbecue drumstick from earlier threatening to make a return. He clutched his stomach, trying desperately to calm his mind and suppress the urge.

“Ok… ok… urrbb…” Wei Chen held out a hand. “Give me… a minute… urrbb…” Then he quickly flew down to the ground.

“Urrrgrghhhhh… urrrrrgggg…”

The unmistakable sound of violent vomiting echoed from below.

After a minute or two, Wei Chen slowly flew back into the air. He wiped his mouth with a tissue before throwing it away.

“My apologies…” Wei Chen said, then looked at Murong Xuanji, who now had powerful death energy emitting from his body.

Seeing his enemy return, Murong Xuanji began to gloat.

“Hahahahahaha! Is this the power you use? Not bad! I feel the power of death coursing through my veins! My spiritual qi is thick with the power of death! At this rate… I will… huh?”

He suddenly paused, feeling his right arm grow light. He tried to raise it, but his right arm did not move. He looked down and saw that his arm was now no different from a dried husk, dark and withered, reeking of death. It was as if his right arm had been dead for thousands of years.

“No!”

He then looked at his own body. It began to dry out as the power of death started to corrode him. The corrosion manifested as rapid aging, his body withering at a speed visible to the naked eye. His lifespan, once more than one hundred thousand years, rapidly dwindled.

From centuries to decades, from decades to days, and from days to mere hours and minutes in an instant.

“No! You poisoned me? You poisoned me, you coward!” Murong Xuanji screamed in rage, but he could do nothing.

Even speaking drained what little stamina he had left.

Finally, he collapsed to the ground. His lifespan was completely exhausted, his body turned into a husk, then crumbled into dust that scattered on the night wind.

“Damn… I never thought a guy could love eating sh*t so much that he would literally die trying,” Wei Chen muttered, still feeling like he might vomit again.

Wei Chen quickly dispersed those thoughts, forcing himself not to vomit again. There was nothing left in his stomach anyway. He then stored the Indomitable Plunger inside the broadcasting orb’s storage. This item was equivalent to his trump card, and he needed to keep it safe.

Looking in the direction of Thousand Treasure City, he immediately rushed toward it, worried about his friends and that money grubbing girl, Mo Xingyao.
