Chapter 1661: Discover with Jericho Maya (Part I)

Later that night, Iris Long still felt excited even as she lay in bed with her husband. Jin Liwei smiled and shook his head while pulling her in a tight embrace.

"Don't you think Virginia is so amazing?" Iris asked while wriggling within her husband's arms.

"You're more amazing, love."

Iris gave his waist a soft slap. "I'm being serious!"

"I'm also being serious."

She pouted. "That was one of the best jam sessions I've ever had with other people! I love it when other artists can keep up with me. Well, I had to adjust many times to harmonize with Mr. Albert's guitar playing, but I heard that the piano is his best instrument. So maybe that's why his guitar skills are much weaker. Miss Dina is also getting on with age, so, understandably, she can't keep up with us that much anymore. But Virginia? They say that she's starting to slip past her prime, but she was amazing tonight. I hope I can maintain my skills at her age."

"You will, love," Jin Liwei murmured. "You'll be amazing at any age."

She raised her head and rested it on her hand while watching the sleepy him. "You really think so?"

"En."

"What if I become old and ugly? Will you still love me?"

He looked straight into her eyes. "Yes. I take my marriage vows seriously, Evelina. I'll still love you no matter what appearance you have, as long as it's you. Just don't leave me."

'Or I'll go insane,' he added these words in his heart.

"Okay!" She beamed at him. "I'll still love you, too, even if you're no longer young and handsome. Even if you're no longer wealthy, I'll still love you. Don't worry if that happens. Your wife will support the whole family."

He chuckled. "En."

She lay back on the bed, wanting to sleep, but her body refused to cooperate. Excitement coursed through her veins as memories of her earlier jam session played nonstop in her mind.

"Stop wriggling, love," Jin Liwei said through gritted teeth. "Or neither of us will get any sleep tonight."

"But I can't sleep—oh!"

He had taken her hand and pressed it on a prominent, hard bulge beneath his pyjama pants. "If you really can't sleep, we can exercise the whole night. Your husband will accompany you, wife. Hm?"

Iris immediately behaved. Yes, she was tempted just a bit, but remembering her schedule for tomorrow, any other naughty thoughts flew out the window.

Her eyes shut close. In no time, she was in a deep sleep.

"Love?"

Jin Liwei checked on his wife. After ensuring that she was indeed sleeping, he could only sigh. His wife's ability to fall asleep within seconds would always impress him. It was something one of their twin boys, Little Matcha, had inherited from her.

He tried sleeping as well, but failed, not with the painful hard-on silently screaming for attention. After another sigh, he carefully took his arm under his wife's head and climbed off the bed. She didn't stir at all.

"You're getting naughtier by the day," he murmured while watching his wife sleep.

Then he kissed her forehead before heading to the bathroom for a late-night cold shower.

The next morning was another flurry of preparations.

Everybody was already used to the routine by now. The only thing that they couldn't get used to was the extremely humid heat whenever they went outside. Fortunately, they didn't need to stay outside for too long. Almost all of Iris Long's activities were indoors.

Today's schedule was the most packed during their trip in the Philippines. Most of the work today consisted of interviews, almost nonstop.

Two of them were important. They would be conducted by two of the most famous interviewers in the country.

The first interviewer would meet them right at the hotel, so they wouldn't have to head out so early. Thank goodness!

Iris finished getting ready, so she took the time to eat a proper breakfast with everyone. About half an hour later, Dom informed her that the first interviewer would be arriving soon.

Their whole team left the suite and headed to one of the hotel's small meeting halls. It was tastefully decorated to resemble a luxurious living room, thanks to Dom informing the hotel management in advance. There was also a snack and refreshment table in a corner.

Finally, the interviewer arrived.

Jericho Maya, one of the most respected journalists in the Philippines.

He had received numerous awards in the field of journalism here in the country and abroad. As of today, he still worked as a main anchor for a major news program but was also headlining his own news variety show called "Discover with Jericho Maya".

His interview with Iris Long was promised to be a special episode for his show.

Following Jericho was his own camera crew and staff. He greeted Iris and her team, exuding openness and humility. Iris immediately felt comfortable in his presence. It made her want to talk about everything with him.

