Chapter 2920: Chapter 1139: This Is a Madman

Bang!

The Remington in Taiyi’s hands roared, spitting out a straight beam of white light, trying to stop Primordial from leaving.

This was Zheng Qing’s instinctive reaction.

To be honest, he didn’t have the ability to deal with two Legends at the same time, nor did he ever plan to—he had very little confidence in what exactly the Forbidden Spell Book was and how it worked, he wasn’t even sure whether he would survive after casting a Forbidden Curse. So unless it was absolutely necessary, that book would never be opened lightly—but watching his long-hunted target casually walk away right in front of him still made a few streaks of youthful recklessness flare up inside him.

Only, the moment he pulled the trigger, Zheng Qing regretted it at once.

If It wants to go, just let It go. As long as the green hills remain, there’s always firewood to burn; a bright future is waiting for him, there’s no need to get into a death match with two Legends beyond the World’s boundary over a bit of petty vexation!

He hasn’t even taken his final exams yet!

Besides, what deep-seated hatred does he really have with the crow anyway?

Nothing more than a bit of resentment, a bit of indignation, and a bit of unwillingness.

This powerful body he has now is actually thanks to the crow—though they clearly didn’t mean well at the time, but how many people in this World don’t harbor ill intent?

Fortunately or unfortunately, Zheng Qing’s shot still failed to stop Professor Montreya from leaving.

Boom!

A raised Hammer appeared with perfect precision in the Fu Bullet’s trajectory and smashed it to pieces. Legendary Magic Power of utterly different natures was forced to collide, again bursting into violent magical shockwaves, only there was no Cloud Sea around Leviathan anymore for those intangible ripples to tear apart; the overflowed energy ironed the void into layer upon layer of overlapping ripples.

After smashing that Fu Bullet, Leviathan didn’t pull back. Instead, It swung the Hammer again and brought it down on the void.

Boom!

Crack, crack!

Two strikes in a row made the entire World tremble and sway. Centered on where the Hammer fell, rings of spiderweb-like spatial fissures spread out in the void. Under Taiyi’s horrified gaze, those cracks seemed alive, climbing all the way upward, stretching respectively toward the Blue Moon and the Red Moon, and then, under the gravity of the two moons, finally failing to hold, collapsing, and turning into a surging torrent of spatial turbulence.

The Red Moon and Blue Moon quietly fell into it just like that.

The World shook more and more violently.

Zheng Qing wasn’t sure whether the tremors came from rule-changes triggered by the disappearance of the two moons, or simply because this World was ’afraid.’

What he could be sure of was that he absolutely did not have the ability to casually drop two moons into the Ruins.

"Don’t make this hard for me."

On the other side of the spatial turbulence, the handsome warlock twirled the Hammer twice before resting it on his shoulder. He looked calmly at Taiyi in the distance, who was standing there, four arms raised, nervously Hehe, and with his deep voice he drawled, "—You just stay here obediently for a while. When your elders arrive, I’ll naturally leave. Don’t think about going all out. You lack experience; the result of going all out is you die, I run... that’s a lose-lose outcome."

If not for the terrifying act of dropping two moons with a single strike, these few sentences alone would never have persuaded a Young Wizard whose blood was still boiling to stand down.

"I thought you’d want to capture me." Taiyi forced out a very stiff smile.

"The things that are hard to do and the things we want to do are often the same thing."

Leviathan didn’t seem to mind chatting a bit more with this Young Wizard who had brushed up against the border of Legend: "Or rather, anything that we consider valuable is never easy. In the eyes of a Legendary Wizard there’s no such word as ’easy’... the things you think are easy simply don’t enter a Legend’s field of vision."

It sounded insanely arrogant.

Zheng Qing had yet to truly experience what Legend meant, so it was hard for him to empathize with Leviathan’s words.

"Is the world of Legends all this boring?" The Young Wizard couldn’t help but sneer.

The handsome warlock gave Taiyi a faint look and countered, "What is boredom? Being swayed in our distance to truth by some concept that has no value at all—that’s what’s truly boring. Every single move made by every single Legend is valuable."

It sounded somewhat reasonable.

But Zheng Qing didn’t quite agree. He had always felt that besides meaningful things, one should do a lot of meaningless things in life as well. A life built only out of various ’meanings’ is, in a certain sense, already dead.

"—Like Professor Montreya turning around and running away?" In the end the young man couldn’t help voicing the thought that had popped into his head, and he used it to mock Leviathan’s definition of ’value.’

Leviathan did not answer.

Instead, It extended two fingers, poked them into Its left eye, and dug the eyeball out. Then It tossed that bloody eyeball upward; the moment it left Its fingers, the eyeball began to grow at a frantic pace, covering thousands of miles as it enlarged ten thousandfold in an instant, transforming into a blood-red Sun. It took the place of the two vanished moons and pressed down on the World that was beginning to riot.

Since it was an eye that had turned into a Sun, the sunlight it shed inevitably carried a tinge of blood, and the light was a bit blurry, giving people the sense of looking at the World through frosted glass. The Sun’s outline was no longer smooth either, as if it had been soaked in boiling water, with ugly wrinkles appearing around the edge—worse still, Leviathan’s crooked blood vessels and nerves still remained on the surface of the Sun, slowly contracting and moving with Its breath. Every single second, countless tiny Magic Runes flashed along those veins and nerves; It seemed to be staining this World in Leviathan’s own image.

"Just like Montelio."

Leviathan gazed at Taiyi with Its pitch-black eye socket, expression indifferent: "—I was born a Dark Beast, I don’t have much experience being a Wizard. But judging by the Wizards I know, I can confirm there’s nothing wrong with Montelio’s choice. As a true Wizard, one should remain rational at all times. In the process of pursuing truth, one should discard the negative externalities of society—or rather, discard the Bind that society lays on you—like tradition, like morality, like humanity—and use the purest possible thinking to analyze and perceive the World. You must understand, Wizards pursue truth, not survival. There are countless ways for you to live in this World, but only one way to transcend the common masses."

"What way?" Zheng Qing couldn’t help asking.

"Do subtraction."

Leviathan looked quietly at him, speaking with clipped clarity: "Magic is just Magic, experiments are just experiments, truth is just truth. Don’t add any unnecessary Bind to these simple concepts; any artificial construct will taint the purity of truth... Each burden you throw away lets you walk that much further on the road to truth."

This was a madman.

Zheng Qing finally gained a true understanding of his opponent.
