Otherwise, it would give others cause to say she was arrogant due to her achievements and was attempting to overshadow the monarch.

Although she possessed the capability, she, who had been rescued from the Devil’s Cave by the late Emperor and had risen to her current position, held boundless loyalty to the royal family. Without the late Emperor, Erice would never have attained the unique and prestigious position of Grand Marshal of the Empire. Therefore, she had always faithfully carried out the late Emperor’s orders.

The only order she hadn’t carried out was one: the late Emperor’s final instruction to designate the successor to the throne. However, this successor had been lost among the common people and needed to be found.

But there was already a legitimate heir in court. If the throne were vacated and people sent out on an aimless search, it would negatively impact the entire empire.
