How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World

Chapter 116: The War for Primordial Ruin Secret Realm-01

Chapter 116: The War for Primordial Ruin Secret Realm-01

The sharp and powerful sword intent rushed toward the front of the flying ark. With a flash of that sword intent, the lower half of the Azure Sky Conglomerate’s flying ark was severed. All of the crew and warriors who were in its path were also cut down and lost their lives.

“What!?” Gu Tianhe was stunned by the scene. He quickly rushed to the side deck and leaned out to look.

What he saw was horrifying. The lower half of the flying ark he had been standing on had been completely separated and was falling toward the ground below. Blood and severed limbs from the warriors and crew on the lower deck, along with anyone caught in the path of the sword intent, splattered through the air like rain.

Gu Tianhe was alarmed. He quickly turned toward the direction from which the sword intent had originated.

But another attack came from that same direction. An overwhelmingly powerful sword intent descended from the sky, like the heavens themselves delivering punishment.

“Insolence!” An angry shout boomed from inside one of the cabins. A man who looked to be in his mid fifties rushed out and sent a massive palm strike toward the descending sword intent.

However, the palm strike was cleanly cut apart with little resistance. At the same time, several more figures rushed out from nearby flying arks that had not been affected by the first attack. They were all powerful experts from various factions, and they unleashed their attacks in hopes of deterring or diverting the sword intent.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Sword qi, palm strikes, fists, claws, and even torrents of fire were hurled toward the colossal sword intent descending from the heavens.

Boom!

After a full-powered combined assault, the descending sword intent was finally diverted. The ones who succeeded were Elder Ming from the Heaven’s Spire Sanctuary and another elder from a righteous path sect.

Boooooooooooooooom!

The sword intent crashed into the ground below, cleaving the earth apart and creating a long, narrow abyss so deep that none of the onlookers could discern its depth.

All of the experts quickly looked toward the sky to identify the one who had unleashed such a terrifying sword intent.

A rugged man with long hair appeared in the sky. He had a handsome face, stubble on his chin, and a sadistic, battle-hungry smile. Dressed entirely in black, he held a massive sword in his right hand. This was a man well known among righteous path cultivators.

“Sky-Severing Demon, Mo Jue!” one of the righteous cultivators spat the name as if facing a mortal enemy.

“That’s my name,” Mo Jue replied. “So why have all of you wandered into my backyard?”

Mo Jue knew full well that these hypocrites had come for the Primordial ruin. Still, he wanted to hear what excuse they would use. It was one of his favorite pastimes, toying with righteous path hypocrites.

The cultivators looked around, still unable to come up with a good excuse. One of them was Gu Tianhe. It was not that he personally needed an excuse, but many of the warriors who came with him, especially those on the other flying arks, were from different provinces, and he did not have the authority to control what they might say.

Even though he often acted shamelessly, there still needed to be at least a somewhat believable excuse to justify their actions.

At this moment, an elder from the Sacred Flame Valley pointed at Mo Jue.

“This is the first time we have discovered the Primordial Ruin! The power and heritage of a Primordial Ruin should not fall into the hands of a demonic path cultivator like you! If it does, chaos will surely descend upon the world!” the elder declared righteously.

“Heh, hehe,” Mo Jue chuckled. “Why not? The key to this realm was given to me by my good son-in-law, Wei Chen. Why can’t I own it?”

“On the other hand, all of you barged in here uninvited, acting as if you own the place, with three massive flying arks full of warriors from your sects and clans. Should I also offer you tea while I am at it?”

“Heh” He snorted “I know all of you are shameless, but shamelessness should have its limits. Otherwise, people might misunderstand and think you are from the demonic path as well, just based on your shamelessness alone.”

Mo Jue spoke with a mocking smile. His grating words made many of the righteous path cultivators grit their teeth in anger.

At this time, Gu Tianhe, who had landed on another flying ark, finally lost his patience. “Why are we arguing with this demon? Just kill him and the Primordial Ruin will be ours!”

