Grand Voyage : Surviving on a Ghost Ship

Ch. 331 - The Shattered and Battered Light Fairy

“This was the live creature market. It mainly sold living creatures, but there were also organs and corpses for sale. However, there weren’t many types of goods left. They hadn’t received a shipment in a long time.”

“You could look around later and buy something if you found anything suitable. Anyway, you had slave marks, so how you used them was entirely up to you...”

Old Dad walked ahead, leading Yang Yi and Suna toward a conspicuous black tent.

Along the way, the two of them looked around, though their attention was focused on different things.

Suna was examining the prices of the various creatures, thinking about which ones she should buy later.

Yang Yi, meanwhile, was searching for Mars while memorizing the layout of the treasure ship’s cabin.

The place was like a huge prison, filled with the smell of excrement and an unpleasant fishy stench.

Some of the cages were even stacked several levels high, requiring a considerable amount of vertical space to accommodate them.

However, many of the cages were empty. One particularly heavy iron cage was more than ten meters tall, with bars thicker than an adult man’s thigh. It might once have housed some enormous creature.

Big Boss One-Eye, have you found me yet?

“There are quite a few blond-haired, blue-eyed men here. You’ll have to give me some more specific physical characteristics.”

Yang Yi sent Mars a private message, asking him to provide more distinctive features.

“My hands are quite flexible. When I spread my palm flat, I can rotate it more than 400 degrees.”

“Give me another one. That’s too difficult to identify.”

“I have a scar on the left side of my chin. I got it when a fishhook caught me while I was fishing. There’s also a black mole at the right corner of my mouth.”

“Good. I’ll look for you. If I find you, I’ll call out to you. Don’t fall asleep.”

“Gotcha!” Mars replied through the channel.

Yang Yi ended the communication and stopped inspecting the surrounding cages.

That was because all the creatures inside them were capable of moving, which did not match Mars’s condition. He could basically rule them out.

That left only the special rooms inside the ship’s cabin as suspicious locations.

The black tent in front of them was one of them.

Yang Yi and Suna followed closely behind Old Dad and arrived at the entrance of the tent. Old Dad lifted the curtain.

Immediately, dazzling light poured out from inside, accompanied by faint screams, causing Yang Yi and Suna to squint.

“They’re currently making Light Containers inside. It’s a little dazzling, but you’ll get used to it after a while.”

Old Man spoke as he entered first.

Yang Yi glanced over the tent and guessed that the fabric had probably been dyed black using Dark Cores. It could block out light and even seemed to have soundproofing properties.

He and Suna entered a step behind him. As soon as they stepped inside, they heard a crisp sound resembling shattering glass, followed by a miserable scream.

“You heretics will be punished by the Holy Light sooner or later! Crack! Ah!!!”

Directly opposite the entrance stood a dark-brown wooden table. Two creatures that appeared to be Light Fairies had been fixed onto it.

They had two pairs of transparent wings resembling those of dragonflies. Patterns on the wings emitted light, as though radiance were flowing within them.

They were about fifteen centimeters tall. Their appearances were no different from those of miniature humans, but they were exceptionally beautiful. Their bodies showed no obvious signs of gender.

Both Light Fairies had been restrained. Their hands, feet, and wings were pinned to the wooden table with black spikes, making them look exactly like insects being fixed into position before being turned into specimens.

However, the Light Fairies were still alive.

“Don’t move around too much. If I don’t cut it properly later, you’ll be the one suffering the consequences.”

A strange man with four arms was handling everything.

He wore black cylindrical sunglasses. With two of his hands, he drew lines across the Light Fairy’s body, while the other two held sharp little knives, seemingly calculating its volume.

“You... you despicable demon! The Goddess of Radiance will punish you!”

The man ignored the Light Fairy’s curses and simply began cutting.

Crack!

Another crisp sound rang out.

The Light Fairy’s body seemed extremely fragile. Even when it broke apart, the fracture surfaces looked like shattered glass.

The two unconscious Light Fairies were removed and placed into a transparent liquid before being locked inside a large Dark Core.

“There’s an opening! Die, you stinking old man covered in evil energy!”

A crisp, angry shout rang out, but the attack did not follow. Instead, it seemed more like a warning.

A corner of the black cloth carpet on the ground suddenly lifted. From underneath it crawled a small Light Fairy that had been hiding there for a long time.

She was about eight centimeters tall and was missing most of her body. She did not even have any legs.

Her only remaining right hand clutched a black spike. Judging from her appearance, she seemed to be preparing to attack Old Dad.

However, after emerging, she caught sight of Yang Yi from the corner of her eye and immediately froze.

That was because the evil aura emanating from Yang Yi was even stronger than Old Man’s. Compared with him, Yang Yi’s aura was no less sinister. It was practically as if he had crawled out of the abyss itself.

“What an utterly evil person! Holy Judgment!”

She suddenly changed targets, flapped her only remaining pair of wings, and flew toward Yang Yi while clutching the black spike. Her speed was not slow at all.

However, halfway there, she could no longer move forward.

Old Man’s right hand had grabbed the end of the spike.

She could not pull it away from him, and the two of them immediately began an extremely one-sided tug-of-war.

“Esteemed guest, I’m sorry. This problematic Light Fairy escaped from its cage again. I hope it didn’t frighten you.

“They are indeed quite fast when flying, but they are weak, light, and basically have no combat ability.”

Old Man apologized as he held the spike and dragged the Light Fairy over to a large Dark Core.

He then opened the cage door and, with a gentle flick, sent the runaway Light Fairy back inside.

“Oh, right. This Light Fairy isn’t very intelligent either. You should have noticed that.”

Old Man continued explaining.

“You stupid old man are even less intelligent!”

The Light Fairy inside immediately retorted.

She then tried to crawl back out through the opening, but because of her awkward movements, she became stuck in the hole.

“Old Man, the Light Fairy you’re planning to sell me wouldn’t happen to be this one, would it?”

Yang Yi asked.

The reason was that Old Man had referred to this particular Light Fairy as a “problematic Light Fairy.”

“Precisely this one. Normally, a Light Fairy’s body can regenerate. As long as the damage is less than two-thirds of its body weight and its head remains unharmed, soaking it in holy water will allow it to recover from its injuries within twenty-four hours.”

“But this one, as you can see, doesn’t recover at all. It also cost me eighty million Sea Shell Coins. I practically lost everything on it.”

The old man explained the situation to Yang Yi.

He had bought this Light Fairy from the Limb Spider Cult not long ago. At the time, he had failed to realize that it was defective, which had resulted in a huge loss.

But that was how business worked. It was impossible to make money forever.

“See if you want it.”

“Keeping it as a light source would actually be quite good, but you can’t continue harming it. It could easily die. Also, because this thing is so small, it keeps managing to crawl out of its cage. You’ll have to deal with that yourself.”

The old man did not hide anything. He told Yang Yi about the drawbacks and all the relevant information he needed to know, leaving him to decide whether to buy it or not.

Yang Yi then looked at the Light Fairy stuck in the opening, making the latter feel a chill run down her spine. For a moment, she could barely speak properly.

“You... you evil person, why are you looking at me?”

Yang Yi ignored her and turned to look at Old Man.

“It’s physically disabled, and its brain is damaged too. It’s only about the size of a palm now. How about making it a little cheaper?”

Yang Yi tried to bargain.

“You’re the one with a damaged brain!”

The Light Fairy seemed extremely displeased.

However, Old Man also happened to ignore the opinion of the merchandise.

“How much do you think is appropriate?”

“I still have to buy some other things anyway. How about eight million Sea Shell Coins?”
