“What happened here?” Yu Dong asked Ye Liu as soon as she rushed inside the house.

When Ye Liu saw that she had returned, his heart that was in turmoil for the entire night finally eased a little. However, when he heard Yu Dong ask about what happened last night, his expression changed.

He glanced at Aunt Wang and Wu Junfen before hesitating. Was it all right for him to tell what happened to Yu Dong with these two women here?

After all, this concerned the reputation of Fang Chi.

“What’s wrong?” Yu Dong asked her heart dropping even more when she saw that Ye Liu was not speaking. Did something really serious happen when she was not here?

“Mu Yuxi came last night,” Fang Chi who was in his room walked out with Bo Bo when he heard Yu Dong’s voice. He did care about his reputation but he glanced at Ye Liu and Shen Li who were looking at him in surprise.

He smiled at them and said, “Aunt Wang’s son got into trouble because of me, so she had a right to know what happened as well.” Anyway, he trusted the two women as Yu Dong trusted them as well.

What was more he knew that Aunt Wang treated Yu Dong like her daughter so of course she would not relay what happened to him outside.

As Wu Junfen, she too treated Yu Dong well like a junior and had helped their family at many troublesome times.

“What did you say? Who came?” Yu Dong’s voice rose as she strode inside the house and came to a stop in front of Fang Chi, her eyes fell on the small wound next to his neck and suddenly her heart was set on fire.

Fang Chi smiled with a hint of sadness on his face. He told everything to Yu Dong what happened last night and by the time he finished speaking, it would be right to say that Yu Dong looked like she was ready to kill someone.

No, it was better to say that she looked like she wanted to rip Mu Yuxi and Second Sister Rong limb by limb along with that unknown man.

“Damn, how can they do such an inhuman thing?” Aunt Wang was furious, now she understood what happened. Those three bastards deliberately threw the two children into the well because they knew that Yu Dong would not be able to ignore such a thing and would rush to the town to treat the two children as if they were too young.

So they did such a thing to send Yu Dong away from the village and did such a horrible crime. Fortunately, Fang Chi was lucky that the matter was resolved by Lang and the mercenaries if not—— a chill climbed up in her heart and she exchanged a worried look with Uncle Fu.

The two of them had seen Yu Dong in a rage when she was pummelling Qiu Bai to the ground after finding out what the mer had done to her husband. She could almost imagine what Yu Dong would have done if Mu Yuxi and Second Sister Rong were still alive.

“That man better not fall in my hands or else…it will be better for him to die in the mountains in the hands of the wild animals or else I will kill him with my own hands,” Yu Dong had always had a good temper but at that moment she felt murderous intention surging in her heart.

She almost lost her husband last night. If something happened to Fang Chi last night, she would have never forgiven herself. Not to mention Ah Feng and Bo Bo, these two were so young but had to face the maliciousness of the world at such an age.

“It is my fault,” Wu Junfen rubbed her forehead. “I took the women of the village along with me if I had left a few behind then——”

“It’s not your fault,” Yu Dong shook her head as she refuted Wu Junfen. “Even if you haven’t taken the women out of the village those three would have waited for an opportunity and if they did not get one…they would have created one just like how they sent me out of the village by throwing the children in the well.”

She then turned to look at the mammies and questioned, “What about the person who opened the door of the backyard? Did you catch that person?”

She understood something from what Fang Chi was telling her, the person who opened the doors was most likely someone from inside!

“We did look for that person but we couldn’t,” Mammy Lin shook her head with a sigh. “We were so busy trying to catch those three bastards that the person who opened the door mingled with the crowd and ran away.”

Yu Dong’s brows furrowed. She was rather dissatisfied with the mammies and Lang as she had trained them for every situation but she knew that she couldn’t blame them, as even an army would fail in their attempts to win a war if there was a traitor among them.

If not for the traitor who told Mu Yuxi about the room where the children were asleep the hands of Lang and the mammies wouldn’t have been tied up.

“Sister!” Yu Mai who was sleeping in his room heard the voice of his sister and immediately rushed out. “Sister! Mai was bullied, someone kicked Mai look!”

Yu Mai who was holding his complaints from last night immediately showed his belly to Yu Dong. There was an ugly show mark on his stomach and it had turned blue and black. When Yu Dong saw this her eyes turned red and she immediately rushed to pick up the mer.

“Does it hurt?” She asked in a soft voice while rubbing the belly of the young mer.

“It does but Mai protected brother-in-law! Mai did a good job!” Yu Mai said with his fists clenched even though he was in pain he had to tell his sister that he could protect his brothers in law and was not useless. This way his sister would never send him away as he was useful!