'Whoa, this is dangerous,' she thought. 'Maybe this is why he's such an accomplished interviewer. He has an aura that influences his guests to open up to him without any reservation.'

Realizing this, she became guarded. She was someone with many secrets. It would be a disaster if she were careless and spilled everything to this man.

'This man's talent is scary.'

Despite her thoughts, Iris still had a good impression of Jericho Maya. There was sincerity in his eyes and…what was it? A sense of justice? It made sense, though, since he was an accomplished journalist.

The two groups chatted for a while.

Jericho Maya looked at Jin Liwei. To his credit, Jericho didn't get intimidated at all, unlike most people. Jin Liwei wasn't known as the friendliest man.

"Is it okay to interview you a little, Mr. Jin?"

"I want the focus to be on my wife," Jin Liwei said.

Jericho nodded. "Of course, sir. I won't ask anything solely about you. Everything will concern the madam."

Jin Liwei thought about it before silently asking his wife with a look.

"Up to you, darling," Iris said.

He sighed before replying to the journalist. "Fine, but I won't answer questions that I don't like."

Jericho beamed. "Yes, sir. No problem. This is just a recording. Anything you don't like, we'll cut it. My only request is that you be truthful when answering my questions."

When the staff finished setting up all the cameras, lighting, and other equipment, the interview finally started.

"Welcome to tonight's special episode of 'Discover with Jericho Maya'. We have a special guest who came all the way to the Philippines. Please help me welcome the multi-award-winning musician, trailblazing businesswoman, devoted wife, and loving mother—Iris Long!"

A camera closed up on Iris Long's beauty.

"Thank you very much for having me, Jericho," Iris said with a smile. "I've heard so much about you and your show. My best friend and assistant, Dominic, is an avid fan of yours."

"Oh, yes. Your best friend and assistant is Filipino, right?"

"Yes, he is. His name is Dominic Chua. He makes my life so much easier to live. Helps me manage everything, so that I can focus on the most important things."

Another camera focused on Dom behind the scenes. He grinned and waved.

"I'll interview you later, Dominic, so please remain on standby," Jericho said.

Dom gave him an enthusiastic thumbs-up.

"Welcome to the Philippines, Iris Long," Jericho said, returning the topic to her. "Let's start with…why did you come here?"

Iris Long had already answered this question several times since she arrived in the country. She told him about her company, Orchidia, its history, and how she eventually decided to open several international divisions. She started with Orchidia Germany to serve the European market. Next was Orchidia Philippines to serve the Asian market. And finally, Orchidia Singapore to serve the rest of the world.

"We have more plans of opening other international divisions to better serve the global market, but for now, we're starting with these three—Germany, the Philippines, and Singapore," Iris explained.

"Why did you choose the Philippines?" Jericho asked.

"That's very easy to answer. It's because I have a deep connection with the Filipino people. My best friend and assistant is Filipino. His Filipino family has also become part of my family. Their family has been instrumental in helping me expand my career in this country. They're the ones who founded Black Stars Philippines, which I'm eternally grateful for. They're some of the most loyal, trustworthy, and hardworking people that I've ever met in my life. So it's only natural for me to partner with them to open a Filipino division of my company. Most importantly, they have the skills and work ethic to accomplish what I require of them."

Jericho: "So you're saying that the Chua family is your business partner?"

Iris: "Yes."

She didn't elaborate on her business relationship with the Chuas too much, as it might trouble the family. Aside from Dominic, the rest of his family weren't used to the limelight. It was better to protect as much of their privacy as possible.

Jericho sensed this and moved to another topic.

"Let's talk about your career as a musician," he said.

Iris: "I'll be more than happy to talk about it."

Jericho: "But first, let's start at the very beginning. You were in a car crash that left you comatose."

Iris: "Yes."

Jericho: "How old were you when this happened?"

Iris: "I was eighteen, if I remember correctly. I was comatose for about a year."

Jericho: "Before all this happened, you were already working in showbiz, correct?"

Iris: "Correct. I was a commercial model as a child before transitioning into a teenage pop singer. It was a very different time. I think I lacked direction to know what I really needed to do back then."

She pressed a hand on her chest. Indeed, the original Long Xiulan did all these without proper guidance from a responsible adult.