“That’s right! There’s only one of him, but we have more than twelve hundred warriors on our side!” another elder agreed.

“Oi, Gu Tianhe, did you grow a demon heart after getting your ass beaten by Jian Heng?” Mo Jue mocked him, deliberately reopening an old wound. “That’s not good for your health, you know. You should take better care of yourself.”

Gu Tianhe gritted his teeth and pointed at Mo Jue. “Enough! Kill him already!”

With this command, the elders from the various sects ordered their warriors to move out and form battle formations. They had no intention of fighting Mo Jue one on one in an honorable manner.

From their previous clash, they already knew that Mo Jue had likely broken through in his Sword Dao. Therefore, the safest method was to surround him and use attrition tactics, slowly wearing him down before going for the kill.

“Oh? A battle formation? That’s good. I just happened to want to test my Sky Severing Sword against all of you,” Mo Jue said. His battle-hungry smile widened as he stepped back, creating just enough distance to unleash his full power.

Hsssss… Haaa…

Mo Jue inhaled deeply and exhaled a turbid breath filled with intent, the intent to sever. It was the same scene he had seen, the cut that severed the heavens themselves. Yes, he could not reach that level yet, but to cut down all these flies along with their precious formation?

That would be easy.

He closed his eyes and focused.

“What is that demon trying to do?” one of the elders asked. Their formation was already complete and ready for battle.

Gu Tianhe suddenly felt a surge of dread. A powerful sense of ominous danger overwhelmed him, and he shouted like a madman.

“What are you waiting for? Kill him! NOW!” Gu Tianhe screamed at the top of his lungs. However, the others remained silent and did not move. Gu Tianhe’s own men had already been killed, and the warriors within the formation belonged to other factions. They did not listen to his orders.

On Mo Jue’s side, while he remained in a trance-like state, a vision appeared before him. There was a line, a thin line that marked the path of a cut. A long horizontal line that could split the entire world in two.

Whoosh!

With a powerful horizontal swing, a terrifying surge of intent erupted, and it was as if the entire world suddenly fell silent.

A formless and dreadful intent rushed toward everyone along that thin line.

Some of the elders caught within its path suddenly felt something strange. They were still flying, yet their bodies felt oddly light from the waist down.

The horrifying truth registered in their minds. From the waist down, there was nothing left. Their lower halves were falling toward the ground below, like apples obeying the law of gravity.

The scene was horrifying. It was not only the elders. Every warrior who happened to be in that line was cut cleanly in two, horizontally.

Whether it was their heads, their chests, their bodies from the waist down, or even just their ankles, all were severed cleanly. Wherever the line passed, there was only separation, as if the world itself had been split in half.

Weapons, artifacts, armor, men, and even the flying ark were all cut and severed without distinction.

“Arrrrrgh!” “My leg!” “What? How? When?”

Screams of agony, disbelief, and unwillingness echoed throughout the area.

More than a thousand lives were lost in an instant, just like that. They did not even know what had struck them, and in death, they never understood what had killed them or when it happened.

The only one who had some inkling of the danger was Gu Tianhe. His instincts had been honed throughout his life, especially after his defeat at the hands of his nemesis, Jian Heng.

“What… what kind of demonic power was that?” Gu Tianhe said in trepidation.

At this rate, he might lose his life here.

“Huuuu…” Mo Jue let out a long breath as he slowly adjusted his stance. He had only just comprehended this Severing Dao and was still not fully accustomed to it. Using it had consumed a tremendous amount of his spiritual qi, willpower, and intent.

However, from the results, it was clear that the attack could even cut through the formation itself, severing all of its connection nodes. Normally, such a feat would be impossible unless the cultivators controlling those nodes were killed directly.

This technique was like a trump card, one that could easily turn the tide of battle.

“How do you like my True Sky Severing? It’s not half bad, right?” Mo Jue asked with a confident smile.
